Guild Wars 1
Yes - still playing the first one. I prefer the game mechanics - not so much of that skill tree and gear grind stuff you get in many other MMOs (including in a way Guild Wars 2).
I find Guild vs Guild fun even when my team loses (as long as I don't make too many stupid mistakes
:) ). Just don't take it so seriously like some - after all nobody is handing out huge prizes for winning anymore.Nowadays there's even a group starting Fort Aspenwood matches at about 10pm EST. But not enough players for round the clock nonstop matches so it's far from a full blown revival.
But who knows - the game is still decent for an 8 year old game, so more old players might come back and maybe a few new players join too.
Maybe there might be more players if Anet sold a more affordable and sane PvP package with full PvP unlock (e.g. you get to play all the PvP matches/missions, no need to grind faction to unlock skills, weapon modifiers etc).

So getting everything unlocked for PvP will either cost you a fair bit of $$$ or a lot of time.Or you could go instead play games like TF2 where you only need to spend money for silly hats

Re:I don't get it...
Officially, NCSoft tried to sell it but failed - they released a statement on October 2 saying that: "We’ve exhausted all options including the selling of the studio and the rights to the City of Heroes intellectual property, but in the end, efforts to do so were not successful." The #SaveCoH community is profoundly skeptical of this, to put it mildly.
Unofficially, various parties have reported that their attempts to contact NCSoft to discuss the possibility of a sale never got anywhere - their emails, phone calls and letters all went unanswered. Bottom line is, so far there's been no indication that NCSoft want to do anything other than kill off CoH completely. If they let it be known that they'd be willing to sell it for just a few million, there'd be several interested buyers, or at the very least a heavily promoted (and I suspect heavily supported) Kickstarter campaign running right now.

Re:Makes me wonder...
Except if you do business with NCSoft. I have an extensive email chain from them documenting that they don't want to take my money unless it goes through paypal. I tried going through paypal and they wouldn't accept it unless it was a "verified" account. If you ever encounter that restriction, run away. A "verified" account is attached to a bank account.

City of Heroes - Going Rogue?
City of Heroes announced the same thing, nearly two months ago, with their Going Rogue expansion.
Neat that WoW seems to be following in their footsteps. I like freedom in the games I play, and being able to switch sides rather than starting a new character from scratch appeals to me. -
NCsoft?
I Wonder, why is NCsoft a "heavy backer" for the PS3? So far they've mostly released MMORPGs for the PC...

Write NC Soft...
I think we should all contact NC Soft and tell them how we feel about paying for ads in our games!
NC Soft's recent press release regarding Auto Assault mentions subscription pricing to be determined.
Here's how to contact NC Soft in North America:

Blizzard 2, NCSoft:[too large to count]
Many others have gone off of Blizzard to better pastures. Here, you can do something about the farmers instead of having a GM take care of it. As for private servers, they arent "
just for the pirate", they're for those who want a bit better experience without the farming/exploits (Maybe you might want to take a clue on that one, Blizzard - or are those greenbacks inhibiting that?).
So far, NCSoft NA has been relatively sane with the well regulated private servers out there - versus the rabid Blizzard. All the bad things in L2 are usually with the commerce elements in the game. Your choice, funding invulnerable farmers and future lawsuits, or a decent pvp/grind? -
NCsoft new game targeting women
They have been pretty good about picking hit games, the popularity of chat avatars among women and girls in korea makes this game a good bet http://www.ncsoft.com/eng/ncgames/al_intro.asp my anecdotal experience is that korean women are online as much as korean men. this may just be the vehicle to turn them on to gaming.
