I was in 11th grade German at the time. We were in the middle of a party enjoying a delicious Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black forest Cherry Cake). Kinda changed the mood dramatically since we were 40 minutes from DC (central Maryland) in an area where almost everybody works in DC or in other federal government jobs in the area. The place I currently work at had a crew onsite at the Pentagon and was working on installing a new library (which was destroyed by the crash). Fortunately, everybody was at the loading dock waiting on supplies at the time and nobody was hurt. Kinda of weird how small the world can be at times.
That said.... It is a shame how we have let this tragedy push us further down the slippery slope that our nation (and most other 1st world countries) has been sliding down for decades. We are the least free that we've ever been, and it's getting worse daily. America is, and has been, in a position to move the world in any direction it wants (whether the rest of the world likes it or not) and it's a shame that we can't leverage that position to do some real good. America does many good things, but it also does some high profile dickish things; and those are what we are remembered for.
I know it's naive and unreasonably optimistic, but if we could collectively grow up and work together on building the culture that we so proudly proclaim we already have: A culture that values liberty, freedom, and all the other values we claim to have; then, maybe we could actually make the world a better place, starting with right here. It's a fools errand to work to that end though, it goes against human nature to actually care about others. It's much easier to pretend to, all the while thinking about yourself or maybe a select group you are attached to.
It doesn't matter if the American dream ever existed; we can still make it exist today if we all (including those at the top) want it to.
Why can't you run Chrome on Linux? I'm using it right now in Ubuntu 10.10. http://google.com/chrome has binaries for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, and openSUSE. You can always get the Chromium source and build for any distro without binaries.
I want a business training game based of Half-Life, that game seemed to outline pretty ordinary situations you might encounter working in a research lab. You know, experiments going horribly wrong accidentally brining about an alien invasion, which cause the government to destroy all evidence and kill everybody to cover up the existence of your workplace. That sort of stuff happens at least twice a week.
Whats funny is I can almost guarantee that he brought the 360 from vertical to horizontal causing the damage in the first place.
What's funny is that you don't know what you are talking about. I really hate it when people assume that just because they haven't had a problem then nobody has. I personally have gone through 8 copies of Guitar Hero 2 which I bought a scratch warranty on after the first one went ($10 at Gamestop). Each copy has the same scratch and the system is always horizontal. I read somewhere the issue was due to a lack of optical head restriction and that the head reading the disc actually rises too high and scratches the disk. This has nothing to do with moving the consle.
I'm going to assume you haven't played the Wii yet.. I own 2, and even with my friends who flail the controller around as if they were trying to fling it into orbit, it is nearly impossible to lose the controller unless you let go. Even then if you are wearing the strap you can't lose it under normal use and the controllers are quite durable (apparently more so then the objects people are smashing them into). I've seen the same videos you guys have and the fact is the idiots who break their strap are either trying to or are to retarded to know how to grip a stick.
They only say that beacuse Microsoft over promised with the XBox 360 last year and really burned retailers who counted on their numbers. What it means is that GameStop "thinks" that it can fill your order, but they don't want to be responsable if they can't. In reality, while it would be nice to be guaranteed, GameStop won't do that any more because they don't want the ill will. That said, it is really nice of them to only sell what they are 90% sure they are getting, rather then taking everybody's order no matter what.
I got one too. I went at 6am and the store opened at 10am, mine gave out 27 and let 3 employees get one. I was second in line, the next person did not arrive until 7am; the first person was there at 5am.
You are right. I didn't dig deep in obscure menus to kill this annoyance that (1) should not be the in the first place and (2) should have a turn off option right on the pop-up. I know, it's an old glitch. Netscape has had it going WAYYY.... back.
glitch 1 : a usually minor malfunction ;
2 : a minor problem that causes a temporary setback
3 : a false or spurious electronic signal
