    Of course, your question is a lot like asking:
    "I play Starcraft, but want to switch to console gaming. What RTS should I try?"...sure, there are some mediocre answers and pathetic attempts, but trying to find an alternative to one of the best games of a genre on a platform that generally doesn't cater to that genre means you will be disappointed.

    You haven't played Super Mario War, have you? the game its based on is basically a simple death match mode of Super Mario where you try to jump on the other player, and this updated version adds power ups from the various games into the mix. It's probably what this new super mario bros game will devolve into after a few minutes of "friendly co op gameplay", though hopefully Nintendo will include a death match mode too.

    Since everyone else just seems to tell you to get a console, I'd thought I'd actually list a few good PC games that are actually fun to play multiplayer on the same screen. Yes, they do exist. It's a great platform for the task, and if people started actually taking it seriously as such, we could probably see more games like this.

    Worms Armageddon (already been mentioned a few times)

    Heboris (great customizable two player Tetris game)

    Mate at the very least you'd be interested in Super Mario War. Like most homebrew games: not the sexiest graphics, but suprisingly good, and fun.

    By the way, those voices are from Unreal Tournament. It even says so on their website. Looks like good stuff, though. Might have to try it out. Seems that it also plays on Windows and Linux.
