PopeRatzo is a liar
PopeRatzo posted a fact that can be looked up! I bet its not true, he usually refuses to post objective facts because he has to lie to make his points. Lets have some fun!
Dallas violent crime rate = 7.67 per 1000
Chicago violent crime rate = 11.15 per 1000
Dallas has less than 70% the violent crime rate of Chicago per capita. Which to PopeRatzo is THE SAME!Yes folks. There you have it, PopeRatzo the idiot lies again. When you see his posts, just assume it is a lie because it likely is. The rare times it is a fact you can look up, go ahead and you can see yourself. I had no idea if they were the same, but just assumed PopeRatzo lied like normal and was not disappointed.

Re:San Francisco
Exactly. Everyone who's not into living with those people basically moved to the South Bay. It's a good place to raise kids, with lots of parks, many high quality public schools, low crime rates, and plenty of tech companies, like Apple, Google and Facebook that are headquartered there.
The fact that SF is bad for raising kids have nothing to do with the tech boom. It's always been a city where the dredges of society are tolerated, if not welcomed. If anything, gentrification by tech workers is making it better. Even so, there's no getting around the fact that SF embraces its culture, including pot smokers, meth heads, homeless, muggers, occasional riots and naked gay men running around on the streets. Obviously, parents are going to have second thoughts about raising kids there. -
Re:Accidentally?
Ooh... I didn't remember that imbecile's name, but I am well aware of the rampant stupidity of the powers-that-be in Maricopa County.
I did a quick Google search, and came across something interesting. While Maricopa's overall crime rate is lower than average (for comparably-sized municipalities), its violent crime rate is actually higher than average. So it sounds like this Sheriff isn't very effective when it comes to the criminals you'd actually want him to be catching. But if you want your sheriff to be keeping the kids in line, he's your man!
"From our analysis, we discovered that violent crime in Maricopa occurs at a rate higher than in most communities of all population sizes in America. The chance that a person will become a victim of a violent crime in Maricopa; such as armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape or murder; is 1 in 443. This equates to a rate of 2 per one thousand inhabitants.
Moreover, the rate of property crime in Maricopa; burglary, larceny ($50 or more), grand theft auto, and arson; is 16 per 1,000 residents. This is about average for all cities and towns in America of all population sizes."
But it's Arizona, so the voters are mostly old and probably don't actually look up stuff. I'm guessing he trots out press releases (with his photo as the watermark!) on a regular basis, and it makes the retirees feel safe.

Re:Does anybody really doubt it
Chicago isn't even close to D.C. Chicago doesn't make the top 100 list of most violent cities. D.C. is number 35.
Media accounts of violence in Chicago are reported with a kind of frenzy that is out of phase with the reality. I don't know if it is because the mayor is so despised, or because Barak Obama might be embarrassed by it. Not really sure why Chicago gets so much hate in the national media over violence, murder and shootings when the truth is there are many more violent cities across the US.

Re:NRA Takedown
Compare Detroit's scenario to Chicago's: Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the U.S. and the highest gun homicide rate!
Chicago has a much lower homicide and gun homicide rate than Detroit. In fact, Chicago doesn't even rank in the top 10 US cities by gun homicide rate OR by homicide rate. By homicide alone, Chicago doesn't even rank in the top THIRTY US cities. (note: a relatively uniform 68% of all homicides are committed with guns).
http://www.neighborhoodscout.c...
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/20...
https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/c...
In Detroit the Police Chief with massive government cutbacks advised local citizens to arm themselves!
And Detroit still ranks 25 spots AHEAD of Chicago in the number of homicides. Detroit still leads the country as the big city with the most homicides (and the most gun homicides).
The notion that more guns = less crime has been proven to be a myth, over and over and over. This is why the NRA really doesn't want the CDC to be able to collect data and do research on gun violence. In fact, they've successfully pushed legislation through a Republican congress that forbids them from doing so.

Re:Women are the majority of gun owners
Well that's simply not true. On the list of most dangerous cities, the top 5 are: #5 Wilmington, DE, #4 Alexandria, LA, #3 Detroit, MI, #2 Camden, NJ, and #1 East St. Louis, IL. Of those, IL has relatively strict gun control laws, although they have loosened up a little bit in the last few years. New Jersey has very strict gun laws. Both Michigan and Detroit require someone to jump through a lot of hoops to legally get a gun. Louisiana is pretty lax, so you're correct there. Delaware is fairly middle of the pack in terms of gun control.
So much for your BS. -

Re:more guns needed
Today, the US homicide rate is around 5. The dangerous US cities, like Chicago and Washington DC are around 15. Even Detroit is only 45.
I don't know why those cities are considered dangerous when there are cities with worse rates. Chicago isn't even in the top 100 in homicide rate. Last I checked the bad spots were almost all "smaller" cities, not LA, Chicago, NY or DC

Re:Unfortunate choice of title...
Jeez, Chicago isn't even in the top 30! The places with the worst murder rates tend to be medium sized cities, not big ones.
Camden NJ, York PA, Cincinnati OH, St. Louis, Flint MI, Saginaw MI, New Orleans, Chester PA, Oakland CA.
If you checked the 100 most dangerous cities in America, Chicago wouldn't be on the list.

Re:Capital of bad drivers
According to http://www.neighborhoodscout.c... San Diego is safer than 24% of cities in USA. So it's in the bottom quarter.
It's about average for California. -
Re:Nice, but...
Crime is very low in Flagstaff, in fact among the lowest in the state: http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/az/crime/
Flagstaff was the first Dark Sky City in the world, and achieved that by making nearly all outdoor lighting Low-Pressure Sodium (LPS) emission lamps. LPS is much lower power than High Pressure Sodium or Mercury (the typical alternatives), thus saving the city massive amounts of money on energy bills. In addition, LPS is monochromatic, making it easily blocked by even mildly sophisticated amateur astronomers. And the minimal skyglow has allowed the local research telescopes to survive, thus pumping tens of millions of dollars into the local economy.
Speaking as a professional (and occasional amateur) astronomer, Flagstaff is much, much better off because its Dark Skies.

Re:So much for...
The people in TN were VERY polite and more than willing to stop and help a stranger, something you are less likely to encounter on the west coast.
Not sure which part of TN you are talking about, but Memphis is a ghetto and hospitality is on the decline in a big way. Between the angry old people and sociopaths, judgemental and hypocritical bible pounders, macho rednecks, gangs and thugs, yuppies and their entitled brat kids, Memphis is just a big cesspool of phony idiots filled with intoxicants and hate. The economy has made things so much worse. Want to be a victim of crime or murder? Memphis is definitely one of the very best places in the U.S. to be! See the startling statistics We are currently safer than 2% of cities in the U.S.
Also, no one ever seemed to be in a hurry down there.
Having recently spent some time in California, we remarked at how incredibly sane the Cali traffic was. We got the idea that everyone knew it was congested and just drove along. In Memphis, people pass you up in the on ramps and emergency lanes, never signal and generally drive like complete idiots. You will be regularly cut off by someone at least once every couple of minutes, even outside of rush hour. Every traffic stop has some jackelope ready to drag race you in his ford mustang or pickup truck. Local radio often runs jokes about how bad Memphis drivers are and local news runs disturbing segments about it. Given that the loss of a job now can be a curse of death, people are literally killing each other to get to work on time and nothing is being done to stop it. That is why the Memphis news is always talking about some idiots plowing through school zones and mowing down kids in neighborhoods and killing them all the time. -