I'm not sure how putting options in the "Options" dialog is a "glitch". I'm pretty sure implementing a clean UI free of clutter, rather then including every option possible on every pop-up for lazy/ignorant users, is not a glitch. There is nothing wrong with this feature being on in the first place, since there is nothing to stop you from turning it off or clicking "No". Please keep in mind not everybody cares if their passwords to trivial things are stolen, this feature is great for passwords like that.
I'm going to assume you never looked under Tools->Options->Privacy->Passwords because there is this handy checkbox that turns off saving passwords. The reason it is on by default is because many users would think Firefox didn't have that feature, since most users don't look at the options screen. Firefox has always had the ability to turn this off completely, as well as the ability to turn it off by domain; offering much better control then IE. Really there is no reason to use IE as your primary browser, just get the IE tab plugin for Firefox so that when you hit a stie that dosn't work you can switch to IE to use it.
You're forgetting that not all of us have our tin foil hats pulled over our eyes.... Seriously, if you have important information it's important to protect it with a secure system, but most web browsing machines don't have important information. Just because somebody dosn't care enough to secure their system dosn't mean they are ignorant. I for one am sick of security nuts assuming that every comuter should be a fireproof safe. If you know you aren't secure and you have no need to be, I don't see a reason to waste processor cycles. Besides you can always reformatt if something bad happens.
Yes, the main cause of the breakup of the SNES CD project was due to contract terms, however the project was initiated when SEGA started devloping the SEGA CD, by the time the project was cancled SEGA CD was already doing poorly. Square had started working on other projects for the SNES CD and was about to start making FF:7, like you said it would take a massive cart to hold such a game and Nintendo did not intend on trying again for a CD system after the failure with Sony and Philips.
I'm suprised nobody even mentioned that the Playstation, which was what killed SEGA, was originally a joint project with Nintendo to make a SNES/Super Famicon CD system to compete with SEGA CD. Nintendo saw how bad SEGA CD was doing and bailed on Sony, causing them to lose game developers who had already begun working on games for the new add-on(like Squaresoft's Final Fantasy 7). If SEGA never tried the CD bit then Sony would not be making systems today.
As a Stepmania/Stepmania Online Dev. I know for a fact that Stepmania is "successful" and indy. SM has even spawned it's own arcade game, In The Groove, which has had two iterations, both were also released on the PS2. Stepmana also supports many Bemani(rythm) games other then it's Dance Dance Revolution clone, including:
PUMP (DDR w/ Center and Diagnoal based Pad)
TechnoMotion (DDR w/ Normal and Diagonal based pad)
Why do you think we don't see that many successful role playing games without statistical numbers? Easy, they DON'T SELL!
Actually I'd be amazed if somebody could make a game that uses no statistics, because anything that involves interation(or is dynamic) has at least 1 statistic by definition. Statistics are in place to make the game function and to emulate reality to the desired extent. If I am to follow your statement the more stats a game has the more it will sell... That must be why D&D is regemented to only a sub section of geeks while games with fewer stats that are easier to pick up like WoW/FF:XI/EQ are played by even casual gamers.
I, personally, am astonished that people can FORCE themselves to SIT until they DIE.
OK, serously, how the hell can you find something enjoyable for more then a few hours. I play games all the time; I even read Slashdot while flying in WoW, but I cannot play that game for more then 8 hours with out dying(in game) from lack of attention to my health bar. it just stops being fun after a while and becomes a chore. What do I do? I LOG OFF and DO SOMETHING ELSE! I can see being stuck longer then you want in a raid or something but not 50 hours. I'd be like you guys have wiped over and over for the past 12 hours... bye!
I don't claim to have a life, I sit around and play games all day, but I get up off my ass every few hours even if it's to roam aimlessly becuase I have to walk. i just don't understand how life could suck so much that you don't move for 50 hours. I guess life in S. Korea is allot crappier then here in the US.

What about Stepmania
Photoshop 6 works fine for me in plain old wine. The App DB says up to 7 works. CS and CS2 appear to have problems still....

I submitted this as a story yesterday as well; however, I made sure not to use the word "tomorrow" in case it did get posted.

Some of us pay attention to what we are doing... why should that button be all by itself on the left.
That is supposed to say use ... </I>
I hope that is sarcasm! Use ... next time.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Creative MP3 Players have drag and drop interfaces(like a flash drive) that don't use WMP. I don't se why anybody would want anything other than this.
