While we're hawking stuffMACHINAE SUPREMACY
Lemme just give a shout out for Machinae Supremacy. Their work is simply off the hook, and you can download their tracks free and legit from their website.
They're going to be releasing an album soon, which will go to support their music. That's Machinae Supremacy, at www.machinaesupremacy.com.

Re:It *does* work as advertised
It merely doesn't do anything that is immediately useful to the typical non-techie user.
Give it a few days and I'm sure we'll have something more non-techie like.
:-)And speaking of music, if you're a Machinae Supremacy fan (and who isn't?) you can get the new live-footage of them doing the tune from The Great Gianna Sisters from this torrent.

Yes! Line up to buy the forthcoming Machinae Supremacy album!

Re:Wow.
When you follow that link, make sure you check out "Swedish alternative rock act Machinae Supremacy".
:)
Irate is a real nice concept and fun to use, but I'm getting really sick of the buggy player and the stupid, slow interface. I'm almost thinking to start hacking on it myself, but that'd mean going back to doing Java... I wish he would have chosen something a bit more suitable and effective. Though, if I get the time, maybe I'll do something compatible in one of those (putting my money where my mouth is and all that... ;-) -
Last bought in 2002.
I haven't bought a CD since Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done which I think was late 2002.
My next buy is going to be the forthcoming album of Machinae Supremacy. They're recording new tracks (Advocacy FAQ) for it, if you were wondering.

Re:ohhh.... like $3.00 is a price cut?
the price change isn't much.. but it's something, and once one company does it others will follow(and hopefully bring some price competition into this ill driver industry)
and here you would get roughly 3 liters of gas with 3 dollars, or 2 beers from the grocery store, or ~1dl of cheapest scotch whiskey(11.99e per 0.35l).
actually if i was choosing between a 0.35l cheap whiskey and a record.. i'd take the booze anytime and listen to some old stuff i have or some fresh band like machinae supremacy that gives music in ogg/mp3 and be a much happier person. -
how long till...
...we will read an interview with hotdude@kazaa about
- him sharing music on kazaa
- getting sued, losing $$$ to RIAA
- converting his musical tastes from Micheal Bolton to Machinae Supremacy
- him speaking out at the Assembly Chip Tune compo on the merits of freely downloadble music

Re:Sturgeon's law
As you mentioned, Machinae Supremacy offer over 25 tracks in high bitrate Ogg & MP3 formats from their website (all of which are IMHO, excellent and of their own unique sound). What is more significant, however is that they take active part on the forums and the website, making a tight community of fans. Maybe if more bands used the internet as a means to interact with the listeners, and promote their activities, people would start to discover alternative genres and bands instead of downloading the latest Top-10 hits on P2P services such as Kazaa.

Re:Danish C64 band
There's also Machinae Supremacy from Sweden who makes C64-inspired hard rock. I'll never forget the Bubble Bobble guitar solo

Re:Artists should skip the label part!
Even better, they should make good music, and release it for free, like Machinae Supremacy.

Re:Hybrid
Funny you should mention that, check out these guys' song called Hybrid, it got me really confused for a minute.

More free music, C=64 nostalgia of sorts...
Since the subject of releasing music for free cam up, I couldn't resist mentioning a band and site I just happened to stumble upon that has quite a few really good tunes available for download in MP3 *and* OGG format: http://machinaesupremacy.com/.
Their take on "Giana Sisters" as well as their "Sidology" tunes are great nostalgia as well as great modern versions of the old C=64 classics. There are quite a few other good songs as well. Check them out!

I agreeby cutting people off from downloading songs artists and the RIAA are cutting out new listeners. I personal like to get a few of the songs off a cd before I buy because I hate buy a cd and finding out i only like 1 of the songs on the cd.
www.machinaesupremacy.com allow people to download their music for free. although they have no cd's out atm I know if they did I would gladyl buy it and support them. but thats just me I find by sampleing the music I am more apt to buy it.

Re:that's called a cover
that's right, i was talking about original work by great composers like lizard king, purple motion and others(the real names escape me).
all i ever saw was just a handful of 'remix' modules that were derivatives from commercial pop. most(all) of the good stuff was original pieces of work.
www.scenemusic.net for streaming 'radio' of this said scene music. there's plenty good music of this variety to kick listening commercial stuff, and for heavy metal there's bands like machinae supremacy to fill free needs.

Machinae Supremacy
Since I'm not affiliated with the group I can plug them. c64-inspired rock is my own description. They have ~130MByte of music available for download. I know that most of my friends who were into c64 music also dig these guys.
Get the vorbises, not the mp3s.

Machinae Supremacy
Here's something you can get gratis, don't know if it's electric enough for you though. Machinae Supremacy. Take the Oggs.
For those wondering, it's a mix of electric/rock and C64 SID-nostalgia
:-). Veeely najs.
