Re:Texas Instruments..
Same, same. Picked up the floor model at a Sears with a $50 rebate coupon for only $20. The Otasco down the street had the official monitor and the expansion box with a floppy drive, 32KB ram pack, and RS-232 for $75, also a floor model.
I remember looking through a Tunnels of Doom save game with a disk editor and realizing I could make a change, reload the game, and see what had been altered in the game. Spent that summer mapping out the save game and making my monsters.

Re:Tunnels of Doom on the TI-99/4A
There are emulators for the TI available, and someone has been working on a reboot of it, that I must say I have not played myself yet, but http://www.dreamcodex.com/todr.php if you're interested. I'd play the original through an emu if you can find it
:)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LlUCZs1KZA has a lot of gameplay shots and general TI history if you're interested.

Re:Hunt the Wumpus
After writing that it occurred to me you mean the graphical version not the original text based game. Here is your port: http://www.dreamcodex.com/playwumpus.php

Tunnels of Doom
On the TI-994a. Excellent game for the time.
A rebooted version was written a while back which is as good.

Tunnels of Doom
Does it mention Tunnels of Doom? This was a game ahead of it's time. There's rebooted version here.

Tunnels of Doom Reboot
A classic from the TI-99 days.

Re:Say what?
You can download a PC version of "Hunt the Wumpus", written by a 99'er who modeled it after the TI version. It's quite fun, actually.
He's also working on a PC/Java version of Tunnels of Doom...

Re:TI-994a
Sorry about the anonymous post, lost my old login here. Anywhere, I'm the proprietor of Dream Codex Retrogames, and thanks for the mention!
I've just released the Hunt The Wumpus remake, in both downloadable form and in-the-browser applet. It's based heavily on the TI version of that title.
Still working hard on the Tunnels of Doom remake, and I'm about halfway done with a MunchMan remake called MunchMates. (It will contain the original maze, the unreleased prototype maze from the game developers, and three new mazes in a kind of "Ms. Munchman" setting.)
Anyway, stop by my site sometime, and thanks for keeping the TI flame alive! It's an honor to be the first TI remaker in the international remakes community, and I'm always impressed by the fervour of 99ers even today. (Also, please check out the article I wrote on the history of TI games for the online magazine Rewind - http://www.rewindmag.co.uk/issue1/features/ti.php)
Cheers,
Howard Kistler
