Re:tobacco is a sometimes foodI'm gonna start my own kid's show, Darwin Street. It will feature lots of colorful characters doing dangerous, emulatable things. Too late. And they've made a successful business out of it

Re:About Flying
Ok, here is the episode I was thinking of.
Happy Tree Friends -
Re:About Flying
It would be awesome to see Superman accidentally slice Lois in half in an attempt to save her, they must save that shot for the Directors Cut
Ever watch Happy Tree Friends? Apparently, they have more respect for the laws of physics than Superman

Re:not a bunny...a cartoon bunny
Shit, you can eat a real bunny. But what can you do with a cartoon?
Some examples. -
Re:Shows gamers are interested in
No, instead they have this.

Re:Sadistic?
"I am remembering a cute late night cable tv cartoon with furry animals killing each other."
You mean like this: http://www.happytreefriends.com/ -

Re:Please provide links. Please provide links to good Flash websites.
http://www.happytreefriends.com/ :)
In all seriousness though, I believe that there is a place for Flash, but not nearly as many places as a lot of designers seem to think:
- Sites dedicated to flash movies (the aforementioned http://www.happytreefriends.com/)
- Places where it will enhance the functionality of a specific part of the site, and there must always be a good fallback for when people don't have flash - i.e. I use Zoomify on my photo gallery pages but it falls back to a perfectly good static image if someone doesn't have Flash installed.
And yes, I agree entirely that Google is so successful because they don't annoy people (also why I use Google AdSense on my site) - I can only hope that one day the advertisers who insist on using Flash movies (especially the ones that play music at you while you're trying to read an article!) might finally realise this. -

Re:well as for me
I think you have a real point there. VOD (Video On Demand) is closely moving into the spotlight, too, which is probably a signal that people are moving towards more personalized entertainment rather than having a set menu, so to speak, of entertainment confectionary. (score: 5, witty)
:-) DVDs are also becoming more popular, even with things the general public don't hear much about (such as Happy Tree Friends, Strong Bad Emails, and Mega64) -
Happy Tree Friends
The Happy Tree Friends has been doing this for quite some time aswell. Check them out as some of the episodes are hilarious. Currently they have released three DVDs.

As so many others have said...The RIAA just does not 'get it'. The whole reason people buy from iTMS and co is because the price is reasonable! For somewhat less than the price of a normal CD, they can get a full CD's worth of music that has only tracks they want!
The question is, What can we do about it? I've got a list of starting suggestions:
- Do not share RIAA-0wn3d music on P2P networks. First of all, if it's all such bad music (as is endlessly stated to be the reason for falling CD sales), why are you sharing it? Second, even though you may have legitimate reasons for sharing it, doing so plays straight into the hands of the RIAA. If the amount of traffic on P2P networks suddenly plunges for a prolonged period of time and CD sales continue to slip, that's a pretty solid piece of evidence that P2P is not the problem. If people chant that they sell worthless pap and then go get it anyway, that sends a message that we DO want their music, we just don't want to pay. Listen to indie music and radio stations instead.
- Don't listen to ClearChannel because they broadcast the same music found on CD's, and increased viewership will again send the message that we DO want their music, we just don't want to pay; Wrong message
:(. - Tell your friends and family! Saying this here is just preaching to the choir. Ranting and raving to Slashdot about what a bunch of anal raping bastards the RIAA and their congressional cronies are does not help.
On a lighter note, This is what their easter egg makes me think of. -
Oh no!
I hope these cute critters won't be affected...

I Guess
That it would be better if they never find out about this web site!

False advertising
Sadly, if you go to the images page, it is apparent that gladiator is not actually all that bloody. It's not a member of the elite class of games where you can hack your opponent's limbs off, for example. There are no explosions, so bits of grizzle don't spray everywhere like in FPS games. No internally bits are ever on the outside. It's not even funny. Where is the violence? The nastiness? Where is the dark foreboding nature of of the world laid bare like scraped flesh covered in dirt and pebbles?
No, what we get is a series of repetitive blood textures added to the grounds around where a traditional penetration damage model is taking place. Nothing new here.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Happy Tree Friends to watch. -
Re:Bastard Web Designer's workaround
You've obviously never been here or here. Anybody who says that flash is a bad thing for some purposes after seeing fluffy ickle animals horribly maimed and killed deserves a bullet through THEIR head.
;o)
Granted, on most sites it's a pointless waste of time, but for genuinly engaging content sometimes there is no other option. Go on, do something akin to the above in DHTML or SVG, wait, what's that, you can't? Didn't think so. -
Re:Did anyone like Postal, anyway?
I found it to be rather amusing for a while just for the cartoonishly gratuitous violence. Kind of like watching Happy Tree Friends.
-
Re:The future?
Somebody sooner or later will come up with that. "My son's avatar was violently killed online!! I'll sue!!"
I'm picturing a cross of The Sims and Happy Tree Friends. -
Re:Not really...
I admit usually flash shouldn't be used, but Happy Tree Friends is enough justification for it's existance.

Happy Tree FriendsHappy Tree Friends.
Nice (Flash) cartoon site. Very appropriate for kids, especially the very young, impressionable ones.

Can be fun though.
