EZ way to protect "standalones" vs. it
With a SINGLE 'standalone' non-networked PC (no home network/LAN) just turn off Server & Workstation services. It shuts off any "handles" (port 445) this thing propogates thru + turn off NetBIOS over TCP/IP in your internet connection & uncheck/disable Client for Microsoft Networks + File and Print Sharing. Port 139 & 445 always pop up issues over time.
I covered all this 11++ yrs. ago in a security guide I wrote for users with a single system & apparently, its advice STILL STANDS THE "TEST OF TIME" ala https://www.google.com/#q=HOW+TO+SECURE+Windows+2000/XP/ vs. even today's threats like this one.
* This effectively makes this threat a non-issue + saves you CPU cycles/RAM & other I/O wasted on services you don't NEED as a single PC user only... & you don't. They're just wastes with a single PC really. Many services are (covered in guide above based on CIS Tool guidance (who took fixes to their ware from "yours truly" too, no less)).
APK
P.S.=> Of course, don't be STUPID & click on attachments in bogus malicious emails this thing propogates thru as well (Chrome/Opera/Webkit users - BEWARE of the ShellControlFile issue that just popped up (.scf file) noted here-> http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/05/17/chrome_on_windows_has_credential_theft_bug/ )... apk

Re:Obsession With The New
I could not find out what is wrong with it, no matter what. I would not be able to do it if I had a complete Kia Engineering team with me.
Resetting the check engine light? No problem: ODBII scanners are widely available. Diagnostics tools are available for free, cheap and expansive.
Google just gave me this link as part of a search.
This is an expensive option. Just for fun I once bought a Bluetooth OBDII scanner, installed a free app and could see so much that I have no idea what I was seeing. (That is meaningless as I just know not to mix the fuel and the water.)The fact that _I_ do not know what the output means does not mean that that knowledge is not available.

Re:Exception to butterage
Last I looked, it's on the todo list, but properly suspending tabs requires storing their actual state, and that's not really there yet. Though there were some experiments with just killing the renderer (tab discarding): https://developers.google.com/... (see end for tab serialization).

Try The Great Suspender extension
Try The Great Suspender -- it suspends tabs that are not in use.

Re:the propaganda narrative needs work.
It's weird how people generally give North Korea either too much or too little credit, often at the same time.
First off, North Korea is not at present starving its people. The North Korean economy has been growing at a rather good clip. They're trying to make Pyongyang into a model city with a lot of impressive architecture projects. While they're generally rushed and substandard construction, they're visually quite impressive (the DPRK actually has some good architects and artists - one of their biggest sources of foreign currency is giant statues built for African dictators - I kid you not). There's now nearly 3 million cell phones in the DPRK. They can't connect out of the country, but the country is modernizing (while still trying - and progressively getting worse at - keeping its people isolated). DVD and Blu-Ray players are not that rare, particularly in cities, and the government is increasingly giving up on trying to stop media smuggled in from China. They don't mind US and European movies / TV sneaking in that much anymore, but South Korean media still bugs them a lot (because their propaganda tries to portray the South as impoverished and oppressed by the US, a country that they need to "save").
DPRK military technology, including missile technology, is a piecemeal mix of foreign tech (either imported legitimately, or acquired illegally and smuggled) and legitimate homegrown engineering. Some of their solutions are rather "hacks", but they work. For example, one of their missiles that kept flying out of control... later pictures of it showed a ton of big grid fins on the back, making it like a shuttlecock. Then it worked. Sure, that's added drag and it's going to make it light up radar screens like a Christmas tree, but they want to advance their technology as fast as possible. They're following a natural rocketry progression. Their latest rockets, for example, appear to now use a common bulkhead approach to reduce mass rather than two separate tanks. They're working with better materials. Their Q&A and local manufacturing quality is low. But it'll get the job done. They expect failures. When they shelled Yeonpyeong, only half of the shells even hit the island, a quarter of those that hit it didn't explode, and most of their shots were aimed based on obsolete maps, or just aimed poorly. But they simply put out enough firepower to overcome that. And that's undoubtedly going to be the same strategy that they pursue with missiles - "so what if a lot of them explode on the pad, in the air, go way off course.... we'll just make enough that some of them will get through."
You know, in a way, the DPRK is sort playing a high-stakes game of Kerbal Space Program.

Use a better tab manager: Tabs Outliner
I usually end up 100 tabs open throughout the days/weeks/months. Usually this is my sign that I need to start closing tabs down and save them for later.
One of the solution is to use a better tab manager: Tabs Outliner
Why?
* It lists ALL your tabs (both open and closed) VERTICALLY in its OWN window.
* You can name a tab group
* You can close all tabs in a tab group
* You can "Garbage" or "X" a tab. The former permanently removes from the tab manager, while X closes it the window but leaves the link in the tab manager.Chrome is a memory pig -- but I've found being more pro-active with its memory usage stops it from having to restart the app all the time.

