Re:You all need to read the FAQ from the Boring Co
Not nearly as bad as a place like St. Louis, which had 6 dead and 15 injured over the same weekend. While that may appear to be smaller numbers, St. Louis has 1/10th the population of Chicago.

Re:Goddam SJWs.
Whether $200k/year is actually is actually a fair pay rate, I don't really know.
Jennings is right next to Ferguson. It's in the poor and mostly black part of St. Louis County.
The superintendents of the rich and/or white kids' schools (Rockwood, Parkway, Lindbergh, Mehlville) get about $250k, and they aren't doing half of what this one is doing. (Source, though it's about a year and a half old now.) They're mostly just coasting along.

The lawyer for the store said that no one from the store called 911 to report the incident: http://www.ksdk.com/story/news...

Re:Read the article, it's nonsense
The linked article is just tabloid journalism.
I wrote a comment about how the media experts were focussing on the wrong problems and how they clearly -surprisingly- knew very little about Wikipedia and its problems - BUT then I read the source article and found it's just an attack piece, cherry picking the least interesting parts of the conference and painting every controversy as being the fault of an iron-fist dictat from the Wikimedia Foundation.
What I learned: wikipediocracy is a nonsense website.
I agree, it seems to me these news organizations are just trying to discredit a competitor. You can't trust the news at all anymore. It's always been questionable but it's gotten worse over the past 10yrs... and incredibly bad over the past 2yrs or so.
Last night I was listing to police scanners from Ferguson, MO. People looted the Walmart, stole assault rifles, then road around shooting up the neighborhood. I saw images from people with cellphones of groups of police 50+ all in riot gear firing teargas and rubber bullets into crowds. People getting loaded into ambulances. 2 major interstates were shut down as the crowds threw bricks onto the freeway.
All this, yet the only media outlets that are following it seem to be local outlets, PBS and Yahoo news. I'm flabbergasted by the lack of coverage. These are some of the most violent race riots in American history and it's all getting swept under the rug so they can focus on Robin Williams?!?!

Re:Illegal and Dangerous?
Well, as far as flying too close to an airport - I think there are a lot of people in that category that aren't trying to hurt someone, but are just plain stupid.
As far as your assertion that the jet will last long enough to turn around and land again - The landing and takeoff phases for an aircraft (most likely cases where it will hit a small RC aircraft) are the most dangerous ones. Typical RC aircraft have components that are harder/stiffer (worse for a jet engine) than a bird - and a bird into a jet engine on takeoff can be disastrous (see the Miracle on the Hudson - yes that was a rare dual-engine birdstrike, but even a single engine out during the most dangerous parts of a flight is a big deal).
I think the problem is that this video was done by a guy who was screwing around and probably not thinking about negative consequences - if he'd coordinated with the fireworks people to ensure that they agreed there were no safety issues he didn't think about, it would be fine. But now, there's likely to be legislation that is going to be directed at this but contain collateral damage.
See the recent rulings on FPV flight - http://www.faa.gov/about/initi... - I believe this was primarily driven by incidents like http://www.ksdk.com/story/news... (due to timing, not THAT specific one most likely, but similar incidents). End result is - because of some people being completely reckless with FPV flights, the FAA has created an effective blanket ban on FPV flights.

Look here first. . .
Before worrying about China, Google "Cancer Cluster" and check out this country.
From Clyde, OH to St.Louis, MO, we have plenty!! -
Re:Not a huge surprise
Not only does it not harm the economy, it helps us all save money because we're paying for less energy, and we're paying less per unit of energy because demand is lower.
Maybe in California, but some parts of the country have seen almost yearly rate increases, so cutting your energy usage by 30% doesn't help much when they raise rates 30%.

