"yet to ship 5600" ??
What do you mean by "Sharp's yet-to-ship 5600"?
Do you mean you've order one, but it hasn't arrived yet? Because it's certainly not difficult to order one of those. (They say it's in stock).
No need to go through a speciality importer such as for the more exotic Zauruses. -

Re:Other machines
Sharp has an awesome series called the UM stateside that were called the "Murasame" in Japan. I bought one of the Japanese models because they weren't supposed to come stateside but they did...
Anyoo here is the list of the models which start at $1299 for a 2.9lb 2/3 of an inch thick laptop. -
Zaurus + TivoWeb + Wireless CF = Remote ControlThe subject pretty much says it all. I have a Zaurus running Opera, with an 802.11b Compact Flash from ZCom. I also have a DirecTivo with a TivoNet card connected to my network running the TivoWeb service. So what good is all that? I can sit on my couch with the Zaurus and browse to my Tivo and change the channel, rewind, fast forward, etc. Pretty cool, eh?
OK, fine, I can do the same with my remote control, but Rube Goldberg would be so proud!

Co-Evolution of Linux and AI
The role of Linux in the history of computer science will turn out to be that Linux kept the Open Source model _open_ on the inevitable pathway to Technological Singularity.
Take for example the latest hot Linux gadget, the Sharp SL-5000D Zaurus PDA for Developers which runs both Linux and Java, and is therefore an appealing platform for the further development of Mind.JAVA Artificial Intelligence in the Linux environment -- everyman's last great hope of avoiding a catastrophic Microsoft take-over of the 'Net.
The world owes a lot to Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Eric S. Raymond, Tim Berners-Lee and the countless other heroes of the Open Source futurity either posting here on SlashDot or toiling messianically away in obscurity.

Sharp's new PDA just released
Its called the SL-5000D Zaurus PDA and is currently for developers only.
And yes, it does run linux (2.4 to be exact) along with PalmTop, QT, and Personal Java. -
Re:NOT-released-to-the-world
