Spoilers abound but...
That is exactly what this is for

Re:SG-1 Continuity?Well as seen in previous episodes of SG-1 it takes a lot more power to create a wormhole to another galaxy then they have readily available at the SGC. The one time they did it, and I feel like such a dork for knowing this, was in the episode "The Fifth Race" where O'Neill had the Ancient's Library uploaded into his mind. He created a device, that was subsequently destroyed upon use, that allowed the gate to dial up one of the Asgard worlds.
So as they don't have the power readily available in the Pegasus Galaxy to be able to get a wormhole back to Earth they're stuck, for the time being.
If you want to find out more information you can go to GateWorld and start reading their spoilers. The Episodes, "The Fifth Race", "Ascension", "Meridian", "Frozen", "Maternal Instinct" and "Absolute Power" should give you a rough idea, although not necesarily in that order. I'm sure I left out a couple too.

Forget the Goa'uld
Do not invite the goa'uld over for 'tea.'
Once you see the Pilot, I think you'll find that you ought not to invite the Wraith over for tea either... these pics might show you:
After eating (or whatever has happened to the poor bloke).

Re:This is what confused me...
Well you see...you done thought WRONG. Stargate SG-1 w/McGyver started season 8 last friday 07/09. Stargate: Atlantis starts tommorow 07/16. Richard Dean Anderson will guest star in the pilot ep. and various cast memebers should be making appearances throughout the series. Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis both look to be set for great seasons! For more info, check out Gateworld.net

Re:What is this "t.v." you speak of?
I've done this on Stargate SG-1, and more recently my wife has as well.
A well done "alternate world" show (more general then sci-fi, and there are some sci-fi shows that IMHO wouldn't qualify, most notably Star Trek) benefits amazingly from the immersion you can do if you want.... if it doesn't scare you too much.
Television shows on DVD are two or three times better then TV shows on TiVo, which are themselves three or four times better then the TV show broken up by commercials all the time. The ability to watch, uninterrupted by more then a few seconds, three or four episodes in a row is awesome.
One particular Stargate arc that is really enhanced by this is the one that starts with Upgrades and ends with Divide and Conquer (3 episodes total). Much more compelling drama as a ~2 hour single event then three seperate episodes. -

Re:Next week, on a very special Stargate SG-1...
Actually, we should be much more worried about crystal skulls that teleport people to offworld caverns populated by giant white aliens. Oh, and some old geezer named Nick who sees dead people.

Stargate Problem
Stargate is too popular for Nox to get support. Remember, if it's in current SciFi it's uncouth.

RDA
The main reason the more recent episodes of SG-1 have been less good (but still very enjoyable in my opinion) then the previous seasons is mainly because of Richard Dean Anderson (jack) being unwilling to spend as much time on the show, every season he says he wants to quit to spend more time with his daughter and every season they negotiate a nice package for him which means less work. IIRC he works about 3 days a week now which is why there are so many episodes that he barely appears in or in some cases doesn't appear in at all. In the next season of SG1 (season 8) rumour has it that he'll be in a more Hammond like position in charge of the SGC. Atlantis is obviously a way to not only expand the series but to get away from relying on RDA signing on every year.
If anyone cares Gateworld is a fantastic site for information on all things stargate. -

Hey! It's Bra'tac!

I knew it! (Naquadria)
I think it is hight time that we discovered Naquadria and developed a stable chain-reaction whereas we could conduct space travel. The power produced should create rip in sub-space to permit sub-space travel in the X-303.
It already has been, of course. Why else would they name it Project Prometheus and say that it's to research "nuclear" powered craft? -
Re:Somewhat glad...
I will stick with Stargate SG-1. I am currently watching seasons 5 and 6 at the same time.
Somewhat OT, but just so ya know, season 5 is widely regarded by most of SG-1 fandom as the weakest season of the series. Most people consider the two year period from mid-S1 to mid-S3 to be the strongest, although S4 had its moments and S6 is finally pulling itself out of the quagmire (hopefully to improve with the return of Michael Shanks as Daniel in S7). I'd strongly recommend catching repeats of the older eps next time Sci-Fi runs them, or buying the DVD box sets, rather than bothering with S5 reruns (just read the summaries on Gateworld instead, you're not missing much).
To get back on-topic, gotta agree with you on Buffy. By the time the third season began, I didn't even recognize the show anymore.

Milking the series..
Atleast it doesn't suck, like Stargate Infinity the cartoon spinoff.

Mr Anderson
Apparently, it is in part due to Richard Dean Anderson... he is relocating to LA to be back with his family (a bit like Anthony Head (Giles in Buffy) returning to England for over a year. But he might rough it and do a hotel stint for the 7th season (if it does go ahead).
A great Stargate site to go to is Gateworld, not only for nes and tidbits, but is great for episode info... etc.
I sincerely hope that Stargate does get renewed for a seventh season, and that the possible post series feature film (that might deal with finishing off the Goa'uld) as well as Stargate: Atlantis, we are certainly getting a great amount of Science Fiction viewing.
The Enterprise production team seriously ought to look at Farscape and SG1, because they are way superior to what recycled crap they are coming out with... the only good new thing going for Trek is the soon to be released Nemesis.

Re:With Macgyver Onboard...
In one of the early season one Stargate SG-1 episodes, Captain (now Major) Carter used "MacGuyver" as a verb, in the presence of Col. O'Neill...
FWIW, if you need to catch up, see GateWorld. -

Re:Season continuity from Fox to SciFi: Anyone kno
You'll just be skipping season 5. The second part to the episode you mention is called Enemies, and is quite good.
One thing you might want to do is watch the season 5 opener, as you'll understand a lot more about what's going on in season 5 (but still not quite. You'd probaly need to watch 3 or 4 season 5 episodes to know exactly what is going on and the progression of the Earth and others vs. Goa'uld plot). Episodes can be found in some newsgroups if you want to download them.
Check out this link if you want to know spoilers for season 5:

Overall, I'm really looking foward to season 6 on sci-fi.
