Re:Some Subtle Nationality Bashing Anyone?since when is Rugby a french game?
Not rugby, I was refering to the comparison to petanque.... I had to look up that game online to find out what the article meant, and realized it was intended to be a slur.

Dear God
I read it as "Saturn Has a Worm Hole" and I was like "Dear God!" Not that a warm pole is a bad news, but discovering a worm hole (a theoretical distortion of space-time in a region of the universe that would link one location or time with another, through a path that is shorter in distance or duration than would otherwise be expected) would be an outsnadning breakthrough. For anyone interested, more info here.

Re:*Shudder*It's called Gallows Humor. It is a coping method many people use to deal with a situation that is extremely serious/depressing/etc. Try not to judge them too harshly, its just their way of dealing with it.

Jargon explanationTrolltech? No thanks. Not until they shed some light on their dealings with Canopy.
I have a better idea: let's shed some light on the apocryphs used in the story. Seriously, I had hard time to hunt all of those definitions. Here's a handy list of links for anyone who is not up to date with "ppd," "glitz" and other bloody-edge jargon: I hope it helps. (Your comment has too few characters per line (currently 20.2).) -

Re:it begs the question
...
Q: Why should I vote for Kerry
A: Because Bush has no plan to get us out of Iraq
Begs the question: Does Kerry have a plan to get us out of Iraq?
I hate to break it to you, but you don't get it either. Your examples only raise the question about the validity of the premiss but they are not examples of circular reasoning! You have demonstrated exactly the same incorrect usage of most of people only applying it to a logical argument, which is not the same as showing proper petitio principii example in the first place. Begging the question is not raising a question about a logical argument. And the "question" does not mean "asking" for fucks sake! It has nothing to do with asking questions! Please look up "question" in a dictionary and see that there is more than just the first meaning. Then read about circular reasoning on Wikipedia and on FallacyFiles.org and you'll see that you were completely wrong. Why am I being an asshole pointing it out? Because you act like a freakin alpha and omega of logic bitching about incorrect usage, and then demonstrate exactly the same incorrect usage thinking that begging the question involves asking questions. Next time read about topics you are going to bitch about if you want to be such a smartass. Otherwise it looks just pathetic. -

Yup, noticed that. Though I think what you wanted to say was, "In case anybody's wondering what a hyperlink is..." ;) -

Answers.com uses wikipedia.
Interestingly, if you search for the Lebesgue Integral in answers.com, you get an article from Wikipedia.
Now, the question is whether this is good for Wikipedia (more people see its contents) or bad (fewer people even know that they could/should improve Wikipedia)? -
Re:Want to make PHP more secure?
Give us some free and good tutorials online as to how to secure PHP code. Show us some old exploits and how to avoid falling in the same traps like that again.
http://phpsec.org/projects/guide/
http://phpsec.org/library/Give courses all over the world that go in-depth regarding these matters.
I'm not sure if this counts, but Zend offers online training, and one of their advanced courses is Securing PHP Code.
I love working with PHP but the constant screwing around with globals, superglobals and what-have-ye-not really make security a nightmare on it.
There are two scopes. If that's too many, programming might just not be your thing.
Those among us who are serious about PHP want actions, not propaganda.
This is in reply to the bit you quoted? If so, perhaps this will help:

Re:Whatever happened..
His reasoning is wrong. He wants to call slavery "feudalism" because he sees it as people being forced to be vassals to a higher-ranking offical, and completely ignores the fact that until the 3/5 rule was created, slaves weren't even considered people (and thereafter until emancipation were only fractionally human). Feudalism doesn't apply to property (feudal vassals weren't bought or sold, they just lived on their lord's land), otherwise my ownership of my house and forcing it to allow me to stay there would be feudalistic too.
My guess as to why he tries to "hide" the evils capitalism has brought mankind is that he so very much wants companies to be able to trod on whoever might be underfoot, but still wants to look at himself in the mirror in the morning and not see the cold-hearted asshat that he is staring back at him. -
Re:"Chimera" other uses of the word
A lovely medical conditiion, indeed.
For Pop Culture references (OMG, spoiler maybe.):
Fortunately for America the oft lauded crime-drama about forensic scientists, CSI has done an episode which involved a criminal who was such one Chimera. For anyone who is really curious about plot-twisting speculation one CSI episode already asked the question. The episode in question is Bloodlines.
And of course, one of my particular passions is marine biology:
There are also some marine critters which exibit both plant and animal charcteristics. Although referred to also as Chimera, this I've generally known to be a misuse as most of the dual-animals are colonies.
