Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2.1%, and liberals have since been regularly stating that "the overwhelming majority of Americans" voted against Trump. So I guess if it was one tenth of a percent more you would consider it overwhelming? It is almost like both sides aren't actually full of crap.....

Please wait an undetermined period of time for unspecified things to be done to our computer! If you are still staring at this screen in an hour, don't concern yourself with whether or not this process has failed, because you are only a user and should not concern yourself with what we may be installing and/or harvesting from you.

  4. Own both steam link and steam controllers on Valve Quietly Discontinues Steam Link Hardware Production (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 2

I bought the Steam link for two reasons. First, I have multiple people in my home who stream games. Given that requirement and how inexpensive the Steam link was, I would have otherwise needed to spend money on a Nvidia shield, or on HDMI/USB extenders, or on a crappy PC to do Steam in-home streaming to, etc. Second, it has first class support for the Steam controller which we prefer for playing games which don't have proper controller support. We are planning to use ours until they break, and when they do will probably go with one of the other alternatives I just mentioned, depending on what looks to be the best option when that time comes. The steam link is easily replaceable. I will on the other hand, be really sad when I can't find a replacement for my Steam controller. And as an off-topic thought this also reminds me of, I still haven't forgiven Logitech for discontinuing the G400/MX518.

  7. Even if all Steam games were available for free, I would still pay, because I want to continue to support what they are doing for gaming on Linux. I do take advantage of a lot of the sales they run though.

What if terrorists are jumping in front of self-driving cars in the road. Should your car always crash anyway just in case?

The real question is why we should settle for some crap self-driving car design that uses RNG to decide whether or not to ram pedestrians or crash and burn? I should hope we can do better than that.

  12. The 9th circuit isn't even close to the most overturned.

While it is true the 9th circuit isn't actually the MOST overturned, they are (at least going by politifact research) in the top 3, trailing the most overturned by a difference of only a few percentage points and leading a number of other courts by a significant margin. They also seem to have a consistently high reversal rate over time. This may not be a huge number, but it is high above average.

More to the point though, we all know the real reason the 9th is commonly under fire by republicans is not because of math, but rather their notable history of leftist judicial activism and controversial decisions.

Which Linux-based distro do you use? What changes, if any, would you like to see in it in the next three years?

I'm a Debian user from a million years ago who regrettably turned to the dark side of Windows as my career pulled me deeper and deeper into the abyss. Last year I cracked and switched back to Linux. I discovered and quickly fell in love with Arch, and I really identified with the Arch principles. I came to realize I may be at odds though on their versatility principle, which as I understood represented choice. This seems to apply to a number of things, but not their init system which I have had some notable frustration with. I'm sure systemd has its merits, but the next system I'm building is going to be Artix+Runit based. Not just because it is systemd free, but I'm encouraged that this seems to be a group which believes more strongly in versatility, and that is a big part of why I came crawling back to Linux. Rather than ask what my distro can do for me next, I can only hope that I can get my skills up again to be able to ask what I can do for my distro.

GPU passthrough in a type 1 hypervisor can approach native performance within a couple of percentage points, which in most cases is an unnoticeable difference: https://www.youtube.com/result... I see no reason ReactOS couldn't eventually be used as the guest OS to achieve similar graphical performance, but again I am not a fan of this. I would rather play native Linux games.

The last time I checked ReactOS still couldn't run Steam, not sure if it can now. It is possible though to achieve near native performance by running Windows 10 in a VM and using IOMMU and a dedicated video adapter (GPU passthru). I doubt if you would have any luck with a type 2 hypervisor like VirtualBox, but I had a good experience with getting this to run with KVM/QEMU a while back on an Arch box. I will stop short of recommending as it isn't an elegant or ideal solution, but I can testify that it is technically viable and can cook.

  21. I obviously never made any such generalization that all leftists believe anything. In fact it is pretty clear above everything that liberals aren't unified in much at this point except their unmitigated hatred for president Trump. I was pointing out the blatant falsehood that "no one disagrees with America fighting its enemies and enforcing its borders". However you want to try and spin it, everyone dang well knows that is absolutely false. It is possible to make an argument that there is a different majority viewpoint in the current crop of liberals, but I suppose it was easier for you to just be flat out dishonest.

  22. Rather than forgetting about the last 50+ years, trying to pretend that radical leftists never existed and suggesting that all leftists share a common thread in being humane and honest, why don't you maybe get serious. How have democrats and socialists fixed immigration? Obama just had 8 years up at bat. Here's a tip. Socialism especially doesn't work with open borders. You can't tell everyone they are going to get "free" stuff and then let people flood in the door. If it was truly only about wanting humane immigration, why try to fight the wall being built? Is it going to be a big inhumane wall that eats people? No. That has nothing to do with being humane, but rather that Democrats are the opposition party and this is a wedge issue.

Fortunately, I don't need to put forth unique ideas on these subjects because Trump already knows what I want, at least in this regard. Strengthen woeful border security, and peace through strength. I agree immigration can not just be made to be more humane, but also more efficient. I believe this is even more possible under the current administration than the previous one.
