Computer Games
An interesting use for *.ogg is as music for computer games. You can't really use *.mp3 because of the $50k royalty charge, so games like Warlords IV come bundled with music in *.ogg format.:)

Re:Huh??????
"Gone Gold" is an expression used to state that the game has been finished and is shipped to the game copy guys and will be on the shelves in a few days/weeks.

Re:Wow...
Check this out: Gamers with Disabilities FAQ. It covers the gambit of disabilities, but mentions Alpha Centuari and Civilization 3 near the bottom as supporting colorblind modes, and has some other interesting links.

Blizzard not the only great company out there
The guys at Paradox Entertainment, the makers of Europa Universalis II and Hearts of Iron, also release patches years after the original game had come out while working without pay. Now, that's what I call true gamer geek spirit.:)

Re:Pong anyone?
Coming soon, Microsoft Pong XP! With incredible 3D ray-traced graphics rendered in real time with anti-aliasing!
It wasn't Microsoft, it was Hasbro, early 2000. The original Pong game, remixed with 3D accelerated graphics. Debuted to a resounding thud.
Think I'm joking? Check out the Gold Guide list of reviews.

Tough decision
I am a Transgaming subscriber, but it's hard to justify paying for one of these games, when I have the Loki version of KIS, Starcraft (still haven't finished it), and Warcraft 3 to keep me busy.
I'm tempted to chip in for one of these games anyway, just to encourage a future port of Kohan II (when it is released next year) as well as due to the outstanding reviews Kohan has received.

Slashdot's transformation
Slashdot is ever so slowly becoming more like the Gone Gold of geekware. Only it's with every friggin' point release.
