That's fine. Your original post DID seem pretentious as our AC friend so...eloquently stated.:p
If you aren't one of the idiot sheep, then I apologize and good for you. However, those people still DO piss me off and your post seemed to imply the mentality.
Contrary to popular belief, there actually ARE mainstream titles that are not steaming piles of shit. I know you guys love to not like things that are popular, but you're being just as stupid as the people that won't watch your oh so awesome rare and underappreciated movies. Case in point, like the movie for what it is and not for how popular it is or is not, because that's the same idiotic bullshit that drives people to listen to only punk music and hate everything else. Your tastes are not automatically better because you like unpopular movies; sometimes the movies are unpopular for a reason. Not to say that's always the case, but it certainly can be.
Or how about we take a look at how much money the company selling the console makes. Either way, Sony isn't doing too well, is it? They lose money on all the hardware they sell AND they aren't selling as much as Nintendo. I don't doubt that they will start picking up as time goes on, but they are definitely not doing very well right now. I'm amazed that they managed to take something as insanely popular as the Playstation and fuck up the launch THAT badly.
What's interesting to note there is that in the US, the PS3 and the Wii aren't really that far apart. You call 700 thousand more not that far apart? Where did you learn math? Alabama?:p The lead in Japan is 300 thousand more than that, but both leads are pretty big considering the total number of units sold. For launch at least, Nintendo pretty much showed Sony who its daddy was.
If you've already got some sort of website going, start logging statistics for it. Get a counter of some kind (like the kind at http://extremetracking.com/ and you can look at who goes to your site. As you start to build the real meat and potatoes you will know what your primary audience. I look at these stats all the time for my websites to make sure that my site look good to the majority of my audience.
I think you're missing the point. I know what it means, but its still wrong...completely. Just because its a commonly used phrase dose not mean the words are being used correctly. Yes, we know the intent of the use of "I could care less there," but again, its still utterly wrong.
Oh, and I don't usually do the grammar nazi thing with random people I don't know...but taht has to be one of the most retarded inaccurate phrases to ever come into existence. x_x
Its pretty obvious this could happen...its voice recognition software. This isn't news so much as an invitation to make fun of Microsoft for the hundreth time. No, this isn't innovative, and no its not really a bug, so much as common sense. If you have a sound file loudly speaking commands over your speakers then naturally that may be picked up by your mic. If you can't figure that out then you probably shouldn't be using the software in the first place.
I would assume Microsoft has this turned off by default if they aren't completely retarded, because people are stupid, but I honestly wonder about that. By all means though, continue making jokes...but there are probably far worse things we could pick out than this. I still don't see why its being called a bug.
See, there's this cool thing we have in the English language called sarcasm. You should look it up some time.
The guy was making fun of the other guy's use of "let my guess" by saying "I'll let your guess." He was playing on the use on Engrish there. The parent you're referring to was what we would call a joke killer, like you. Seriously...how you missed the clear joke here is beyond me.
If you're making a program, make 2 different interfaces available...hell even more. You need to have an interface for idiots to use and that needs to be the default. It needs to be something where they can basically click a few buttons and the program will do everything for them. They don't need 12 thousand options for doing this and that, because they won't even understand half of that shit anyway.
Obviously the other interface will be the full fledged nerd interface. This will have ALL the available options and will not baby the users through anything at all. This way as users become comfortable with the program, or are just good with computers in general, they can switch over to a more advanced interface. This approach always seems like a good idea to me...you can have all kinds of features, but you can build in some defaults for the people that just want it to work. When they figure out how it works...they can dive in at their own perrogative.
I notice the tab bar and all that doesn't actually stick at the top with you. Did they do that on purpose or is that just the way the Wii Opera browser works? If they did that on purpose that would seem a bit silly...you don't want your browsing controls to go away when you scroll down the page. Is it a framed page and the Wii browser simply ignores that and scrolls down or something? It would make much more sense to have a frame thats always there so you can quickly switch between tabs and whatnot whenever you want like the real Opera.
"Yes, it's bogus. You're proceeding from the assumption that everything you're going to buy will break. In reality, very few things we buy will break."
