I can't tell you how many times I had give someone a refund for a shareware app I used to sell because my app used a similar file extension as an old Microsoft clipart file.

They would purchase my application without even trying it first and then ask me why it won't open their clipart.

Thats probably the main reason it's now a freeware app.

Actually I was able to get custom ringtones before jailbreaking mine.. it was an annoying process though. I'd copy the m4a file from my library to somewhere else on my drive, rename it to m4r. Open it up in a hex editor and change a character in the track title and artist name. Drag the hex edited m4r file into itunes ringtones playlist I made. Then I'd have to go into the library and find the newly imported m4r file and rename it back to m4a. Finally I had to attempt to play the imported file from itunes, it would state the file is missing and ask if I wanted to locate it (since I renamed it back to m4a), I'd then browse the renamed m4a file and tada I was able to sync my ringtones to the ringtones playlist.

Supposedly this will no longer work with newest itunes or the 1.1.1 update. The reason I had to hex edit is because if I just copied an m4a, renamed to m4r and put it back it would just replace the original m4a file with m4r, changing artist/title would allow it to add as a new item.

I hacked my iphone for 1 reason.. swaptunes.

I've tried some other 3rd party apps and they're boring after the first 2 minutes, but I cannot live without swaptunes.

I have a music library at home however I download a radio show at work that I listen to while walking after work.

Until I jailbreak'd my iphone and installed swaptunes I still had to carry around my 80gb ipod just for 1 mp3 each day because I couldn't sync to my work pc and my home PC. swaptunes solves that.

Either apple needs to allow the iphone to work like my ipod where I can sync at home and manually drag 1 file into it at work or I'll have to stick with 1.0.2 for a while.

Your comment is correct about not upgrading though.. I don't understand why people upgraded when it was known for a while it would probably break stuff.

I know with my iPhone I can easily click the volume up/down button on the side in my pocket and I can stop/start/skip ahead songs using the button/microphone on the headphones. (which can also answer calls, send to vm, place on hold, etc). iPod touch probably has a similar feature.

I was a big gamer back in the 80s/early 90s. I loved my NES/SNES/Genesis and would play for hours a day and had tons of games.

Then I lost interest, from Saturn and on games were boring to me. It seemed all about graphics but not fun. Since I had a 200mhz PC up until 2001 I never played any PC games either.

But for the hell of it I got a Wii a couple weeks ago, I feel like a kid again. These games are fun. Super Paper Mario is a great example. It's a side-scroller yet it has 3D, it's a perfect mesh of all the previous mario games and it's fun.

The controller is great too, in fact I think it should become a standard for TVs and not just Wii. It makes more sense to point-and-click through your cable box program guide or your tivo menu. It would also be nice just to program your TV with a Wii style remote rather than using the usual volume +/- to navigate (and accidently click channel +/- and have to start over!)

    Yay for Wii

Normal people most likely didn't understand it as much, werent sure if they'd want video on disc after being used to VHS for so long. Now everyone has DVDs and bluray/hdvd are similar, just better. I think people will make the jump faster since they're used to video on disc. Also a lot of people have widescreen tvs now and they want HD content.
