happened here a while back
I was at work one night and someone in another department comes over and says a PC is on fire. I go over, black smoke shooting out the back.. horrible smell. I unplug it, bag it and put it in a back room to cool off. Next day I open it up, the seagate drive had caught fire. It was one of those seagates wrapped in a rubber cover and that melted. I took the rubber off and saw it was one of the chips.. it actually looked just like the chip in the article link, same location too. This was the coolest dead hard drive though.. the drive had been running for months (not working obviously) but spinning away grinding and grinding, finally noticed it when we had to shut down the server once and when it took forever to boot and reported a bad drive i took it out and opened it and saw that

Re:The one thing that bothers me with opera..
the only way i was able to switch was to make it match, what i had been using for years, IE
i switched to opera back at 5.0
heres a screenshot of what my opera looks like (its a bit outdated since i took that back in 2005 to show some farkers. i think that was 8.0, now i run 8.5 and ill be upgrading to 9 this week)
custom toolbar, IE like skin with some custimizations.. matches my XP fine.. although my ubuntu copy looks out of place (i love how i was able to copy over my config files from windows to my ubuntu install, tweak with a few settings and have the same browser on both pcs) -
Re:Signals Intelligence Gathering> So bomb the houses of everyone in Baghdad named 'Ackbar' at the time of the supposed meeting...you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs after all
Yeah, Ackbar never caught on

Peters would be good if
It worked in Opera (doesnt work in IE either)
Jason Porritt's is probably my favorite, if only the articles didn't go into an infinate loop in opera and start getting beveled over and over again.
Michael's design isnt my favorite but its pretty good, and it works in all my browsers so I guess we found a winner! -
Upgrading?
I run Gallery 1.x on my site. Since the gallery site is currently slashdotted, does anyone know if its easy to upgrade from 1.x to 2.x or should I just stick with 1.x (which seems to suit my needs just fine as it is)
In case it makes a difference: My gallery is on a hosting providers server, not my own. I have SSH access though. -

Another collection reported on /.And don't forget this eBay auction: http://slashdot.org/articles/00/11/27/195220.shtm
l . Of course, the collection was probably sold, and ebay doesn't keep records of old auctions (or does it? Is there a way to search for closed auctions?). MrP- put up a mirror. But people like The Optimizer, drinkypoo, rapett0, bungelo, and JatTDB collect video games. The Optimizer has a huge collection.
See also jakdin's account of old video games lying around in Tokyo shops
