Re:Where is the line on other health aspects thoug
It's hard to take seriously a source that says:
- The mechanism of action of vitamin D in infection... suggests pharmaceutical doses of vitamin D (1,000 IU per pound of body weight per day for several days) will effectively treat not only influenza and the common cold, but help treat a host of other seasonal infections, including meningitis, septicemia, and pneumonia, in both children and adults (emphasis added). source referenced in parent post
Personally, if I have septicemia or bacterial meningitis/pneumonia, I will take whatever the sensitivities say I should. If you choose to treat your N. meningitidis with Vit D, please stay at home so that you don't force everyone else to take prophylaxis.

Re:People who rail against vaccines
The use of polio as a vaccine example is an epic failure. There is a clear correlation between insecticide use and polio for instance. http://www.whale.to/vaccine/west5a.html When the polio vaccine for first introduced polio rates dramatically shot up. Most european governments even banned the polio vaccine. http://www.vaccinetruth.org/polio_vaccines.htm As of today the polio vaccine is the number one cause of polio. http://www.preventdisease.com/news/12/011812_Polio-Vaccinations-Are-Now-The-Number-One-Cause-of-Polio-Paralysis.shtml

Re:One sided
There is some logic to that but not much. There is a clear correlation between insecticide use and polio for instance. http://www.whale.to/vaccine/west5a.html When the polio vaccine for first introduced polio rates dramatically shot up. Re:Pretty cool, but...
They could simulate gravity.
I believe this was experimented with to see if it works and I think it was successful, and even gave an equation to limit the nauseating effects of artificial gravity through rotation. In addition to that, a recent paper was released that showed that the anti-oxidants in red grapes (wine and drinks too) can protect against inactivity, and possibly even prevent a lot of damage from 0g, done to muscles and the like, which is a huge problem and requires a lot of maintenance.
Prevent damage to muscles from inactivity (best I can find at the moment)So long story short, lets get our astronauts off their heads, FOR SCIENCE!

Re:Until costs go down...
Uhhh...because we have seen time and time again how just trying to "fix" the mess by passing ever more rules just piles on the clusterfuck? As for CFLs I can give you a little link to a thing called Yahoo Search which brings up 36,000 pages on CFLs and cancer. Feel free to choose whichever site you would consider a credible source, with 36,000 I'm sure you'll find a few.
Basically the gist of it is the plastics that make up the ring holding the CFL when heated release carcinogens which you then breathe. Surprise surprise, those unintended consequences bite you right in the rear again. Oh I'm sure they'll come out with yet more regulations, that will promptly be ignored by the third world countries we have making the things since they closed the light bulb factories here to make the new ones in China (there is those pesky unintended consequences again) and people will justify the increased risk of cancer on "being green". Of course if you get cancer and die your carbon footprint drops off the chart, so you are REALLY being green then!

Re:Now that sounds like a blanket law....
I imagine even water is outlawed under this law, after all you can drown from it.
Heck, you can die from drinking too much water, too. -
Limited by vocabulary?
Harlene Hayne recently published some of her research that theorizes memory is limited by the vocabulary one has at the time of the event. In essence, when you recall something from your past, you use the words you knew at the time to describe the memory. Pretty interesting stuff. Further description of the work is here.
