Prey is Mac OS X native
This whole thing smacks of a scam to me, mainly as their "video evidence" is a video of the Prey Demo running on OS X. Being as you can download the prey demo for mac http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19386
h ere and it is in fact native code, I don't see anything too startling here. My money says this is a huge hoax to get some students some money. -
Rescue!
My vote is for the classic Mac game Rescue!

Sure they had to change all the name for licensing reasons so it's not an official Mac game, but it's the most entertaining Trek game I've played.
I'll give a close second to Elite Force and the Star Trek game for the NES. -
Mac Apps, Partition software, etc
You might be interested in iPartition. It's not free, but it's more flexible than
/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. There are others, but this is the only one that quickly comes to mind. Don't bother asking Powerquest/Symantic to make a Mac version of Partiton Magic, ports of existing Windows utilities generally suck on other platforms.

As for other Mac Applications, there are several websites you can check out for various Mac apps. I have never found a shortage of Mac (or Linux) applications, once I avoided the pitfall of finding a "port" or "perfect replacement" for my favorite Windows applications. Things are a little different in the Mac and Linux world, so you might need to find similar, but significantly different applications to meet your needs.

Re:Wrong implication
Care to educate a noob on OS X and linux apps?
I don't know much about Linux, but if you want Mac apps, there are a few essential sites to check:
MacUpdate
Inside Mac Games
Mac Game Files
VersionTracker
Emuscene
Pros and cons, hmm, let's see. OSX is more solid and user-friendly than Windows, but has fewer apps. PCs tend to be cheaper, Macs ALWAYS look better (just don't try to discuss that with people who think neon lights make a computer look good, they just don't get it). -
Re:Latest Mac ad
Right, because it's not like you can play any of the Doom games on a Mac. Funny! (but wrong)

Mac Games, a list for those who can't use googleI'm not going to argue, but I do think there are probably at least 30 new commerical Mac games in the past 12 months, and certainly many more freeware/shareware games. There are at least 100 commerical games that run native on Mac OS X (ie, not "Classic" Mac OS 9).
Companies that publish (and sell) Mac games:
- MacSoft
- Aspry (Scroll Down to find list)
- Feral Interactive
- Freeverse
- Ambrosia
- Pangea
- Blizzard
- United States Army
Additional Mac Game Resources:
- MacSoft

Flamebait? No. Flamebait and Troll? Yes.

Re:the whole thing makes me wonder market shares
How about some featured new games for Mac and a [large] partial list of the already available games... not to mention a whole massive list of games from independent companies
-
Re:Unlikely
why bother? real games [sic] dont buy Mac any way since there's merely not enough games on it and the game release of mac edition is much slower than pc edition.
This may have been true years ago, but times have changed.

Does that mean I can be George Bush?
I get tired of playing him in Unreal Tournament

Re:A few observances...
Since I have a Powerbook as my newest computer, and my PC is vastly out of date and unable to play this game, I'm stuck watching the trailer, for the time being.
So do I. But isn't this working? -
Here is the Mac Demo
Ask and ye shall receive: http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=18034
. Enjoy. Quit your bitching about no OS X and just look around a bit. There are other mirrors, this is just the first I found. -
Re:Not a fan, but . . .no one offers Mac games anymore
you don't get out much do you? sure they offer LESS games on the mac, but usually it's the better ones... try www.macgamefiles.com and apple's game updates section
admittedly, I have a mac and several consoles dating back to the 80's, but I'm just that kind of guy.

Demo available
Get the demo here. The specs say that you need a 450MHz CPU minimum. I have a G4/400 with an ATI Radeon 8500, and the demo runs fast enough.

for macusersThere are a few nice sites out there for mac software. VersionTracker is the king, but MacUpdate is good too.
Then there is MacGamefiles if you only want games.

Re:Hey, I just bought a Mac, let me tell ya...
Just a few things on you recent migration- Home/End may not work, but arrows up/down jump to the beginning/end of dialogs. Alt-tab isn't what it is on the Mac, it's Apple-tab. Since you're using a MS keyboard, you probably see Alt where the Apple key would normally be. You can change that in your MS keyboard control panel preferences. Not sure if it affects terminal, though. Check http://www.macgamefiles.com http://www.imgmagazine.com & http://www.macgamer.com for games. Hope that helps!

Re:Will there be a version for MacOS and/or LinuxP
There is a version for Mac OS X, but not for Classic. Check out www.macgamefiles.com

The Mac version is out
The mac version is out, though the main page at Inside Mac Games doesn't show it yet. You can get it over here, or at A Talent For War (direct link).
