Re:Before Pimp War was a web game
Ahh how I miss the glory days of BBS Door games. I couldn't wait to get home from school, dial up my favorite board, and play a round of Tradewars or Legend of the Red Dragon. I still to this day play LORD. About the only place to play it these days that has an active community is at lord.nuklear.org.

Obligatory link
Since the topic is emulating old DOS games, here is the obligatory link:
http://lord.nuklear.org
It's a large multiplayer Legend Of the Red Dragon game running under the linux DOS emulator -
Re:Legand Of the Red Dragon
Nuklear Lord - telnet LORD (but no telnet client is even required - you can play it via a java client on the page if you want to). Stats page updated in realtime with game news and player rankings...

I was considering doing this with LORD
Remember the old BBS game Legend Of the Red Dragon? It's now owned by a company that keeps the source closed, and doesn't do very much development to it.
Since I run a very large LORD game on the net, I considered starting a fund raiser to buy LORD and commit it to open source. Not wanting to anger the current owners of LORD, since there are probably legal ways for them to shut down my game, I decided not to.
If there's anybody out there interested in donating money to purchase LORD and commit it to open source, please email me or post to my site's forum. If I get a big enough response (quite a longshot...), I might follow through with my original plans to do this.

Legend Of the Red Dragon (LORD)
Since we're on the subject of old 286-era video games, I thought I'd mention that I run a LORD system under Linux via DOSemu.
The player list is currently maxed out, but if you log in just after midnight EST, you might get a spot just after old players are deleted. -
Want nostalgia? http://lord.nuklear.org
Go check out Nuklear Lord, a kick ass game of Legend of the Red Dragon running under Linux on DOSemu with a cool Perl BBS gateway. You can also telnet to port 31337 on that server to play.

Legend Of the Red Dragon
If you're into MUDs, MOOs, or just wanna relive BBS days, I run a web based game of LORD.
It's powered by linux, dosemu, and perl. Gotta love open source software :) -
Relive the good old days.. Play LORD

On a similar note... LORD :)
While we're discussing brought-back DOS games, take a gander at lord.nuklear.org. It's a web based version of Legend Of the Red Dragon.
Runs on Linux with DosEmu too :) -
Legend of the Red DragonOver here in the 412 scene, our good friend Nuke has set up a LORD game (telnet to lord.nuklear.org:31337). If you visit http://lord.nuklear.org, you'll find a really well done LORD portal that displays a public list of stats as well as history, tech notes, and a Java gateway.
Enjoy!
