Re:motoIt'd be kind of nice if instead of the usual "Republicans are evil" flamefest, A noble thought, but ripping on a bastard like Limbaugh is just to much fun.

Re:Terrorism starts...
Yes, these were factors in the way facism developed in Germany, but don't fool yourself. Facism is alive and well in this country too.

Re:But Ashcroft said that terrorism was defeated
I read something above about phosporous(sp?) bombs that would fit nicely under the chemical warfare category. Dunno if they only just started using those. Maybe they replaced the uranium ammo after learning about them.

MOD PARENT UP - interestingIf you read the article cited above from tompaine.com, you might disregard it as anti-Republican propaganda... until you note the author, Greg Palast.
Perhaps some of you would recognise this name, especially if you've been following the allegations of electoral fraud in the last two US presidential elections. I recognise the name from reading this article.
(If you can't be bothered reading about this, you can this Flash movie instead, or watch the start of Fahrenheit 9/11.)
As for the links in the parent post, those exit polls are just scary. From this, we know that (1) Ohio was a close result, (2) Diebold is based in Ohio, (3) Diebold is pro-Republican, (4) Diebold counted the Ohio electoral votes (essentially), and (5) at least six states that used electronic voting machines showed massive red swings against predominantly blue exit polls.
Will the US public still fall for Bush's claims to the legitimacy of his presidency? It depends if people do anything about it or not. Personally, I think that Katherine Harris, Jeb and George Bush, and the entire Diebold staff should all be thrown in jail for what happened in 2000, which amounts to nothing short of fraud - but hey, that's just me, right?

authorization based on lies != authorization
If I hire Dick Cheney to tell you and 74 of your friends that some person is going to bomb Washington with anthrax drones that don't acutally exist, aluminum centrifuge tubes that don't actually exist, and yellowcake from Nigeria that doesn't actually exist, and you all vote to bomb that person first, does that mean you authorized it?
Of course not. Bush and Cheney knew exactly what they wanted, and they wouldn't accept any CIA report that didn't agree with their presuppositions. That isn't leading, that is managing a lie.
When you lie to someone, you take their liberty by preventing them from acting on accurate information.
Deceiving Congress on war matters is a serious felony. By trying to claim that an authorization gained under false pretenses is an actual authorization, you are not only aiding and abbetting the felons, you are also undermining your own reputation, the reputation of your family, your church, your employer, and your party.
When you are given your heavenly rewards, I pray that God reminds you in full omniscient detail of all the birth defects and cancers which would not have occured if those convicted drunk drivers had not obtained the authorization of force that they had to lie to obtain. Here's a preview. -

You're right that we can debate the wisdom of the vote, and that, dear Pudge, is most certainly on topic.

Re:It was obvious to me...
What the hell is with Adult Swim and Rush, anyway?
"The office terror alert level has been raised from blackwatch plaid to the cover of the seminal Rush album, Moving Pictures."
And for the record, both Rushes suck. Although, the fat one is a living demonstration of the maxim that he who takes the most drugs is always the superior musician. -
Even if it works..
you still have the potential of something like this happening..

Can't say I'm surprised
Clearly US economic interests can't be asserted to satisfaction with their current army and Weapons Of Mass Destruction.
But it's easy to see why some people could find this a little disturbing, or even hypocritical. You see, from my point of view, I understand that Australia's drug prohibition laws are a direct result of pressure from the US government. When I go out to a rave to have a good night ( or 2 ), and take a very soft drug that gives me a little energy ( and God forbid, makes me happy ) my government reserves the right to arrest and gaol me for 'breaking the law'. But when the US military use drugs regularly to increase their 'effectiveness as killing machines', that's the best thing since sliced bread.
Of course creating drug-fucked killing machines that go on the rampage for 5 days straight has no affect on the families of said soldiers when they return home from the killing fields. In fact they promptly return to what is wildly recognised as normal behaviour for US citizens, and everyone lives happily ever after ... apart from me, because I'm locked up for 10 years for taking some Ecstacy and proclaiming my love for life.
Fuck the US. -
Re:DARPA's usage of this technology
Technological advances in US's Weapons of Mass Destruction has so far not decreased the casualty rate, but increased it.
Look at the statistics from Iraq. They basically had no army worth fighting. They were crippled by 10 years of UN sactions. They were a few small steps away from being armed with rocks and sling-shots.
The US army was far superior technologically. But 10,000 civilians died, and millions more are going to die because of Depleted Uranium poisoning.
Pumping yet more money into the US military will certainly not save any lives. -
