Player vs player
This PVP comic is a nice illustration.

How is it that no one has mentioned this yet?

Obligatory XKCD... I mean, errr...
How we all feel, via PvP Online.
-
The Other Potty Mouth
PVP Online makes comedy out of the discomfort some people feel in the presence of a potty mouth.
Personally, my belief in free speech is strong enough that I do not care what words a person uses to express ideas. However, there are ramifications for how a person expresses those ideas; similar to how there are consequences for how society reacts to the clothes a person wears.

Re:Why?
His first few Buffy seasons were legendary, but the quality dropped off soon afterwards.
If you say so -- but keep in mind that Once More With Feeling was in season six. Out of seven.
Same thing for Angel... interesting concept that quickly became stale.
Destroying-the-world was also fairly late in the series. I will agree that it got stale, but I wouldn't say "quickly", and certainly not beyond recovery.
Firefly? Very overhyped.
I'd say it lives up to the hype, but would you actually call it bad?
Same for Dollhouse.
I don't know if this is typical, but I definitely got very mixed "hype" -- plenty of people saying dollhouse just isn't that good.
Contrast to Firefly -- very, very occasionally, I see someone say it's overhyped. There's a total of one person I can remember ever saying they didn't like it.
His artistic raison d'etre... the strong dominating female character... isn't going to work very well with the male-dominated Avengers,
Why not?
Scarlett Witch becomes the central character.
Oh, I see what you did there. Strong dominating female character.
No, what he does is strong female characters. Sometimes they're dominating (Buffy), sometimes it's male-dominated (Angel), sometimes it goes from one to the other (Firefly is male-dominated till the end of Serenity)...
I see no particular reason he couldn't do a decent job, unless you're hoping the Scarlett Witch is a damsel in distress.

There will be NO SEX on the Emissary!
For those of you not following the PvP webcomic, the Emissary was featured in the last week or so, starting here. This was my favorite story line yet.

Re:Star Wars
Which SciFi stories could use the breath of life
Starwars. Episodes 1, 2 and 3 especially.
How about all of Star Wars? Seriously, between the EU and the games they're trying to turn Star Wars into something it wasn't originally intended for... adults. Games are trying to balance the universe for gameplay and you can't do it with the universe as it is (news flash, everyone wants to be a jedi and, new flash, jedi are overpowered and if they weren't they wouldn't be jedi). EU is trying to make Star Wars into some great adult epic fantasy when it was originally a kids movie.
Sorry folks, Star Wars is a fantasy kid flick. I'm not talking about the prequels, I'm talking about all of them. Not saying you can't enjoy them because they're kid flicks, just saying you've been trying to make it into something it's not for the past 30 years. Get over yourselves, the prequels were aimed at the same audience it was 30+ years ago. If we want Star Wars to be what we want it to be, let's reboot the damn thing and give it the adult feel.
A required PvPOnline comic that suits this: Trek-On

Re:That's what you get
Let's be honest here, imagine killing spree scenes would be like the average sex scenes, we'd get to see people running around with their index fingers pointing at their enemies and shouting "pew pew"
Why am I reminded of LOLBat from PVP? http://www.pvponline.com/2008/08/28/epix-battle/
On another note, imagine what movies would be like if the average sex scenes looked like the average movie's killing sprees. The hero would be surrounded by the (female) villian's bodyguards - fifty drop dead beautiful women. He would "take them on" all at once in the most graphic way possible. Finally, just when you thought the hero couldn't go any further, he and the female villian would have their "show down." Meanwhile, they'd toss some violence (in the form of a wedgie or two) in for good measure.

Okay, I suppose....

S-laughter is the best medicine
Since discussion without debate is boring, and I think the vast majority of us agree that 'Dark Knight' was a great movie, I'll throw this out there:
It's good, but it's not even close to this good. Feel free to respond with a fist to the face. -
Penny-Arcade and PvP play D&D 4th Ed.
Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik of Penny-Arcade fame got together with Scott Kurtz of PvP and played D&D 4th Edition. The escapades were recorded and are being posted as Podcasts. You can subscribe to the podcasts at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/rsspodcast.xml or download the First and Second files directly.

Blink tag?
I don't see it.
I mean, I looked at the source of speedofart.com, can't find a blink tag. It's possible I'm not looking hard enough; I've certainly had my fill of tricky Javascript problems today.
Fortunately for all of us, sibling post (or is it "uncle" to mine?) has a link to the original comic. -

Perhaps it is based on the table-top RPG?

Re:Monthly rate
That all seems over-complicated. Why not just give away the music and live on the proceeds of t-shirts and compilation sales? Sites like Penny Arcade, PvP or Red vs Blue suggest that sort of model can work for some forms of art. The question is, can it for musicians (who do also have the concert as another revenue stream) and how many can it support.

Are you trying to imply that I'm an OSTG shill or something? That shirt was designed by Scott Kurtz of PvP fame - I couldn't track down the originating comic in time to make a decent comment first time 'round, so sue me.
