Well, that's the point, let me ask you, which of the two is a more reasonable judgement? A thousand songs for a quarter of a million bucks (with a fine of ~$250/song) or two dozen songs for almost the same amount (~$9K/song)? If they did the $250 / song for 1000 songs it seems reasonable...

If the basis was ~$9k/song * 1,000 songs, that would equal around 9 million bucks!

The jury was one of the most naive, I bet they could make in in the Top 10 if ever they held such a contest (of being naive)...

I'm okay with bundling, what I hate are those marketing schemes they try to do with the subpar bundling. I had an old friend who brought her new laptop to me for me to take a look and see what I could add to it (I previously had assembled one or two desktops for her a few years ago), she even said that the laptop was with Vista (cause you know, those sales people are bragging about it). I had wished that she consulted me first before buying one and when I had opened it, it was what I had expected.

512MB of RAM on Vista Starter Edition (it's available in my country)

Something died inside of me afterwards and I bet something else died while I am trying to tweak it. I would have put XP on it instead but hesitated since it would mean an additional purchase for her, I just left it on Vista since our meeting was shortlived.

Conclusion: A sales person is a sales person, one worried about sales more than anything else.

I wished instead of marketing it as Vista, they should have said it was the lowest form of Vista possible that would make an otherwise normal laptop into.. I can't say it, something inside me would die again...

Is 47% of HS dropouts that significant? Does that mean that 53% of the dropouts find it NOT boring. What is the % of dropouts compared to those still at school. Wouldn't it be more convincing if we say 47% of current highschool students? Back then (still less than a decade), boring is not the word I would describe HS, more likely I would say HS = Overload of everything much like what it is today. I find specialized HS more attractive, they tend to focus on one (+several related) field the most but dont totally ignore the others. It's like, if you're focused on sciences, spanish history suddenly becomes a minor subject, something you would learn but would not have 100+ items on tests every quarter.. or something like that...

I'd say the biggest factor in determining if it's habitable is going to be its orbit and period, because if it's way off from our 24-hour day or 365~ day year, people would have a harder time adjusting than if it were simply lower gravity or hot or cold.

Fortunately for most of us, the clock on our desktops are the only way we're keeping track of time. (It's always dark in the basement you know)

IMHO, Planetary time (or moon time, etc) is the least of our concerns when considering a habitable planet.

Forty-seven percent of tech pros admit they've kissed a co-worker

Forty-nine percent of male techies say they've fallen asleep at work, while only 35 percent of women admitted doing so.
Here is the explanation: Since only 49% of the men admitted sleeping at work, the 51% must be up to something. 35% of the women admittend sleeping at work, my best guess is that at least 35% ( +/- 5%) of the men who were awake are kissing women who are sleeping. That leaves us with 16% of the male who were awake and not kissing sleeping women. Since 47% admitted kissing a co-worker (we already know that 35% we're males), it means that 12 % of the women we're kissing some of the sleeping men. (This doesn't surprise me). Now we had 16% innocent males and 51% innocent females, if you assume that 5% of the remaining males are on the top management, that roughly equals around 15% of the 51% women being kissed and not admitting it. 10% read slasdot (male obviously) leaving 1% what.. well we still had 36% of the women left...