Re:As opposed to what?
Except it can happen in large groups.
Which makes it that much easier to catch the people doing it. In order to coehce the people into voting a certain way, they will have to tell them before the election. That puts anyone who wants to do so in the doomed position of having to anounce their intent to commit the crime beforehand. Any way you slice it, a system where the voter's franchise can't be usurped without their knowledge is better than one in which votes can be stolen quietly and anonymously.
I prefer neither A or B
As do I. But I believe that the correct solution is to have a system that permits a voter to prove who they voted for, and confirm that their vote was counted correctly, and to deal with the sort of extortion and one by one electioneering you are worried about as a separate issue. Ther are systems that permit complete voter verification but do not allow the sort of extortion you are concerned with, or at least make it prohibitively risky / difficult for the bad guys.

Mass Production for Export
New York desperately needs them, especially that KFC-Taco Bell from a year ago (http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=113755). Then again, maybe Washington needs them more for the big ones they have there.

Re:Think about that.Is it a crime to write about an explicit murder of a real person, and post it online, if in fact no threat to actually carry it out are given? What about other illegal activity...illegal sexual activity...is it against the law to write about it and publish it? Yeah around here it would be. What bothers me most about the linked case is that the guy is clearly borderline. To date not a soul was harmed, and yet this is chalked up as a victory. I say 'thought crime'. From this FA: Police executed a search warrant at Rust's residence Monday afternoon, where they seized hoarded supplies similar to those he described in his notes. Rust, who was home alone at the time, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, although no drug-related charges had been filed at press time. In addition to sex toys, restraints, knives and whips, police seized several notebooks that allegedly contained further plans. As messed up as this guy obviously was, it is not a crime to stock pile sex toys. It is not a crime to write in a notebook. In fact, it isn't even a CRIME to be a sick individual. Yet this guy WAS arrested, and IS facing charges. Are they doing the right thing? Sure, once you get over the fact that his civil rights are being slaughtered to clear the way for it.

Re:Obvious.
I think you're overlooking one of the "undiscovered" functions of Wal Mart: as a solution to the homelessness problem in the USA.

Re:Wrong? Why is it wrong for our government to be able to know which of us to protect and who to protect us from?
You're absolutely right! And when I'm elected, you'll be the first on the list of people that we need protection from. Why? Because I didn't like what you said.
See, it's that simple. You'd be an enemy of the state under my regime.
You know, I have Arab friends and acquaintances, but everytime I email them or whatever, I'm concerned about whose looking. Maybe I'm paranoid, but when innocent people are arrested for carying nothing but flour, I have to wonder.

How is this NOT anational ID card?
FTFA:.... the Real ID Act creates a set of uniform standards for state-issued ID cards, and mandates the construction of a centralized national identification database that will contain the personal information of every citizen in America.
It's a national ID card in all but name. It's a national Id card that's issued by the States instead of the Federal Government. And considering all of the junk, faulty data, lies, etc... in all of those databases, it's going to fail. Which I like that idea. Unfortunately, some innocent people are going to get iconvenienced and I'm sure jailed. Disagree with me? Just look at what's happening with the DO NOT FLY LIST. This poor fucking girl!

Re:Uh guys, It's was Deer Slaying Day....
Damn straight. Even the St. Louis Police Department got in on Deer Slaying Day when one wondered into the remains of old Busch Stadium.

Ironically enough, today a line item veto ammendment was brought forth by Republican Senator Jim Talent of Missouri:

Re:What about the weather?
Yea but as long as you know your zipcode you can hop right to it: http://www.weather.com/weather/local/63303 And it has changed in the past 5 years, just to bring more ads and popups tho. Nowadays I just check the weather reports on one of my local tv station's websites. http://www.ksdk.com/

213 of the Suits in St Louis, MO
Local TV news says 213 of the suits are against folks here in St Louis, Missouri. Looks like Washington DC file swappers are also a major target of this round.
Read about it here. -
Re:Call tech support, but embarrass them too
There's no shortage of investigative reporters or broadcast stations in St. Louis.
Channel 2 - KTVI - Elliot Davis
Channel 4 - KMOV - Jamie Allman
Channel 5 - KSDK - They have the n00b reporters do the investigative stuff
Channel 11 - KPLR - They have hot anchorwomen. I should watch more often... mmm... Melanie Moon...
The other three other stations in town don't do news. And of course, Charter will probably black these reports out...
