Nercore - Futuristic sex robots
Check this one: http://www.futuristicsexrobotz.com/
So good I even paid... who says the new economy doesn't work? -
The site was too much hassle...
I clicked through a dozen or so screens trying to pay, when I got to the "Enter your user id/password" and "Not a registered member? - register here..." screen I gave up. Too much hassle, too much personal info requested, no idea what I was buying (how about a sample track, guys?), no incentive for me to jump through any more hoops.
This band on the other hand, let me have the album and said "If you like this, send some money to our paypal account...".
I listened to the album a few times, liked it, they got $10 out of me. -
Oh, why not?
While we're at it: Fuck the MPAA

Re:My Generation
According to your train of thought, the War On (Some) Drugs should have ended in the 80s when all the former pothead hippies from the late 60s came of age. Yet it's still up there with the War On (Some) Terrorists as the government's most commonly invoked reason for assraping our rights. On the other hand, this may be a different scenario because hippies came and went, whereas technology is only going to get more ubiquitous as time goes on, which should make for a continuous impetus to expose DRM as the sham it is.
In any case, I anticipate massive backlash against DRM once it makes it's presence felt. If not that, then all major media will be DRMed, sales will continue to fall into the shitter, and the MAFIAA will be exposed for the liars they are.

In other news today...
As the RIAA's new internet racketeering gang took over, the song Fuck the MP^h^hRIAA inexplicably cornered 100% of the streaming audio market in a single day. We will keep you up to date on this unprecedented development as more becomes available.

Warning, warning, bullshit overload...
"[RIAA's Brad] Buckles said the recording industry had never, nor would it ever, assume someone's identity to access that person's phone or bank records."
Oh, that's right, you can trust us. Because the MAFIAA has a long history of adhering to the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct in all of it's affairs, and would never engage in douchebaggery or outright lying to get what it wants. It would never bully innocent people or harass schools, because that's immoral. But you can trust us, we'd never lie about our identity to access your personal information. How's that quote about obvious abuses, denial of intent, and intent to do exactly that ASAP go?
Fuck the MPAA, Fuck the RIAA, Fuck the suits behind the BSA, and fuck them all for the DMCA!! The Recording Industry: Sometimes, the Two Minute's Hate is justified. -
Re:Technically it IS illegal.
Sure, some people will use this thing to play HD-DVD's on their linux-based computer systems, but the vast majority of it will use it to infringe on copyrights.
Sure, some people will use freedom of speech to speak out against injustices, but the vast majority (like NAMBLA, the KKK, and Fred Phelps) will use it to spread their sick ideas.
Sure, some people's uses of their firearms will be to defend themselves against attack, but the vast majority of uses will be shootings and drivebys in poor neighborhoods.
Sure, some people will take the 5th to avoid hurting those they love, but the vast majority who refuse to testify are corrupt corporate pigs who will use it to try and avoid paying for their crimes.
My point is, the ability to decrypt information is a tool. Freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, the right to not testify... these are all tools, and they can't be banned because people abuse them. They can't be banned even if most uses of them are wrong or offensive, because tools aren't good or bad, they're just tools.
[Obligatory FUCK THE MAFIAA and link to everyone's favorite Fuck the MPAA song] -
The best thing currently protecting HD content...
Who the hell wants to download a twenty gigabyte file, and how many can you store on your hard drive? This protection will in fact be more effective than the DRM, possibly deterring many users for as long as a few years before connections get faster.
I join Ignignokt and rest of the online world in flipping the bird at the MAFIAA as hard as I can.

Futuristic Sex Robotz
A while back, some people on the somethingawful forums created the futuristic sex robots and released an album under the creative commons. Their songs rap about WOW, crusing in a DeLorean, and the way things were back in the day; their most popular track is "Fuck the MPAA." They also sound a heck of a lot better than some of the artists listed above.

Re:This is untalentedidiotcore, not nerdcore
There is a lot of shitty Nerdcore stuff out there, but within the piles of tracks accumulated on these albums as well as other varied sources you'll find a decent number of gems. Just about anything by the Futuristic Sex Robotz, Monzy's few tracks, and a few of MC Plus+'s come to mind first. There's also Beefy, Black as Bleech, Ytcracker, Frontalittle Squad, and of course MC's Front and Hawking (which at least sorta counts) for decent tracks. Though anyone with a good geeky (and sick) sense of humor and a good stereo system needs to have some fun blasting the entirety of Futuristic Sex Robotz' "Hotel Coral Essex" album (free download here) at least once. I dare you to listen to FSR's Hey Ladies driving through the center of your town with the stereo cranked and windows down.

Re:Meh...
Agreed. Their songs are pretty great. Fuck the MPAA for example. Oh, look, it's a torrent of their album.
-
Meh...
I prefer Futuristic Sex Robotz.

Not a Decent Enough PlugAs one of the winners, I have a number of issues with the ceremony:
- Our web site was not linked to, nor was our hilarious video.
- There was no mention of our upcoming full-length album or our legendary Gangster Nerd Rap single, Welcome To The Internet.
- The guys who produce "The Codex" are ugly and keep e-mailing me photos of their naked mothers.

Futuristic Sex Robotz
I don't think anyone else mentioned them yet, so I thought I'd point out the Futuristic Sex Robotz. Click on the little pi symbol in the upper right to get to the site content.
They take shots at John Romero and Stevie Case in "1000hp Penis Extension," talk about their Halo skills in "Don't Make Us Kick Your Ass," and just generally rap about tech while making fun of LiveJournal in "Welcome to the Internet."
