Well, those reviews are starting to trickle out as the demo units seem to have been shiped out and it is just the time it takes the reviewers to actualy playthrough the games.
We are ofcourse seeing resistance and Z:TP reviews first as those are what everyone is focussing on.
Next week I figgure we will see all of the blog reviews posting their stuff, as well as the (more) credible review sites/mags posting reviews on the lower neame games.
And on a random note: Exitetruck is awsome as a time killer. It didn't feel like a full "I must play through all of this" tpe game (then again racing games never feel like that to me), it DID feel like somethign that you could easily enjoy when you have 10 mins to kill (or as a party game). I will probably be picking up a copy of it.
Because I don't have the cash to buy both and buy games? (food/rent/etc also fit in there somewhere)?
Because I am not interested in spending $500 for a game system that I can not make use of some of the key selling points (I do not have, nor want, an HD TV)?
Because the launch line up (lincluding those announced for 2007) looks relatively pathetic on the PS3 and looks relatively good on the Wii?
Because I am a nintendo fanboy and thus want Mario/Zelda/Metroid/SSB:B?
Are those all enough reasons?
If I had horrible amounts of cash, yes I would buy a huge HD tv, a PS3, a 360, and a Wii as well as all of the games I MIGHT like. However, I am not rich, and thus I will stick with the ONE I think will give me the greatest return on my investment.
As the GP said, it was unintentional, and knowing blizz's support, they PROBABLY will make good on this (they simply have not had the time to actualy take the proper acctions).
There is a difference between accidently banning people running your client in an unsupported (and thus, untested) platform, and doing all that and not unbanning said players.
give em a few days and they will probably fix it simply b/c this WOULD cause a rather large backlash. before anyone starts on "blizz never listens to their customers" you need to remember, there is another difference between a large accidental set of bans, and nerfing your favorite class/dungeon/race/weapon/tallent/spell/exploit.
Actualy, Blizz does have a line (it is very thi and rather hazy) about what is and what is not legal. The big thing is that you are not alowed to use 3rd party programs, you have to stick with WoW's scripting/macro/API/whatever. This alowes them to also make case by case rullings on things simply by changing their code to break mods they don't like. A (semi) recent example is that you can nolonger perform 2+ spells with one button press.
I will flat out state I am a nintendo fanboy (I spent about 3 hours online to get to play the Wii last weekend).
For those that don't know: You can go to the Nintendo World Store at Rockafeler center in NYC to play the Wii (opened last weekend, they have 12 consoles, no redsteel or Zelda sadly)
I got to watch alot of games (including a WWII game I didn't catch the name of) as well as play Exite Truck.
some random notes: 1) The graphics are actualy rather good. They probably are not as good as a 360 on a 50" plasma or anything (these were all on wide screen LCDs), however even the WWII Game looked good! Admitedly I am one of those Gameplay > graphics people, however I will stick to my guns that everything there (including the grity WWII game) LOOKED good.
2) The controller was my one wory, if it didn't respond the way they advertised then it was obviously gona be a crash. It works. Playing exitetruck was awsome. I watched pleanty of people playing wii sports games, the guy I stood in line with played the Rayman game (it is an FPS) and he said it was great. They have a Rampage remake and it is rather amusing (much like the old rampage it is a social game, you look silly thrashing the controller about to make your beastie stop/smack/tailwhip the buildings). And the DBZ game they had runnign actualy looked really nifty (all of your specials and what not were done via controller movements).
3) The games they had up are: Some WWII game, DBZ something or other, Rayman, Maden (I payed no attention to this), Monkeyball (looked good), Exite Truck, Rampage, Wii Sports. I dont' know if this will be rotated or anything.
On another random note: Even nintendo is not 100% behind the Wiimote. In an interview they flat out said that SSB:B will be ussing a non-motion controll scheam (aka, grab your GC controller, it will work for SSB:B).
So yah, here is a declared fanboy posting to point out a few things going for nintendo.
As a note, I am not a raving fanboy, I dont' want to see Sony or MS fail in the gaming market. I don't think that Sony is goign to do to well with the PS3 (based on current track record), but I am open to suprises. I am glad that the 360 is shaping up to be a good system, and they are getting some exelent games on it, and a VARIETY! This was my big gripe about the XBox, few games I was honestly interested in, most of the big games were sports/racing, the only game I am still really interested in on the xbox is Ninja Gaiden.
I also have MS to thank for honestly bringing online play to consoles (yes, the DC, PS2, and NGC all had it, but XBox really craked the market open). I don't think their subscription bassed service is the correct model (I am glad that Nintendo is promising all first party games will be free online), however they still started it up.
I tihnk you are right. We will see the technologicly bleeding edge games go to the 360 and the PS3, and we will not see many of them on the Wii. I was honestly suprised to see Madden on the Wii as normaly they do everytinh they can to make the game look purdy (I hate sports games, pardon my bias). However, I think the graphics are good enough to make an offering from any genre, any playstyle, and any "mood".
It is actualy a realyl interesting page to read, it is mostly just one person who came across the meme (as it really is just an internet meme) and did a little bit of rscreeah (research) into it.
the triangle is standard, w.r.t I THINK is also standard, b/c I am not so sure of, though it might be. (b/c is common for proffs who are putting something up on a blackboard).
In college I rarely actualy wrote something down, it either went into my visor (it was a sad day when the screen broke and I found out that they no longer exist) or was typed directly into my computer. The few times I actualy had to write something (generaly for a test) I would sit there and have ot remind my self not to write a 7 instead of a T, how K and E are formed, and a slew of other horrible things...
I have spent WAY to much time playing FPS games, I can read that all fluently.
And he sin't even making it all that hard

