Re:Other Examples -- Yes, it still operates
Wasn't there another guy who used to do something like this? Called it something like SkillsMarket?
He used to link to it in his
/. sig but then, about half a year ago, he announced that he wanted to "move on with his life" and would sell his code, site and related goodwill.I think part of the deal was that he was going to open the source but I never heard any more about it. Anyone know if that happened?
SkillsMarket is apparently still in business, and Hilton is still trying to sell it.
There is another, similar site, whose URL I cannot remember right now.

SkillMarket disagrees...
According to the data on my SkillMarket site, php (on the languages page) is holding steady. The data tracked is a bit different, however (Job listings vs search engines hits).

Re:Did he get the memo?
Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats will bring back the draft. In fact, that bill was killed weeks ago. The Republicans from the Prez on down have said there will be no draft.
The interview was probably done before the vote. However, you may want to read this: Do you believe the Demopublican rhetoric about the draft?

Re:My experience reporting bugs..
Welcome to the real world. This is why companies have sales people/help desks/managers. The OSS model does away with it, and so now you see why they are needed.
Needed for what? Free Software is not Big Business! -

Re:no mas no mas!
I canceled my cable last week due specifically to my dislike for the Sci-Fi network. I'll put that $120/mo into something more worth while and any shows that I deem worthy enough to waste my time watching, I'll just grab from bit torrent.
I cancelled my cable back at Christmas, 8 months ago. Read my reason here. I recommend getting a netflix account. It's cheap, commercial-free and they've got tons of discs to choose from. -
Firefly appeals to the libertarian in all of us...

Re:New Series
Firefly was one of the few shows I've watched that I really like and made it a point to watch.
Agreed. If Firefly returned as a series, I just might turn my tv back on. -
But should be still be using Google?
Is Google becoming a task master for Big Brother?

Re:I know these folks are working hard...
Neither of them are particularly inspiring though, I thought the community was hoping to steal the hearts and minds of the consumer in 2004.
I think you're right. We are trying too hard to copy what has already come before. No matter how good we do it, we are still copying.
So, with my years of experience at interface and graphic design, I've spent the last couple hours trying to come up with a file selector that tries to be, as you said, inspiring.
What do you think?

So, it's quite straightforward really - if they can prove Reuters knew they weren't supposed to be looking at that material, then if the access was from the UK, a crime was committed.
