Unless theyve changed something... forcing this upgrade (which doesnt seem to happen when i open my client) would cause all of the ppc mac users to lose skype access.
5 doesnt have a universal binary release...
i use skype for a lot of meetings and stuff.. losing it would seriously suck.
The USA is OK with using cluster bombs even after lotsa others decided they are a crappy idea.
We decimated japan in ww2 with incendiary bombs and nuclear weapons.. McNamara suggested if we had lost people would have considered our acts war crimes.. but we won...
I think so long as the USA is able to convince people that they are 'the good guys' they can use whatever tactics they want and will be able to rationalize what they do and in the end nobody will stop them until they are seen as the bad guy...
if the USA was the bad guy there would be no debate,.. Military Drone attacks would be considered hostile acts of war and not be tolerated..
people are dying from these attacks.. and not just in libya.
its most assuredly hostile.. and the blown up wedding parties and multiple "oops" moments the military has had over these things really make that clear.
how will i know if a firm is top tier if i am not much of an expert on the things id need for a secure high reliability high availability site? most any hosting place claims they are super secure and great and stuff
Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. conducts research on the stability and preservation of traditional and digital color photographs and motion pictures.
Wilhelm was a founding member of the Photographic Materials Group of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, is a member of the Electronic Materials Group of AIC, and was a founding member of American National Standards Institute/ISO subcommittee IT9-3 (now called ISO WG-5 Task Group 3), which is responsible for developing standardized accelerated test methods for the stability of color photographs and digital print materials
yeah!!! but uhh, maybe this geek website is doing better?
This site has been used to make a lot art at burning man possible as of late.
some of the stuff sucks but there is some fancy high tech art out there that is quite involved... lotsa technical/engineering smarts to make some of the things happen... and survive for the whole event.
i predict that there will be a lot of 'me 2' type replies on this one....
i agree, even as a youtube video the stuff was very compelling.... as was mentioned much of it was stuff i would have likely never seen before.. and hadnt.
Many many amtrak stations are unmanned and have no agents or workers. A train pulls up in the middle of farmland or wilderness to a tiny little shack of a building with some seats, a vending machine and a few lights and the person gets on the train.
You can put all the body scanners you want at the manned stations with agents on duty but you wont do much to help the fact that the bad guys could just ride a few hundred miles down the line and hop on the train in the middle of nowhere without scans and little to no security other than the train crews own vigilance
I start to wonder if microsoft did/does have greater plans for this product later on in the future.... but now theyve had someone beat them to the punch.
My mind isnt well suited to imagining the types of uses this might be good for but after seeing the kinds of things people are doing with it already I have a hard time imagining microsoft didnt have some similar ideas.. and thought profiting off of them might be good.
The amusing and quite cleverly done telescreen kinect as an advertising tool jokes I read here on slashdot were quite fun to see!
But.....I was very bemused to see this today, reported elsewhere:
"Microsoft's Dennis Durkin voiced an interesting idea at an investment summit last week -- the idea that the company's Kinect camera might pass data to advertisers about the way you look, play and speak. "We can cater what content gets presented to you based on who you are," he told investors, suggesting that the Kinect offered business opportunities that weren't possible "in a controller-based world."
And over time that will help us be more targeted about what content choices we present, what advertising we present, how we get better feedback. And data about how many people are in a room when an advertisement is shown, how many people are in a room when a game is being played, how are those people engaged with the game? How are they engaged with a sporting event? Are they standing up? Are they excited? Are they wearing Seahawks jerseys?
I was really starting to worry that these Command & Control things that use IRC chatrooms were going to ruin the good reputation that IRC has built up over the years.
I have been using the rackspace linux cloud computing platform for just under a year and i have to say that it is pretty darn cool.
if this software has every feature that i currently get when buying access (like web front end for dealing with instances.. and the API etc..) it will surely be welcome to some opensource folks.
Seeing the tag cloud reminded me of those sites from the 90s that would put the whole dictionary into the bottom of their page black text on a black background to garner the most hits.
See for yerself:

I've never had that problem with the old red/blue technology.
the problem with 3D Anaglyphs is that the cyan/red filter gets corrected by your eyes after extended use.
The glasses only allow Red into the left eye so your brain compensates by trying to add blue.... and same for the other eye.
So you'd likely still have room for a complaint with some people, because instead of a headache you see Cyan and Red in your vision even with the glasses off!! (except that the colors are reversed from what the glasses were)
Try it out sometime....... look at some 3D images with 3D glasses for 20 minutes without taking them off. Take the glasses off and close one eye, you'll see the room is blue in the eye that had the red filter over it and red for the eye with the blue filter. It is quite disarming !! and FUN!

people are dying from these attacks.. and not just in libya.

I want to know how many of these CIA 'hackers' aren't adults.
surely there is a whiz kid out there just waiting for a movie to be made......
hey, pal... it could be a lot worse, there could be stories about WRESTLING.

price alone?
claims they make?

yay?
My proudest possession is the Dundee Orange Marmalade jar that I still keep on my desk. You either know what that means, or you don't.
Clearly we either know or we don't... but does this mean you aren't gonna tell us?
If not.... why mention it?

what is with this metric stuff? This is NASA, right? 'million kilograms' 'meter-wide'?
why didnt they just list the $1.25M cost in EUROS?

"Maybe we can attach some netbooks, and extend the internet to the clouds."
Really? That's the best way to summarise record-breaking solar flight? A stupid, and basically illogical, pun?
timothy puts the PUN in Punishment

I heard that some people can turn off The Kinect.
To me, the idea that people are thinking of this kind of thing is what this story is about. Not that they might get a patent for it.
the joke of the day would be hiring Steve Case to run Microsoft
remember that one Dr Who episode?
