Re:Keep in mind
Great. Let me introduce myself then.
:P
I've been using computers for almost 20 years now, professionally for the past 12. I love open source, despise the many problems associated with Windows albeit I run win2k daily, and hope that one day my love of php will land me another job.
So now that I've introduced myself, will you help me find me work? :D
This is a semi-humorous posting by the way. For those nutjobs that will reply I'll just say that it is true, "who you know".
Check out my site for what else I love doing: http://haikunews.org/ -
Re:Seems kinda fadish, but I'll biteWe've had a command line version of Google queries in BeOS/Haiku for some time now.
François Revol coded up what he called "Google File System" (this was back in dec/2004) and hooked it into BeOS queries that return NetPositive bookmarks.
As for hitting the tilde key, that is also possible with Spicy Keys, which allows one to map any key combination to cli scripts, binaries, etc.
Just some of the neat things one can do with Haiku/BeOS these days.

SWF Torrents Mirror.I just uploaded these to my webhost who graciously allows torrent traffic. (Hurricane Electric rocks.)
You'll find the torrents and more here:

Please visit Slashcode bug #981137, which concerns automatically hyperlinking URLs in "Plain Old Text" mode, and add a comment to show your support for a speedy resolution. No progress has been made on this trivial feature request for longer than six months.

Bandwidth Usage...
I for one would have LOVED this service just a month ago.
Our site was put under a heavy barrage by one single individual using a Comcast connection, and subsequentally used up well over 100 GB of traffic by himself when he downloaded a video of Java running on BeOS.
Now in hindsight, I should have used a torrent anyways, but I didn't, as I wasn't expecting this kind of traffic in such a short time.
Here's my initial statement about what happened to us: http://haikunews.org/?id=963
We are now back to normal operations, although we have yet to receive any word from Comcast, other than automatic email replies.
In a nutshell, torrents can be a very bandwidth friendly service for files that become popular, and I heartily welcome the service from Hurricane Electric. -
In BeOS, google is...

Haiku 3rd Birthday too...Speaking of Birthdays...
The Haiku project recently turned 3 years old. Several websites have covered the nice letter Michael Phipps wrote to the community.
Happy birthday Linux, naturally... Without all of the hard work in regular Open Source projects, I doubt there would have been half as much motivation for our small projects, in another timeline. (You know, the evil timeline where Billy G is president of the US of A.
:)Cheers!
