Yeah, he really does, a cursory glance at his own homepage should be enough to confirm that.

I mean, holy crap -- this is not your regular hatemonger. Even the Icelandic government, which gave him Icelandic nationality to get him out of detention in Japan, is "filthy dirty CIA-controlled" because the prime minister refused to personally intervene in his personal banking conflict.

Poor man, he knew not what he did. The pressure clearly got to him. Let's remember him for his greatness and consider his mental decline a symptom of his show and tragic process of dying. RIP.

Fischer was truly epic in his takedown of the Russian "machine". Then the American politicians screwed him for playing the immortal game during a temporal war.

Syntax highlighting, multiple windows, extensions for all kinds of things and the ability to add your own extensions when you want/need to.

A while ago I played a little bit on FICS and I found some of the language used by players to be disturbing. A small fraction was very racist and a much larger fraction was very anti-US.

Then again I think chess drives some people nuts. ie Bobby Fischer.

Bobby Fischer does not wish to return to the Jew-controlled USA where he faces a kangaroo court and 10 years in Federal prison and a likely early demise or worse on trumped political charges. Nor does he wish to remain in a hostile brutal and corrupt U.S.-controlled Japan.

He urgently requests at immediate offer of political asylum from a friendly third country.

On September 30, Bobby Fischer began his rematch with Boris Spassky in Sveti Stefan, Yugoslavia.

Interesting. I was just down in Montenegro for some vacation (in Kotor) and had a look at Sveti Stefan from the road. (It's in Montenegro.)

Sveti Stefan is basically a little island covered by a big classy hotel. It's the most exclusive tourist spot in Montenegro, and possibly the most exclusive in the former Yugoslavia.

Other trivia: Fischer was hanging out in Budapest for I don't know how long (but a good while), being secretive and paranoid and anti-semitic and all those other nice BF things. A friend of mine claimed to have gone to repair his computer, and to have swiped a copy of his work-in-progress (a giant anti-semitic and anti-US paranoid rant, surprise surprise).

I offered to post it on the Net but the friend was afraid he'd get in trouble. I never did read it.

While I disagree with just about everything he has to say he did mention (paraphrase) "now that the Cold War is over and now they want to wipe me out because I am useless." He's probably right. The USSR was using their hand picked superstars (athletes mostly) to make their country seem superior. Bobby Fischer certainly made the US look much better than usual in that regard, but he has the view that he single-handedly changed the view of the United States from a baseball and football (US) country to one of intellectuals... This I just don't agree with. Maybe for that brief moment in time (1972). It's certainly not considered that now (or in 2001).

Recently a great many parents have come to harbour self-centered desires. They claim that schools should give their children not only education but also some very essential discipline. That's a terrible problem. In my opinion, parents are responsible for home training, and they have to raise their kids to be "human beings" before they enter school. the remake of Pirates! is currently under development by Firaxis Games. It should see a release later this year.

You might want to contact Toys for Bob for an update for Archon as well as the (mentioned below) Mail Order Monsters as Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III may be able to help there. They were the ones who released their Star Control II to us as the somewhat updated Ur Quan Masters.

If you know how chess works, when two people both go exactly by the book, it produces a draw.

Gary Kasparov had no chance in hell at playing against deep junior in a game of REAL chess without using scripted or planned moves because then he'd lose, the computer has superior logic.

On the highest level all the games are fake, the players all follow script, they use computers to figure out the best moves then they play for show, move by move going based on the script.

Yes, the music blew everything else away at the time. Interesting trivia : Paul Reiche III (SC2 game designer) actually announced a music competition on Usenet in 1992 to get music for the game. See Google for an archive of the original message... $50 bucks each for the winners... hmmmm.
