    The deep sea and Everest are still experiences limited to this planet. Once the barrier to space is removed we will have an enormous variety of places to visit. I think the desire to travel in space would actually increase.

    I previously used MSE, updated regularly, until I got infected. I manually scanned all downloaded files before running them. Every. Single. File. Trust this product at your own peril.

    I manually scan everything I download and I make sure AV is patched before I do, but MSE completely missed several viruses and trojans in an executable recently, and these were not new viruses. This caused major headaches and many hours of troubleshooting. If you fully trust MSE as your only AV solution then you are unprotected.

    Let's put it this way: If Sony did this, I would buy a Sony device without hesitation. (Anyone who knows me, knows that I am saying I would betray my own principles to play with this stuff.)

    I have the SONY HMZ-T1 and it is fantastic. I use it with the PC and PS3. I haven't tried connecting a TrackIR but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

    A run from NY to LA would run you several billion dollars just to get started

    LA moves north at 33 mm per year, which would likely cause problems for tunnels from LA to any destination in the east.

    The Sony HMZ-T1 is a little more expensive than this proposed project, it is available now, and with a few tweaks and mods (try this AVS forum) it is a fantastic VR headset. With mods it is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the OLED displays are high quality.
