Protest Warrior?
There is a loose organization composed mostly of right wing college students who are known for "counterprotesting" at antiwar rallies and such. They are usually outnumbered by 10,000 to one or more at larger marches.

As a result, I often attend our local vegetarian festival. It's amazing how many crazies come out to this thing! If you've never been to one, you should go. Unfortunately, it might just reinforce your current world-view, but at least you should find it entertaining.
I think I will check that out. I love loonies-watching! I was in New York during the Republican National Convention (for work that was completely unrelated to the convention). I started and finished my work work early so I could walk around all day checking out all the protests. I even took part in a few (Helping out the Protest Warriors and helping another guy set up and man a display where he spread about two pounds of rice on a black cloth, each grain to represent about 10 Iraqi's killed before the war to contrast the 1000 pairs of boots representing American lives. (He had printed materials that backed up his math))
Well, I'm also against drilling in ANWR, for two reasons - neither one of which is the caribou. First of all, I see very little gain (except for a few oil companies - definitely not for the average American when you look at the small size of the ANWR reserve compared to how much oil we consume annually) and a not insignificant risk.
There are estimated to be between 3.2 and 10.4 billion barrels of oil. Another way to look at is the amount of oil we import from Saudi Arabia. As to the environmental impact, I say ask the people who live there. They have to look at it, none of us will ever see it so it honestly won't effect our life either way. Besides, it's not like there is a shortage of land for national parks in Alaska. I guess it is safe to say that we will never agree on this issue, without finding some middle ground.
It seems to me that giving an addict temporary access to a cheaper, safer supply of his drug of choice really doesn't help him much. The same can be said for ANWR and US's addiction to oil. Yeah, it may knock about $5/barrel off the price, but it's only temporary. However, since there will be quite a large profit coming out of ANWR, and it is a national park (owned by the US gov't), why doesn't the US Gov't:
1) contract out a company to pump out the oil for a set, flat price
2) use the oil to increase and fill the strategic reserves before opening ANWR oil to the market
3) use a portion of the profits to clean up any mess created during drilling
4) use another portion of the profits to protect and expand national parks around the country
5) use the rest of the profits to fund research for "greener" forms of energy
6) ???
7) profit
(OK, 6 and 7 were a joke)
Now, everyone is happy. ANWR is protected better than before. National parks around the country get much needed funding. A boat load of $$$ goes into researching green energy that should cut down on CO2 emissions in the long run. We save $5 a barrel. No one gets rich off the deal so we should be able to get a more trusted estimate of the reserves there. Everyone gets something to be happy about. -

5 .phpThis dim bulb has been attending the monthly meetings for the Chicago chapter of 2600 group for about 7-8 months now. He has had some extreme problems with the caveat "nothing illegal should go on at the meetings". Thus, the poor guys who arrange the meeting have had to have words with him, and several of his pothead posse about drinking and doing drugs on-site. Even after SPECIFICALLY being told not to.
After he failed to find kindred souls, and other assorted mental defectives to go down with him, he started getting obnoxious and demanding access to projects being worked on by private groups within the mainstream 2600 setting.
When he politely got told to fuck off, he proceeded to hack his way in. Not to demonstrate he could. Not to show people the various insecurities inherent in their system. Simply so that he could circumvent what he perceived as access "restrictions" on himself.
When called to the carpet, he merely responds with "well if I'd been asked to clean it up, I would have". Patent BS from first to last. Every last problem he's ever caused, he's out the door before any chance is made to inspect the systems and ask for them to be cleaned. Causing more work for the people who own them, and now have to take them out of service for reinstallation.
About this time, it was discovered by the group at large that this idiot damn-near got mobbed off a stage at Defcon 2004 for preaching what he called "Hacktivism" or "Civil Disobedience". Nothing civil about it. It amounted to "Fuck their shit up. Hack their websites. Break their property." And he had to be escorted away by security for his own safety....you could see the feds popping out the cell phones to make the calls.
In short, this "hacktivist" is nothing more than a petulant, willful child. One for whom NOTHING is a barrier, so long as HE gets what HE wants.
He's not an activist. He's not even really an idealist, though he purports to be. He's just another dumb, selfish ass who will eventually wind up in jail.
I wish him copious butt sex....On the receiving end.

No, really---Israel is surrounded by dictatorships, theocracies and kleptocracies. The way those despots keep their people unified and not revolting is by blaming it all on the Jews.
When the Arab-Israeli war broke out, the Arab nations expelled their Jews. Israel took them in. When Israel expelled their Arabs, they wound up becoming refugees for three generations because Jordan, Syria and Egypt didn't want them. Does that seem right to you?

