    There is a video of a blind person on youtube who seems to be able to navigate just like a regular person through the use of echoes. He carries and uses a clicker to make sounds.

    There is a group which teaches the blind to locate objects through echoes.

    Total nonsense. Having US born children has nothing to do with granting citizenship. Having US born children will not prevent parents from being deported. Mexican parents with US born children are regularly deported.

    It is not that there are no more great scientists who can make great individual contributions, rather it is that the average scientist has become better and more of them. With so many "very good" scientists it makes it much more difficult for the "great" scientist to stand out.

    Even if you have signed contracts you will still get stiffed. When I have had signed contacts I USUALLY got stiffed usually by very small amounts, but once for a very large amount.

    The problem is collecting the money is not that easy and anything more than a simple matter over a small amount of money will cost thousands of dollars in legal fees. Also, if you use the legal process over a small amount you will never get another contract with that company.

    Now instead, I come to an understanding with a few sentences in an e-mail and use other methods to protect myself.

    It is perfectly legal to discriminate against a 23 year old because he is too young. It is not legal to discriminate against someone over 40 because he is too old.

    Employers are smart enough today to not ask someone their age in an interview. Instead, they get the information they want by asking for the year the candidate graduated.

    Ah, no. Section 78.1 (3) only applies to section 78.1 and not section 78.

    It will outlaw virtually all GPS systems, including factory installed OEM equipment, since almost all of them can do something other than GPS.

    In an airport I was in, the volume of the television was automatically controlled to be greater than ambient noise. Whenever an airline announcer tried to make a public announcement the television volume would increase so that it is louder than the announcement. The airline announcer tried to increase his volume in order to be heard and the television increased its volume even more.

    I assume this law only applies to individuals. If the French version of the RIAA downloaded illegal content (which it does) they are not going to cut off internet access to the French RIAA.

    If the company uses time of day electricity pricing from the utility, electricity is very cheap overnight. It would in such a case make sense for a company to leave the servers on 24/7 and try and run as many batch jobs as possible overnight.

    No. Website owners are free to ignore DMCA take down notices and there are no penalties for ignoring them... they are not injunctions.

    If a website owner ignores a DMCA take down notice then the issuer has to take legal action to get a judge to issue an injunction.

    Wikipedia and most other website owners will comply with a DMCA notice regardless of whether or not it is valid because they don't care and is the simplest thing to do.

    Why not just lie if you already know the material?

    Employers may check degrees but they are not going to check on whether or not you actually completed a couple of night courses.

    I must have interviewed over fifty candidates for IT related jobs over the last several years and I would say about 25% of the people we interviewed were unqualified for the position. While 75% of the people we interviewed were capable of doing the job we still spent an enormous amount of time interviewing because we were looking for the "best people".

    The result of our extensive interviewing was that we were able to hire people who were overqualified for the positions who were willing to work for less that what they should have been able to make elsewhere.

    There are other ways in which an employee can be made subject to a non-compete agreement. When two companies engage in some joint development they may add a clause to their contracts which states they will not hire each other's employees.

    I was turned down for a job in California because I was told I was subject to a non-compete agreement they had made with my former employer. An agreement which I had never agreed to and which I did not even know existed.

    And what they did was a good thing? You are not liable for fraudulent charges to your card your bank is.

    I had a credit card where every time I travelled to a different city they would give me a call about possible fraudulent activity. I cancelled the credit card because I was worried I could be travelling and suddenly find that I don't have a working credit card.
