Re:Majority of households still don't have one.
You don't need a 40" TV to get HDTV -- and you shouldn't need to spend $1000 to get high definition.
HDTVs here are selling from about $300.
Of course, we have better broadband access too.

Re:What are they trying to prevent? One great way to get a free taste of the music is concerts like this one. Whatever happend to these? I mean, this one will have almost half a million people at it today! What better way to get a cheap taste of quality music?
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a ROLLING STONES concert to attend. Sorry, I'm just so psyched.

Toronto:
I'd gladly have an minor 'outbreak' of a barely lethal, overhyped disease, confined to a few hospital workers and already sick old people in my city, to get a cheap 'relief' concert from the friggin 'Stones and AC/DC! And, the whole thing was organized by a damned federal senator. Not even Ted Kennedy is that cool!

Re:"Most powerful computer in Canada"
As an American living in Canada, I find it very surprising to see the pent up anger that a several Canadians seem to have for Americans. This post seems to bring out that sentiment that I see on a daily basis. Most Americans are ignorant to the anti-American sentiment that exudes from the Canadian media and the general population.
The crack made that fired this guy off isn't exactly what I call Canada bashing. It's our brand of humor we like to call sarcasm.
Why is it that a faction of the population seems to dislike the US so much?
Americans don't create beer commercials that express an annoyance or hatred for Canadians. (Molson) We don't produce shows that attempt to depict the American population as ignorant fools. (Talking to Americans)
Most Americans love Canadian culture. We love Canadian sports. We love Canadian comedians and entertainers. I don't know why there seems to be a hatred that isn't reciprocated.
Having seen both sides of the coin, I'd have to say that America bashing is far more prevalent and mainstream here in Canada. (Per capita of course) -
And their logo?
Next, Molson will be going after people using a red maple leaf on their flags - clearly an infringement upon their brand...
I mean, as a Canadian, aren't you just a bit offended that a word so closely tied to your identity has been usurped by a corporation for its own gains?
One of their slogans seems to be I am Canadian. (Forgive me for being unfamiliar with their marketing - we don't drink much Molson here...)
Can you legally even say that aloud anymore without infringing upon their trademarks?
Not being Canadian, I won't try to tell you how you should feel, but I'm just a bit curious.
(Maybe it's such a good beer that Canadians don't mind - I honestly don't know...)
Cheers,
Jim in Tokyo -
Re:Why is spam treated differently?
And people say that Slashdot is US-centric. I say the whole damn INTERNET is US-centric.
Too many contests are sent to me through e-mail, popup ads, etc. that are US CITIZEN ONLY. I'd love to try to win a free X-Box/PS2/Gamecube/Car/Trip/etc. because even if I can't use it, I can always get rid of it.
Heck, a lot of the special offers are nice, too. Too bad they're US-only.
You'd think the .ca at the end of the e-mail address would tell someone I ain't in the USA - after all, I am Canadian. -
Re:Wayt uh scond.."I'm sorry, sir, but "aboot" is a registered trademark of Canada."
I can hear another US vs Canada debate rolling down the line
... I have lived in Canada all my life and I have NEVER heard anyone say "aboot." They pronounce it a little differently on the east coast but I always thought that 'aboot' was an American thing. (At's least that what the I Am Canadian ads made fun of. -
