Re:Counter-intuitive
I don't understand why this is modded flaimbait. This is completely true. I refer you all to PETA's Milk Sucks webpage

Re:Disabling Script?
The pffft made me think you were being sarcastic. But the rest of your post seems to indicate you were serious. So, I hopped over to your site. If that's actually your site, then you shouldn't be offering web design tips.
* Your code doesn't validate, even against a transitional DTD.
* You have javascript, which is against your own principles. And what clunky javascript, I must add. You sniff for user agent strings? Really!? Sheesh.
* You have javascript errors, very unprofessional.
* You have invented HTML elements like CSSCRIPTDICT. Huh? Did you write your own DTD? No, no you didn't.
Not everyone is a web developer. This is fine. But don't criticize developers who choose to use "new" "scary" technology like javascript. Some sites require javascript. Why one earth would site developers want to use nasty evil dirty javascript? Because it's ubiquitous. It's simple. It's reliable. It's useful. And it enhances the user experience. It's not unprofessional just because you don't like it. Grow up. Learn stuff.
But, in the interest of finding merit where it lies...there are some good points you make. Let's have a *real* web developer (me) highlight them.
1) don't force your users to use a certain font size. Use em to specify your fonts.
2) IF your content doesn't require javascript, then don't make your site require it. If your content does require javascript, then know that you will alienate some folks. That said, if everyone coded to the lowest common denominator (folks who, for whatever reason, use a platform that disallows javascript) there would be no ajax. ajax haters aside, ajax is a good thing when used properly. Don't run away from javascript just because a very small amount of people disallow it. Roads are not designed around people who refuse to use horseless carriages, and websites shouldn't be developed around people who refuse to adapt. The web is a product of quickly evolving technology. Before you complain about people making use of said technologies, get off the intarwebs first.
There, the valid points you made have been lifted from the mire that is the rest of your post. -
Re:Stop pissing about
Get yourselves a system, with a proper debugger
Firstly, "Acid is an unusual source-level symbolic debugger for Plan 9" .. which of course means that it's atypical and not necessarily proper.
Secondly, this link alone pretty much qualifies you as a crackpot.
Now, log off and go take your haldol. -
Re:They don't explain WHY
Milk is a great source of calcium, with helps keep bones strong.
Not so much. Despite milk marketing propaganda, higher milk consuption actually seems to be correlated with higher risk of osteoporosis.
Why? Protien. Consuming animal protein causes the blood to become slightly acidic; to balance the pH, your body pulls calcium from the bones (which function not just to keep you from being a blob, but as mineral storehouses).
There seems to be a move afoot to fortify milk with extra calcium to compensate, but more and more people are coming to realize that cow's milk just should not play a significant role in the human diet.

Re:Get them thinking...
What I'd really like to see is Free Milk.
Somewhat OT, but check out Milk Sucks. I'm not a rabid environmentalist (this is a PETA site); however, I truly believe that milk is for babies, and not cross-species babies either.

Re:Drink milk.
That along with the fact that milk plain sucks

Soy ice cream?
Does BR have soy ice cream? I'm cutting dairy out of my diet (milk is BAD FOR YOU) and having an alternative would be great.

Re:Same differential pricing game as drugs
The entertainment industry thought ahead and purchased themselves the DMCA to prevent this.
The drug industry is also trying to legislate profit, but if that fails, I wonder if they'll ever take the radical step to somehow region-code drugs. It would be easier to deny countries with a predominant race (add lactose) or poor infrastructure (require constant refrigeration and have a 1-week shelf life), but the real profit centers have diverse populations and good infrastructure. -
[OT] tagline?

Re: milk considered harmfulFrom the website your tagline linked:
Have some
... pus with your cookies? If you down a glass of cow's milk, you will. It may be white, but researchers say that every cupful contains somatic cells, i.e., pus.
Like, pardon me while I go and vomit?

Re:go vegan! and raise your heart rate
you mean www.milksucks.com?
i'll agree i know plenty of vegans that eat garbage.... like french fries for meals....... i think the dairy is probably worse than meat to the body. -
Re:Amazing
I should drink more water.. and am making an effort. Right now I drink about a gallon of water, a gallon of 2% milk, and a gallon of 100% juice a day.
There's your problem -- if you got rid of that milk intake you could easily drink Mountain Dew all day long and be skinny as a rail. (it works for me)
Drinking milk is *not* a healthy activity. You might check out the milk sucks website. Sure, it's run by PETA but it speaks the truth and can be an eye-opener. Might want to make sure you finish off that gallon FIRST, though. :) -

and here is My Favorite Got Milk? Ad.

Milk Isn't Healthy
http://www.milksucks.com
Don't support the dairy industry it's trying to kill you.
The vitamins are added, the anti-biotics attack your immune system and to top it all you run the risk of Crohns Disease [and that aint nice - from one who knows].
Skip the cows and grow earth sapping mono-cultures instead -
Re:cool project
No, I live in UK but for ten years I've not eaten meat or dairy products. Consequently I know more about what's in my food than most people.
Seaweed is used to create creamy textures and, as I said, bind other food particulates together. I also eat it in it's raw form and use it as an ingredient in my own cooking.
Tradition is a difficult thign to break. Many people I encounter think that not drinking milk is ridiculous and yet they don't even know what's in it when you ask them. Much of it's so called goodness is added afterwards. It's got vitamin d made from fish oil for instance.

trust me?
And yes it is disgusting. .oO0Oo.