Re:TI has coasted for long enough.
HP quit the scientific calculator business in 2003. Til then, they were the main competitor with TI for the high-end calculator business. TI has had a free ride since then.
I use an HP48 emulator on my smartphone. But I can understand students being upset about classes requiring a TI calculator because the teachers ban smartphones during tests. I remember when the HP28C was first released, some enterprising students figured out a way to use its IR transmitter/receiver to communicate with each other during tests. In response, subsequent models had a crippled IR receiver with very limited range. -
Re:It's about time!
Indeed, although I like the TI and HP emulators on Android for nostalgic reasons, I prefer to do real wotk with this https://play.google.com/store/... (or the paid version https://play.google.com/store/...). Much better interface than those old calculators.

Re:TI has coasted for long enough.
Just download this emulator: https://play.google.com/store/... and get the original TI ROM image from the TI website.

Re:Meh.
Then use one on your phone for free: https://play.google.com/store/...

Re:Meh.
I don't think I've actually ever used a graphing calculator, but I do *require* one that uses RPN, which pretty much means HP...
On Android, I've been pretty satisfied with RealCalc as an RPN calculator (no graphing though). I used to use some HP-48 emulator, but found RealCalc easier to use on my phone. I lost my real HP-48 in a move once... it may still be packed away in a box somewhere. My venerable HP-15C was stolen from my car years ago, I've been tempted to buy a new used one, but $200+ is a lot to spend on a something I use so rarely.

No. We don’t sell your G Suite data to third parties, and we do not share personal information placed in our systems with third parties, except in the few exceptional circumstances described in the G Suite agreement and our Privacy Policy, such as when you ask us to share it or when we are required to do so by law.Sometimes charity really is nothing more than charity - this seems to be the case here.

P.S.=> Good luck - as it's the BEST DEFENSE vs. this threat by stopping it being able to communicate in/out period, outside of the INTEL chipset, & stopped external to it via a router/firewall hardware... apk

Re:The scientists are talking, who is listening?
Here are just a few of many easy to find links that define Tidal and intermittent. Lets see how long Angelo denies reality;
http://hydroearth.blogspot.com...
http://tidalpower.co.uk/advant...
http://energyeducation.ca/ency...
https://www.google.com/search?...
Just one of many.."Intermittent electricity is electrical energy that is not continuously available due to external factors that cannot be controlled, produced by electricity generating sources that vary in their conditions on a fairly short time scale. Sources of intermittent electricity include solar power,[1] wind power,[2] tidal power, and wave power.[3] Although solar and tidal power are fairly predictable (length of days, weather patterns, tidal cycles), they are still intermittent because the time period that electricity can be created is limited. Because of this varying electrical generation these sources are considered non-dispatchable, meaning that their electrical output cannot be used at any given time to meet societies fluctuating electricity demands. Re:Small subset of SQL
It may be a really cool software package, but, I gather, if you allowed for only a "small subset" of SQL to be supported, you could have MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Sybase as "fault tolerant" and with "strong consistency".
CockroachDB is based on the Spanner paper. Within Google Spanner has had a huge impact (apparently? it's discussed in the paper.). The impact is in efficiency, fewer failure modes, and API simplicity over the tools they had before it (internal versions of Cloud Bigtable and Datastore). Both the paper and informal discussions with Googlers attribute most of this impact to the core ideas introduced with it, the ideas which inspired CockroachDB. Therefore, while CockroachDB guys could still fumble it, I've been taking CockroachDB seriously.

Why my program doesn't use SQLite
See subject: An inferior competitor hostsman does (& it's what I've warned of using others' libs/code - bugs). You must wait out a fix (IF it happens).
THE ARTICLE PROVES MY POINT!
Hostsman is stuck in 32-bit ONLY (mine does both 32/64-bit) & doesn't do hardcoded favorites where you spend most time online resolving faster locally in system RAM via hosts @ TOP of hosts (for fastest resolution) & protecting you vs. DNS level tracking + security issues dns has - mine does & is SINGLE "standalone"

Ads/script & malware rob speed/security/privacy
Hosts add speed (via hardcodes/adblocks), security (vs. bad sites/malware/poisoned dns), reliability (vs. dns down), & anonymity (vs. dns requestlogs/trackers).
Less power/cpu/ram + IO use vs. DNS/routers/addons/antivirus + less security bugs/complexity & faster vs. addons/routers/remote dns!
Avoids DNSChangers in routers/IP settings & dns redirects (99.999% of ISP DNS != patched vs. it) + lightens DNS load & resolves faster from local system RAM!
* Via what u NATIVELY have in the IP stack in FASTER kernelmode!
