After purchasing two of Palm's high end smart phones in the past, I've learned my lesson. They *DO NOT* support their phones. As soon as there's even an idea of a newer phone coming out, they drop all support for existing platforms and no more updates are ever seen for yours.
For example, they're currently releasing updates for the Centro series (a $99 phone) but not their 750series (a $500 phone) that are just over a year old. Way to reward your business customers palm.
Mayan's aren't the only ones that have a calendar that has an interesting timeline, Nasa too has predicted the beginning of Solar Cycle #24 which hits its maxis around 2012. Between possibilities of a geomagnetic reversal, super coronal mass ejections and the gravitational affects on our planet and sun as we pass through the galactic equinox should provide for some interesting times!
It's not that they really *need* one. But these days keeping up with grandma and grandpa and sending things to family and friends is far more common through email than pen / paper. So why not get then adapted with their own account, teach them things like email management and security.
I have a 5 year old, she has a linux desktop and picked her own password. She successfully uses ubuntu for everything she wants to do and I got her an account so I can help her email family and "Santa" etc.
Why is this even relevant since we already know they assisted with warrantless wiretapping? Are they trying to prove they have a conscience or prove that they've got ethics and respect our privacy so long as no one else asks them to violate it? What a joke. I will never support AT&T or Verizon in any way that I'll be aware of.
How would a Judge rule against him without breaking the law?
Better yet, lets say they were "copyrighted". Who do you contact for consent? The lawyer who drafted it? The citizen who paid for it to be drafted? Or the representatives who voted it in?
We've got an entire political system built-up around corporations and special interest groups persuading and drafting laws that will directly affect citizens...
If we're going to arrest people, can we start with the Microsofts and the General Motors of the world and then if we have any space left in the prisons, we'll work out what to do with the kids?
Microsoft has caused business to lose in working hours from:
* Work / time lost directly due to viruses
* Work / time lost indirectly due to dealing with spam / botnets (due to insecure Windows Machines)
* Incompatibilities between MS Office versions
* Certifying what Hardware / Software Vista REALLY supports
etc etc.
I'd have to imagine that the bottleneck would be Microsoft before anything like carpal tunnel, RSI, MS, or blindness.
Actually the reason Sun hired them is they've made a commitment to get Glassfish http://glassfish.dev.java.net/ running other higher level languages besides Ruby. So now they've got some jruby developers and jython developers. They're really trying to push their appserver platform, and with the acquisition of MySQL, they have a complete stack under their roof (SunOneWeb, Glassfish, MySQL) not to mention, OpenDS, OpenSSO, Metro, among other things.
Sun is going after the ruby and python developers because they're diversifying. Sun's biggest software competitor is IBM which directly or indirectly controls all of its products and their dependencies.
The core of his argument is that these "facts" smear his image. So you can't go let one person "smear your image" while crying fowl that another did the same.
If the argument alone were that they were using his name, thats fair use. The issue is HOW they used his name.. so you can't set a double standard and say X person can defame you while Y person can't.. because then you agree its not defamation OR you openly admit that you didn't do everything you could to mitigate damages in which case you lose ANYWAY.
Its like when SCO said "You're all breaking the law by distributing our code under the GPL!!" while distributing that EXACT same code under the GPL. You either A) agree that the code is GPL'd or B) agree that you yourself are guilty of the SAME EXACT THING and therefore didn't do due diligence to protect yourself which most courts would deny you any damages based on suffering.
Isn't this kind of hypocritical since he allowed Mike Huckabee to take advantage of that same reputation using those same exact "Chuck Norris Facts" in one of his ad campaigns? Just search on youtube for chuck norris.
A lot of people feel like they can protect their privacy with AES or 3DES or whatnot, but fail to realize that it was either developed by or for the government in question.
The safest way to protect your data with encryption is to develop your own cipher and don't publish how it works. I know the security through obscurity critics will gnaw on me for saying that but it is another layer of security.
If the NSA have cracked AES / TwoFish / 3DES etc, then you'll be damn sure they've found a way to automate the detection of weak keys and cracking.. but if something comes across the wire that doesn't match what they're expecting, additional effort has to go into analyzing and cracking it.
In summary, if you believe using a cipher that your government has adopted for its standard secures you from their prying eyes, you're most likely delusional regardless of the supposed computing power required to brake it.
You know.. its fucking hard enough to get ANY vendor to support the linux platform with drivers and the video card vendors have been the best about this.. and now you all bitch about not letting any non-free drivers into Ubuntu and the likes? If I were Nvidia or ATI, I'd just say "Fine, we'll just cut that out of our development budget and let the liberal weenies hack it themselves..". THIS IS NOT COOL..
What will other hardware vendors say in the future? I sure as hell wouldn't bother if I was one.. its a thankless position to be in..
Cookies BAD!!!
Bad NSA Bad!!!
btw, its pretty sad I had to edit this post to take out the all caps on all of five words because I couldn't get past the "lameness filter".
Lameness filter == lame

after all was said and done, the royal and french navy's had to make sure their stories corroborated eachother.

Just compile a list of all the extremely illegal and unethical things you're doing as a government and find the groups of people most impacted.
Let those people simmer for 5-10 years under your asshattery and let cool. Presto! A tasty terrorist.. Bon Appetite!

Whats the EU equivalent of Sourceforge? =D
and yet.. its still only HALF of what we've been spending annually on the war in Iraq.
First they ignore you
then they ridicule you
then they fight you --- You are here
