Re:There's an app for that!
As irrational as this seems (to me, at least), it looks like more popular Apple mobile devices could lead to an even less accessible and standards-compliant web.
Indeed. Standards-compliance is critical in establishing developer confidence by ensuring availability of services across multiple disparate platforms. To avoid doing that, Apple and M$ resort to tactics such as vendor lock-in or other artificial platform boundaries. Removing choice(or even the awareness of choice) from the market indicates to me both companies lack of faith in their own ability to engineer good hardware/software, but hey, who would want that anyway?

Re:WhyHowever, it isn't a haha moment until the headline reads that someone found 25 Apple exploits and released a huge virus to exploit them.
I'm sure you meant a worm not a virus.
However, if there's ever more than 1 Mac for every 1 million* IP addresses then maybe a worm might surface.
I just hope the worm author does something creative with his captive audience. Perhaps some hilarious messagesm, "right click to continue", "dx9.dll missing, please reinstall" or how about changing all their bookmarks to point at http://www.mac-sucks.com/.
*made up number, real number is likely higher Well, there are only 4 294 967 296 possible IP addresses, including a number of broadcast, multicast and other non-valid ones. Thanks for proving what a smart person you are. -

That URL is bad, the one in my post is not.

Say NO to Apple Astroturfing, run GNU/Linux
I, for one, am tired of Apple Astroturfing. I see it as a scam to pray on gullible and not-too-smart users who are tricked to buy overpriced Apple hardware.
Visit mac-sucks.com, it's a funny litle site (reload a home page 2-3 times, the message changes). "The single mouse button is great for people like me" says Steve Johnson, Unemployed :-)
More importantly, run Linux on industry standard (and, as a result, cheap) hardware, unless, of course, you want to be had. -
Re:Are we reading the same data?
Here. -
Easy choice: Linux on commodity hardware
Overpriced hardware is as bad as overpriced software. The choice is easy and will save you a lot of money:
Industry standard (commodity) hardware + Free hardware = you win!
"The single mouse button is great for people like me" says Steve Johnson, Unemployed. Reload the page for a short comic relief, the message changes. -
So NO to Apple Astroturfing
I think one of the best sites about Apple is mac-sucks.com.
Pretty funny and is in stark contrast to usual Apple's astroturfing. -
Re:Worst, Worst Software from Apple?
What are the issues I don't know about?
http://www.mac-sucks.com/ I don't know about any of the truth to the claims on this site, but it is still entertaining reading.
Their disclaimer: Apple uses Mac OS X Server mainly on their primary website because anything else would look bad for business.
On their local sites they seem to prefer Solaris and Windows 2000 (china ran it until a month ago) because of their superior stability compared to OS X.
PS I do not hate Apple -
Re:Sure
'scuse me, how did the iPod do anything to harm a VIDEO-format? All the iPod did was to inflate the price fo the standard mp3-player. And get alot of people robbed off the iPod becuase their unique design.
Apple legitimize? You're talking about the company that tried to force all their customers into using a single button mouse. You'll be kept waiting for a long time d00d. :)

Re:Confusing Quote
"Mom said I played too much games so we got a Mac instead. Now I get top grades!"
You might have to refresh a couple times before you see that one.
Yes, I realize that Macs have games, but the parent reminded me of that site, and the same could be said for Linux. -
Re:Flamebait
No, I just don't expect to get very much from a Mac.
