Re:Bonsai cats? Yurgh!
Is thsat your problem?
The reason I said that in the first place is because I think that if you're going to be offnded by Bonzai Kitten, you're going to get much more offended by a lot of shit that is offered here on slashdot. If you're going to run around and want a sterile view of the world that you're not going to disagree with, check out pentagon.gov, or mary-kateandashley.com, or something equally tapioca and pathetic. -
Is there...
One of these yet with a PCMCIA slot in it? It would be really cool to be able to connect to the net with one of these and surf. I had a buddy at SBC who had this, but it wasn't running Linux.

Re:Fucking ORBS?
Perhaps you missed Vixie and Co nullrouting ORBS? Alan Cox couldn't use email for several days, activity on the lkml was disrupted, and MANY MANY people flamed Vixie for it. MAPS is not superior to ORBS, both are good products. Vixie took a difference in philosophy, and used it to fuck over his ONLY competition, right when MAPS/RBL was set to start CHARGING for their service. Don't stick your foot in your mouth again, or even believe me. Do a search on
/. for the related articles. In particular, look at This article that Micheal posted last year, from which I quote "It seems that the anti-spammers at MAPS and ORBS have gone from a cold war into a shooting one, with MAPS listing ORBS on their blackhole list."

Re:Do they turn unnecessary services off?
Now Wakko, You know better than that. You've been on lkml long enough to know two things: #1, just ask Alan, he'll tell you, and #2, that would be way to smart to expect RedHat to do it.

[Off Topic] Re:Yet more jokes...
Thank you! I can't actually take credit for that - what makes geekizoid so cool is the same thing that USED to be cool about this place - it's a weblog by the people, for the people.
That, and the SysAdmin/Author crew isn't rude and full of themselves.

You feed the dog, I'll feed the fish.

How do you fit 12 astronauts in a VW?
2 in the front, 3 in the back, 7 in the ash tray.

MS uptime really does suck
You're missing the point: Redhat is NOT linux.
For instance - Debian
Linux 358 136.04 37.60
90-day Moving average 385 92.23 26.37
Or, Slackware
Linux 32 77.84 12.03
56-day Moving average 57 55.02 40.03
Or, Mandrake
Linux 30 169.21 15.21
40-day Moving average 41 160.54 82.00
Or, Suse
Linux 50 112.07 59.23
62-day Moving average 63 111.07 31.67
I could go one, but I think you see the point. Oh hey, one more just for fun...
Windows 2000 405 75.22 11.85
90-day Moving average 476 18.76 15.62

When will the FCC start to...
Look out for "The Little Guy" and force companies like SBC and others to actually share their networks in the last mile? More than once, living in the St. Louis area, I have seen friends and neighbors order DSL service, and not get it for weeks on end. Some of whom were even told (when they complained) that SBC could hook them into SBC's DSL within hours but that they would not be able to connect them to a third party any time soon. What's up with that!!!

I assure you that I am an American.
As has been posted elsewhere, I'm in seattle.

Why does this always have to be so damn hard?
Why can't we just all say "LOOK! We're DOING IT!" and setup our own root servers? Tell ICANN to piss up a rope, and let them catch up with the rest of us? It's astonishing to think that we've been limmited the way we are for so long because some group of morons can't decide if
.porn or .nom can go in the root servers! What's up with that?

Re:So they can suck money out of you.
Microsoft is forced (think politically for a moment) to take one stance - I think they actually are silently happy about it, and were it not for the DOJ nipping at their heels, I think we both know they'd be behind it 100%.
Fawking Trolls! -
So they can suck money out of you.
This makes it much easier for MS and friends to keep you from loading software on more than one system - thus allowing them to suck more money out of your wallet. Think about that before you buy more software (if you do, I'm not saying that you specifically are that brain dammaged) from monopolists.
