    Search Google for "funniest joke", first item that comes up is the joke in question.

    A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: "OK, now what?"

    I remember reading one of the Dilbert books, Is your computer safe from hackers? where it said that marketing will continue to become more and more manipulative Make money with your website! as it builds upon the shoulders of already tried marketing schemes.

    I just wonder how long before Specials on Ink Jet refill kits! they start putting ads Long Distance for just 1c per minute! in the middle Spy on your neighbors! of all web content?

    This is a modification of what was considered (at one point, at least) the "funniest joke", only it contained Sherlock Holmes and Watson as the protagonists.

    I saw this article on the front page of the NZ Herald today. I wonder how many media outlets ran it. The site must have been hammered much harder than just a simple Slashdot effect.

    Here's some facts ... the front server, the one linked above is running Apache on what I think is OS X.

    The actual joke database is on a different port - 2001 - and is supposed to be two OS X servers. Whatever it is, it died. Not answering.