I am not going any further.
Admitedly, learning leet does have a good purpose, you can make very secure passwords.
1) Take a word you will remember 2) Write it backwards/ROT13 or what ever you want 3) Leet it ussing substitutions you personaly use, if they alow non alphanumeric chars, all the better 4) ????? 5) Profit?
When a major third party tells us "We want to see Sony fail," there's a problem.
Who said this?
seriously, I don't remember anyone saying they WANT Sony to fail, most comments I have seen have been a desire to see all 3 systems do well, for a more open and competative game market....
and Sega had a failing reputation as well. Combine that with online play not being the key seller that it is not (thanks largely to the XBox), and not particularly good marketing done by Sega, and you might start seeing a few differences.
Remember, people who make up lists of similareties between major events also try to corilate the killing of JFK and Lincoln.
Some one who wants to play a number of upcoming games that are touted to be "vista only"
In all honesty that has always been what has forced me to upgrade my computer.
I ran DOS (and a bit of 3.11) untill 95 was required for new games. I ran 95 till 2K/ME (I picked 2K for obvious reasons) was required. I still run 2K as there are no games that require XP.
It looks like I eventualy will have to buy a copy of Vista (thank god I work for an College and can get copies relatively cheap)
the $200 thing was a typo, and as I couldn't reply, I never got to note it:P
As for the PS3 supporting CF/SD/Memsticks I am honestly suprised, that is the first I have seen any mention of it. I am aslo suprised as memsticks is one of those things sony has tried to drag into popular ussage despite all signs to the contrary (could this be Sony actualy getting a clue? if so then I am glad for em).
Admitedly, a flashcard reader on a device with a HDD is kinda odd (unless you honestly are buyign into sony's "our console does EVERYTHING!!!!!" gig, I for one am not).
Oh, and that price for a HDD is still just silly, you can generaly find a HDD going for around 20-40 cents a gig now/
the 3 differences are: 1) HDD space 2) Integrated Wirelless NIC 3) Sony Mem Stick reader
that is it. Does this add up to $200 to any one else?
Heh, of course the Wii has 2 out of those 3. A $250 system INCLUDES 2 out of 3 items that covers the difference between the $400 and a $600 verssions of another system, with the 3rd item rolling in around $20-40.
yah, somethign just aint right.
When the $400 version didn't have HDMI it sorta made sense to drop the extra $200, now it really just does not.
I actualy bothered to RTFA and found out that 1up is getting their "sources" by searching the ESRB website for new raitings (simply limit it to the Wii).

and by IGN you are reffering to 1UP (and other organizations owned by the Ziff Davis group), right?
IGN actualy seems to be giving decent reviews all around (especialy the Zelda:TP review)....
Because I don't have the cash to buy both and buy games? (food/rent/etc also fit in there somewhere)?

No, that is the little old lady nextdoor D/Ling a CP BT using your connection.
The FBI should be there shortly to deal with you.

this is actualy almost pure bull!
The proof

For the most part they are only good for finding relatively new games, they rarely will update older games.
If anyone else knows of good freeware pages, please let me know. However gamehippo is the clossest thing I have found to being good.
(and thanks for the link, I love finding new games
I dono, I wouldn't call implementing online play fixing a bug in online play, I would call it bootstrapping it onto the system after release.
Who said this?

err, TFSummery is badly worded
the dreamcast was the one boasting everything (including superior online play).
honestly, I was still a PC Fanboy at the time, and thus didn't pay any attention to the dreamcast and really do not know much about it.
The first couple paragraphs reminded me of all the great games that I used to play from epic and the other companies like them.
we need more games like that.
GameHippo is currently where I (LEGALY) get my fix for those types of games for anyone else getting the craving.
I did not know that.
admitedly, I have no interest in either game.
(quick google tells me that it is simply a lock out and not actualy incompatable)

Will we all look like Tron Guy?
Would a Virtual Wii be an E-Penor? Will they come in different sizes?
Wife jokes aside.
The entire "babys taste like chiken" and such are actualy rather off.
We are RED meat, and thus would taste like beef or pig).
If anything babies would taste like veal.

either way, it is awsome to see a scientific aproach to problemsolving
I actualy bothered to RTFA and found out that 1up is getting their "sources" by searching the ESRB website for new raitings (simply limit it to the Wii).
Kinda interesting actualy....
