Re:Sooooo
The problem I have with your argument is that all of your sources are from monsanto.
A 2 second web search provided tens of articles, here is six:
monsanto-sues-farmers-seed-patents
monsanto-sued-farmers-16-years-gmos-never-lost
monsanto-patents-sue-farmers
the-enemy-of-family-farmers
monsanto-wins-lawsuit
seeding-fear-the-story-of-a-farmer-who-took-on-monsanto
All of which tell a different story. -
Re:Lies and propaganda
That's funny especially since it's mostly Republicans that believe that conspiracy crap. Look on any of those Conspiracy sites... Conservative as heck. Stop twisting things.
Any of 'those' conspiracy sites? Do you have any idea how prejudice that statement sounds? tell me more about how 'those' people who visit 'those' sites think. You sound like such an expert on the psychology of large groups of people you arbitrarily group together and slap some label on.
GMO foods. Definitely not conservative.
Vaccination. Definitely not conservative.
Big Pharma. Definitely not conservative.
You may not be aware of all the nutjobs on the left, but there is plenty of nuttiness to spread across the entire political spectrum. Believing in hoaxes and BS is a human attribute that gets exhibited by conservatives and liberals alike.

Because that's their job?
What's funny is that this is *Slashdot* -- where I actually come here for the comments, usually because Slashdot is inhabited by geeks, techs, programmers, scientists; i.e; People that should know a thing or two. Usually the discourse here is insightful and thought-provoking...
And then comes a global warming post, and all the science deniers come out of the woodwork. You see posts as dumb as "It's snowing right now out my window -- global warming is a myth!"
This is directed to all the deniers -- what are you people *doing* here on Slashdot?
The simplest hypothesis is, they are being paid to be here.
Do you actually work in the technology field and yet deny actual science?
Yes, they're in the field-- if you define "professional internet troll" as in the technology field.

Re:GMO itself isn't the problem. Its how its used
"The issue has never been about GMO itself, its been about how GMO is used."
Then why does the flat-earth lobby rip up GMO crops that have nothing to do with Monsanto?

Re: GM producers are shooting themselves in the f
[Citation] [lmgtfy.com]
Was that meant to be helpful, or misleading or a very subtle but clever statement about the GM debate?
The top two hits are in order:
FDA's new regulations won't allow non-GMO, GMO-free label
Huge Victory: USDA Introduces Official Non-GMO Label ...The top hit is a 2001 article about something that never happened. The second hit is of course correct - there is even a seal.
It's truely amazing the non-GMO nutters have managed to keep that first hit at the top for 14 years. They must want it to be true so much they are linking to it, clicking on it, citing it like crazy.
As I said, it sums up the debate nicely. If that is what you were intending - well done.

Re:More proof
I want to know if my food contains dihydrogen monoxide! It kills tens of thousands a year through overdose!
;)More seriously, this is why the FDA, quite properly in my mind, doesn't want to require labeling of GMO foods that have passed all the safety checking.
Heck, the anti-GMO crowd is fighting against potatoes that have been modified to produce less of a potential carcinogen.

Re:Reduced revenues != lost profitYou could have searched it yourself, but here you go.
A Florida woman has gone head to head with a local judge who has declared her efforts to live off the grid illegal and in violation of local and international code ordinances.
Robin Speronis, a 54-year-old former real estate agent currently living in Cape Coral in a small duplex, has her own solar panels and collects rain water for her needs, She has even installed a simple outdoor shower in order to be independent from the municipal energy and water supply. The local power company and water supply surely have a hand in the Special Magistrate Harold S. Eskin’s ruling that, although the regulations for her city are redundant and unreasonable, she was in violation of city code as well as the International Property Maintenance Code.
Apparently generating your own power and using rainwater or other natural elements is not your sovereign right. Speronis using her own elbow grease to live more in balance with nature is now part of a heated debate.

Re:Idiot speaks: "So.. what?"
You incorrectly assume that water in the global oceans quickly mixes with all of the other water, I expect that process takes centuries considering the size of the oceans.

Re:Yeah but it makes a good story
Gates Foundation is a funnel for corruption, and a pocket-liner for Gates' own business interests in the guise of a bureaucracy-dodging philanthropic enterprise.
Gates is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Monsanto/Glaxo Industrial Complex, making the world safe for the IMF and its participating billionaires.

Re:Actually it does work that way...
You can't reasonably an industry that has a steady stream of these stories:
http://naturalsociety.com/kv-pharmaceutical-company-raises-makena-drug-price/
Big pharma list of priorities:
1. Profit
2. Ease suffering, eliminate disease and make the world a better place as long as it doesn't effect #1 too significantly. -
Monsanto fixed the bee issue
http://naturalsociety.com/monsanto-bee-collapse-buys-bee-research-firm/
They bought out the research firm which said they were responsible for the bee population Disorder. That should fix it, right?
