Re:http://www.polyester.net is funnier then theoni
What you don't realize is that segfault.org is approximately aleph-one times funnier than both the above sites, AND slashdotters already love it! So in other words, thanks but no thanks.

Jini is unsuitable for the military
Just look at the Trade Federation's experiences with JINI, to see why it should be avoided. Their failure to secure Naboo is directly attributable to JINI technology.

April Fools?
Umm, at first I thought this was a Segfault piece.
Yikes! -
Pathetic
I find it pathetic that such crap has made it through
/. filtering. Things like this wouldn't even be funny at Segfault. My feeling is that
/. has been becoming less and less reliable those last three months. When I first came here 10 months ago, it seems that articles and reactions were much less childish and much more dependable. What's happening? -
Marketting dept. vs legal dept.
The problem here is, that the marketting dept was uninformed about GPL and stuff.
They wanted the name Linux, the almighty buzzword.
Development dept. who actually made the iToaster, and the Legal dept, who know about GPL,
may have been ignored, because "what do they know about marketting?"
This may have backfired at them,
Being that the slashdot crowd hates them,
and getting criticized from GNU and Linux developers (such in the mosix case).
OTOH it may have benefitted them.
They got some extra headlines and, and now everyone knows that they are good.
...I couldn't resist:
a quick peek at the iToaster

The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck, -
What I thought an iToast was
When I first read the title of this article I thought that it was a joke talking about this.
Well maybe it's just because I really haven't be paying to much attention to Microworkz, I'm just not in the market for something like it. -
Re:I wan to appologize for my ignorance but ...
You can read a long rant about it here. Segfault is supposed to be a humor/parody site, but somehow this crap ended up there. I have no idea why.

What's up with this harassment story?
Does anyone know what's up with yesterday's anti-Red Hat rant on Segfault yesterday? As far as I can tell, someone at RH said or wrote something nasty about a Segfault editor, RH fired him and now she's making angry phone calls to Bob Young over something I can't understand. I found the article incomprehensible but maybe somebody can explain it....

News Sites
This is unrelated to the story, but what other news sites are there like Slashdot? Slashdot can only provide so much, and the computer joke site, segfault is not updated enough. Any ideas guys?

Re:Satirical story
I know this story is suppose to be serious, but doesn't sound a little like a Segfault article?
I have had every palm out there (with a V now) and this seems a bit extreem to me. Ofcourse my amount of use may be no where near or even simular to these users. -
SCO == Laughing Stock
SCO is being segfaulted already, in response to their earlier whining.

Suspended servers are not new...A while ago while reading segfault I came across this article which talks about small machines, and there is a follow up from someone in perth who is running a 486 suspended from the ceiling by fishing line...
I guess that it predates this custom made objet d'art...

Segfault=clairvoyant
Reminds me of a segfault.org story last month, Slashdot Gets Slashdotted...

License Codes?
You mean something like the license codes that Jim Kingdon suggested in a segfault.org feature? Hm, I don't know, while it might simplify understanding what a license allows you to do quickly, it might also be confusing. I think the best solution is to have a few "standard" free licenses -- GPL, LGPL, BSDish etc. Having a lot of incompatible licenses is very evil, and making it easy to create new licenses doesn't make the situation better.

Tribute to Al Gore
Check out all of Al Gore's technical achievements. Prepare to be amazed (or amused!).

Linux origins in doubt!
Didn't you know that Al Gore is responsible for both Linux and the Free Software Foundation? Take a gander at Recap's Column: Serious Times Demand A Truly Funny Man.

April 1st is never a good day for news...
How anyone can hold any reasonable expectation of actually getting reliable news on April 1st is beyond me.
Let's remember, APRIL FOOL'S DAY is for playing practical jokes. Our favorite websites are run by people who will never see even a small fraction of the people who's lives they influence on a daily basis. Every one of these people also has a sense of humor, usually as twisted as our own. It is only natural that they indulge in a joke of their own on this day.
If you can honestly state that you would never play a joke on the public, were you in the position to do so (like those at UserFriendly, SegFault, SlashDot, etc...) Then you are either lying through your teeth, or you're someone who should never be allowed to BE in that kind of position.
Peace,

hmmm
April Fools.. Maybe the whole Segfault thing is in on it too.
-
red alert
Segfault.org got the lawyer letter from M$ today.

I saw this stuff on Segfault.org a long time ago.
I already saw BOTH the MS butt-hinge and a dancing penguin over at Segfault.org a long while back.

Don't Let the Millennium Bug You
The REAL poop on Y2K! Check out some fun on Segfault.org.

Wow.
That's one of the original ideas that I thought up for Segfault.org with Scott and Leonard. "Great minds think alike"? (or somesuch...) Cool. (^:

segfault
I'll just take it as coincidence that this Slashdot article appeared a few days after my Segfault "news" article on the same subject.
