Companies, especially financial but also any company being "risk-evaluated" need to be able to "continue normal operation" in max. 24-hours, if they can't they risk-evaluation will drop and then they will be devalued, which technically means that their worth will drop. For an A+ or A rated company such devaluation is catastrophic because loan are based on this rating and will need to be paid immediately. That means effectively that any piece of mission critical software or hardware need to either be replaced or fixed in under 24-hours.

What slows Windows down are not the updates. You can have a Windows server running for years, installing updates and never slowing down.
You user profile is what is slowing your Windows down (the content of c:\users\%USERNAME%), and NO you can't just delete it... try to login with a new user and you'll see.

The digtal world has miserably failed the long time archiving problem.

Change to low power light sources and use the spare energy on efficient heating, you will save power and money even in Wisconsin.

For Nokia Android would not be a race to the bottom because Nokia IS already on the bottom... if you do not earn anything then anything that would raise your earnings is a better solution even if it is Android.

Last I've checked almost all consultants that comes to us has changed their PC Laptops to Apple Laptops... this has happened in the exact same 5 quarters Gartner is reporting about. I am NOT talking about management consultants or other non-tech consultants, I'm talking about hardcore IT people.