Whoa, tangent alert.Known facts at this time:
The FBI executed the seizure (in London) at the request of Swiss authorities, who were worried about a post on a European IMC that contained photographs of undercover Swiss police officers "on duty" at a protest in France.
The "investigation" into the RNC delegates list is "ongoing," whatever that means. It's all kind of silly because the lists of delegates were publicly available on a state-by state basis; all the posters of those lists to NYC-IMC did was aggregate publicly available data that was dispersed in "raw" form.
Also, they did it not once, but twice.
With regard to the ProtestWarriors, I found this thread especially rich. Protest as military operation: how orwellian is that? (The picture of a puppy in a microwave is just a bonus).

Well consider the following, Immeadiately following the Protest Warrior Hack somebody posted that list to an IndyMedia server. That list stayed up for Three Unmolested Days. Whereas any other controverial (to the Left) information was deleted in Five Minutes. 3 Days versus 5 Minutes. That doesn't look very good in my eyes as for the partiality of IMC.

Geeks here like to think that by mirroring the american hatred of the rest of the world, they can be part of the intellectually superior and socially sophisticated crowd (and hopefully get laid at the same time).
These days it is 'hip' and 'cool' to be anti-American. They fail to see the long term goals in Iraq. Installing a successful liberal democracy in the heart of the middle east is the only way to bring lasting peace to the region and the world. I call these people liberal conservatives. They are afraid of change, they want things to stay the way they were pre 9/11. They think that by pulling back from the world the terrorists will leave the west alone. They think the only reason the terrorists attack is because of grievances, not because they want to take over the world (only the evil zionist amerinazi bushitler conpirators want to take over the world remember?). Those who doubt the Iraq mission are no different from those who doubted America's efforts to rebuilt post WW2 Europe and Japan. Back then they said it couldn't be done, was a waste of money and that the people would not be able to handle US-style democracy.
For those who doubt that we are suceeding in Iraq I suggest you go and read IraqTheModel (an Iraqi blog run by Iraqi brothers) and other Iraqi blogs linked from that blog.
Your example of the AIDS help that America gives to Africa is just one small example of the terrible hypocrisy that plagues the American hating world. No other country has sacrificed so much and given so much for complete strangers and yet you only see protestors in NYC protesting Bush's 15 billion dollar AIDs policy but you never see them protesting Europe's 0 dollar AIDs policy. You will also see them come from all over the country to protest democracy in action (the republican national convention - see this and this for an example of their "peaceful" ways) but you never see them stay just one day longer to protest the kidnapping and cold blooded murder of over 400 school children, parents and teachers in Russia by Islamic militants.
The world is in deep shit. Europe is being complacent about an impending danger (yet again) and the American hating socialists in America are allying themselves with radical islamics under the guise of "peace groups" such as international ANSWER (see this for an idea of what they're really up to). It really gives new meaning to the term "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". America has been here before, and America has suceeded before but it will take strength and visionary and determined leadership -- and despite the fact that I don't like many of his policies (or his religious tendencies), I believe the only candidate which can offer the security the world needs at this vital point in history is Bush.

You've got the situation completely turned around, but that's understandable considering the confusing media coverage. The "Palestinians" are Arabs from other countries who are taking over Jewish land.
On the other hand, for the Zionists and the Far Right the whole business is definitely about race and religion (trying to set up a racially and religiously Jewish state).
You really need to learn some history of the Holocaust, WWII, and the international diplomacy that was going on after the war. The problem is that most people today were not alive then and don't know history. They have no context in which to place current events.
On November 29, 1947, a majority of the United Nations members agreed to recognize Israel as a nation for the Jews. Establishing Israel as a Jewish nation made sense in light of the recent massacre of over six million Jews in Europe and the fact that the Jews, as a people, had been perpetually persecuted as fugitives in other lands for the last 2000 years.
Arabs do not merit being given another country, especially if it is to be taken from the one safe haven for world Jewry. (See picture.) You see, if Arabs are persecuted in foreign lands, they can seek refuge in one of the 22 Arab countries that exist. Jews, on the other hand, face a bleak situation. Without Israel, Jews have no refuge from Nazis, Communists, militant Muslims, and other anti-Semites in the world.
It is an act of compassion to keep this sanctuary for the Jews. This doesn't mean that other people, even Muslims, shouldn't be allowed to live there. It just means that Israel should retain a Jewish leadership and character. I suppose this would be indeed racist discrimination, but it would be of a benevolent nature as long as Israel remained a tolerant democracy. If Muslims ever became uncomfortable in Israel, there would be many other multi-ethnic democracies and Arab countries to which they could flee. (Note that this is really pie-in-the-sky anyway. There are several Arab Palestinians in the Knesset. By the way, how many Jews are in the Palestinian Authority? -0- )
If you still insist on criticizing this goal, you should take a look at racism in Arab countries. The situation in Israel would be incomparable to the malicious racism, bigotry, and sexism enforced by torture, extortion, brutal murder, etc. that permeates the authoritarian governments and societies of Arab countries.
