Re:Lawsuits waiting to happen?
I wonder how this other fan series, Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, is still alive after many years of production?

It directly violates the "Star Trek" trademark so one would think that Paramount had at least ordered them to drop the "Star Trek" -part from the name. -
At least with fan films....
At least with fan films I can still get Star Trek:
New Voyages
Star Trek Hidden Frontier
Starship Exeter
Tales of the Seventh Fleet
Star Trek: Intrepid
USS Hathaway

Good to know, but...
Good to know that Enterprise might have another chance of survival, but on the other side ST:ENT never was that great, it had a bunch of nice episodes, but far to many bad and boring ones, same was already true for Voyager and especially the last TNG movie was just awfull. So unless Enterprise gets significantly better I am really not so sure if bad StarTrek is really better than no StarTrek. Especially the comparism with Star Trek: Hidden Frontier makes ST:ENT and ST:VOY look bad. Hidden Frontier is a fan made series, just a green screen, a bit computer graphics with great 3d models and some make-up, yet they manage to pull off episodes that, while technically limited, are more interesting to watch then most of the average episodes of ST:ENT or Voyager. Which kind of tells about a lot about the official StarTrek stuff that made it to the TV in the last years.

Re:*WORSE* acting???
Starship Exeter is not as bad as Hidden Frontier.
Starship Exeter: Done old-school style, and the actors are not that horrible to watch. I even feel nostolgic just watching it, pining for the good old days.
Hidden Frontier: Done with schnazzy new graphics, but the actors want to make you scream. I mean, apparently, Star Fleet's Weight-Loss Program just isn't as effective in TNG time or something. This show proves that very large people who can barely fit into obviously home-tailored uniforms still hs the ability to make me nauseous.
I'll have to check out the new episodes I haven't yet seen on Starship Exeter (last I checked before today they just had the first one completed and the next was still months away from production).
And for this new one, well, sheessh, it's just something else to kill yet more time with this evening. ;^) -
Hidden Frontier
Another great fan made Star Trek is Hidden Frontier

Re:Sad to be alone
They should really let the fans be the writers.
There actually is a lot of fan produced Star Trek out there.
Hidden Frontier, Starship Exeter, Star Trek: The New Voyages., and some others that I don't have the URLs handy for.

For those who were impressed by this...
I suggest you check out Star Trek: Hidden Frontier.
Its set post-Voyager. They use virtual sets rather than real ones, but they *do* get their episodes out on a monthly basis, so the tradeoff is worth it. The acting wasn't great at the start, but its much improved in more recent episodes.
