vs Linux running on it?
I think it's funny that we've got so many "what's the use? it's pointless!" posts, but when someone links a story of Linux running on a microwave people think it's the hottest thing ever.
Why? Because I'd like to use a Mac but I don't want to purchase a whole new software library all at once. This would let me kind of ease into it.
Donating $200,000 to running Linux on an unmodified Xbox? There's a real reason to ask 'why?'. -
OSIX.net
Not exactly what you're asking for, but their are some programming challenges at OSIX.net

Re:Wow...
I agree. If you're bored, there are far more constructive ways to waste time - I've been having fun with the challenges at http://www.osix.net/ recently.

Programming challenges
My preference is the OSIX GEEK challenges, but anything with decent complexity will do fine. Solve the challenge first in a language you know, then reimplement in the new language. Just note that the first few geek challenges don't require much/any programming skill, and the first one could take a while. Take a look at Hackergames for more sites with the same type of challenges.

Re:Seeing as they like history......
And related to the article, perhaps they can also shed light on the "questionable beginnings" of MS Windows.