I'd just like to note that history shows that 360's are in fact VERY likely to break. They may have gotten better, but seeing how many of them have overheated or whatever the the hell else, I can understand someone not wanting to take their chances. Then again...you could just not buy one and use that money for a nice video card.:)
What are you talking about? I never EVER saw them say Smash Bros would be there on release. They've been saying 2007 since the game was even announced. Did I miss something here?
I live here and man am I happy to see this, I am tired of asshole tailgaters. Sometimes you're in the left lane for a reason and to be honest I ALREADY speed enough as it is, so the tailgater behind me is USUALLY the asshole weaving in and out of traffic. If I see someone wants to pass behind me and isn't totally tailgating I will usually try to move, but the moment you tailgate me, I slam on my breaks every minute or so until they finally go AROUND me.
I'm also tired of people that drive so damn slow on the freeways. They ALWAYS have to move over into the left lanes and 20 people will whip around them and they still won't budge. People that do that should be banned from the road. If you're not going to speed like there's no tomorrow, you do NOT belong in the left lane. Period. Drive slow with everyone else in the right lanes and quit holding of traffic like an asshat.
That being said, I just wish it was harder to get a license. People here drive like retards and it is really just annoying to have to deal with all these idiots. Maybe the state should require everyone to take a GOOD driving class or something and start handing out more tickets for driving like a pregnant cow. Weaving in and out of traffic in a blind rage while going 100 miles an hour is not driving well, nor is stopping in the middle of the road to look at a god damn accident. Wait to see it on the news and move your damn car, its not like this is some new crazy thing, someone being in an accident, espcially since none of you can drive. Chances are that based on the fact that everyone here generally drives like a moron, you've probably seen a few accidents and there's nothing new to see so just move along.
The best alternative to Myspace and such is usually just a forum. Slashdot works too, not quite as closely knitted, but it will suffice.
Sometimes though, its just less of a hassle to keep in touch with your real world friends if you use Myspace because the chances are that they've already got an account and know how to use it. Therefore you don't have to waste time answering questions about how to post on a forum and stuff.
YES. Red Steel was having a few fuck ups when I played multiplayer. I kept randomly freaking the hell out while we would play and you would suddenly find yourself looking at the ceiling. I think this is more game related than anything else, but I'm gonna wait and see what people are saying.
They mentioned he would be a good candidate and whatnot but failed to note whether or not he would ever even run. I'm fairly sure he has no intentions for running for president. He has his charities and his company, and the moment he becomes president...well...those are kind of fucked aren't they? There's no way in hell he'd have time to look over all of that and be president at the same time. I could be wrong...but I don't think he would.:p
Its a fun notion to toy with I suppose, and I guess that deep down he's a nice guy and all, but there are a fair number of reasons that wouldn't happen. Then again, I know nothing of his political ideologies anyhow, so I'm pretty much just talking out my ass. Seriously though, all that aside, I don't think he would ever even run anyway.
If I was filthy rich I'd personally build my own...but then again...I know how to build a computer. I can't imagine the market for this is THAT huge, but then again I've not nothing to back that up and I don't feel like pulling numbers out of my ass so we'll just go with your theory.:p
Oh by all means, I'd try as hard as I could if it were me, but sitting here (not part of the situation), it seems to me that he's proper fucked. Its worth a shot, but I don't think he has a chance. Sad fact of life is that it takes money to win against money and I doubt this guy has it.
Who cares about prebuilt systems that much anyway? Most PC enthusiasts that are looking for this kind of power are the type that build their own PCs anyway, so who are these companies marketing to?
What would you guys do? Build your own or buy from some random manufacturer?
I'd love to see someone win but there are 2 things here:
First off, who knows if what he is saying will work. If he goes into this he could be wrong and get completely fucked. They will of course offer a settlement, etc etc and everyone will be warm and cozy.
Secondly, if they actually see a threat, they will simply drag it out as long as they can until the defendant runs out of money...at which point they will probably offer another settlement.
He's fucked either way, unless he's rich or something. There is no way for a person to win against the machine.
And you win the prize for completely missing the point of that ENTIRE post. :p
You might want to read up here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm.

You DO realize that the people replying to our ill informed subject are not the ones doing the actual modding, right?

I, for one, welcome our new billionare touting overlords...
Wait a second...
