Can't get it to compile, no "no" command?
I decided I'd take a shot at compiling GNOME today, since it finally hit a version number that doesn't start with a decimal point, heh. Anyways, everything was going great, except when trying to compile gnome-core, it failed saying that the "no" command wasn't available, I've searched my system, and I definatly don't have the "no" command, but I have no idea what it would be a part of. Please send email to mcox@cass.net if you can help me, sorry to ask for an email instead of a reply, but I'm at work, and am not logged in, so it's rather difficult to check replies to my messages. Thanks, keep up the good work everyone!

Glad to see slack finally got it's own site, something besides an 'offical FTP archive' that is
:)

This could have some purpose
This could actually be useful for people with ISPs that place strong limits on the size of their mailbox. Most of the ISPs in my area only give users 1MB for mail space, at least with this place you can have 3MB. But other than this I don't see much of a point to this, but hey, it's better than some other sites that could have been created based with the iMac in mind.

Updated
Excuse me, I meant "minor", not "small" in the previous posting, but it still conveys the same message. Also notice the department the message came from: "blatent-spoilers-and-rumors dept."

Bold
If you really didn't want any spoilers, I would suggest you be careful reading anything about it then. Especially avoid it when the words small spoiler are in bold. If you managed to miss that while 'skimming' the main page, then I would suggest you look about more carefully for bold words next time.

The Last Dinosaur and the Tarpits of Doom
Nice article, was a good read. I have to be a bit wary of the stats, but even if they are incorrect, it still gives some nice historical background.

-NO- PSX emulator for intel PC's
You don't research things before you say them do you? Check out psemu.com, then make a factually correct post. As for the G3 vs. PII statement, don't go around trying to start flame wars, to each his/her own.

3D Acceleration?
Anyone that supports Open Source and has a TNT probably cares. I'm glad I'm now not stuck with some code that's impossible to fix.

whitehouse.com
"Another site using the name of the residence of the President of the United States provided pornographic material." Why couldn't they just say whitehouse.com? They don't have to link it or anything, but trying to 'hide' the name like that makes it seem like they think their readers are stupid.

Hopefully
I hope this is really something that's true, and not just crap. If it's true, it might actually be something useful, but the government will probably rape it anyways if it is.

Yet another loss
Just another lost for the people, and a win for the big corps. Hopefully people will fight this, and there will be some chance that it will be changed/overturned.

Free Software
If Sun open-sources java, and walks about with Netscape's software, then they would have a big peice of the commercial open-source software "puzzle". Hopefully they don't screw it up, this could be a big chance.

Mice & Touchscreens
My experience with touchscreens is the same, just unplug the mouse, plug in the touchscreen, and away you go, pretty slick. I've only ever used one touchscreen on a PC though, so don't get all over me if not all are like this.
:)

Ports
Hopefully somebody will port this over to Linux/BSD, and do some kind of OpenGL port. GLDoom is very nice. I have to agree with the poster above that integrating Heretic/Hexen into GLDoom to have basically a pak player, would be awesome.

Tux stickers
Every PC in my high-school is going to have one of those, if of course I could pay for them, and get them to install Linux + WP on the machines (not happening withing my or my childrens lifetimes). But I'm definatly going to be picking up some of those stickers for all the PCs I own, and even some that I don't, heh.

Sounds great
Even more support for Linux in the commercial world, it just keeps getting better.
:) It would be nice to be able to have a huge vendor/distributor like Dell for Linux. Hopefully this will increase some ITs awareness on Linux.

Military service + college
Another option everyone seems to have skipped is signing up for some type of military service, getting 1.5-2.0 years of schooling while in the service, and then finishing up college at a respected school when you get out of the service, with everything paid for. I for example am joining the United States Marine Corps, with an MOS (job) in the computer programming/network systems field(s). I will get about 1.5 years of CS schooling while in the service, at a 'respectful' school, and also serve my country. I really don't have to worry about dying (god forbid), since they are spending so much to teach me, I will be one of the last to be sent of if we had some type of major war/conflict. After I have put in my four years of service, I will go to a respected college of my choice to finish up the rest of my CS degree, with it all paid for. Not a bad deal to me IMHO.
