My PC is insured
I have a great insurance company that insures my PC and all my stuff in my home.
It's called Smith and Wesson. -
Re:Using a Firearm According to the Supreme Court
Since you took the time to call out slashdot and ars and even Tiffany Kelly, I thought I'd double-check your work. Thanks for providing the link.
Like you say, the firearm count is a double-your-penalty enhancement.
So I looked up the first count, under 21 USC 841 and it says: "a term of imprisonment which may not be less than 10 years or more than life" http://www.law.cornell.edu/usc...
Therefore, it is true that the firearm charge could give him an additional life penalty. Your complaint was a misrepresentation to spread more hate.
While the crime defined in 21 USC 841(a). is straightforward, the penalties are wide and varied depending on quantity. None of the reports I've read indicate how big that package was or exactly what it was even. Just that he mailed some agents some drugs and got caught with others in the post office. The indictment doesn't specify either. Maybe the author had other details she didn't share? Or it seems more likely she embellished to get clicks. I don't feel the least bit like I'm spreading hate. We're talking about a significant tidbit in an article published by a staff editor at a big news site. It's not just billy bob's blog here.
Also amusing is the list of items he will forfeit: The Glock 26, a Glock 17, a Mossberg
.22, Smith & Wesson M&P 15 ( http://www.smith-wesson.com/we... [smith-wesson.com] ) and a Keltec PF-9.
I'm honestly surprised that he would carry one the Glocks to the post office, instead of the PF-9 which is more appropriate for casual protection.18 USC 930 says you can't carry in a federal facility (e.g. post office). That's not on the indictment, so either he didn't or it's a separate case. I agree, choice to carry the double stack glock vs the single stack pf9 is an odd one...unless you're in an open carry state.

Re:More feminist FUD
I really hate things that are made to "appeal to women".
You haven't shot the Lady Smith. Just remember you only have five rounds.

Go ahead, make my day.
Who says software should be used to wipe a disk out. There's more appropriate hardware to do a more than adequate job. I can't be the only redneck geek out there.

Re:I haven't heard about...
Well, heh, I haven't worked out the technology exactly yet, but I would imagine that if you had more than one person that you wanted to use the gun you would have more than one ring, or said ring was more of a stretchy 'band' that fit around anyones finger. You could probably also have either the gun be 'attuned' to many rings, or have many rings 'attuned' to one gun.
I have a gun in my house. I will always have a gun (most likely more than one) in my house. I don't have any children yet so I don't have to worry about that issue currently. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to restrict guns but I wouldn't mind an alternative so that the anti-gun .
BTW, I don't have a girlfriend, I have a wife. Shes not a great shot but then again she doesn't really have to be - it's not a little gun (.357 S&W). It's similar to this except a little older. -

Re:10 Percent Failure Rate
Well, not to be a pendant or anything, but Smith and Wesson has a new "most powerful handgun in the world", the Model 500. It's pretty nifty:
.50 caliber, 2600 ft/lb muzzle energy. However, its best feature is the lack of this smart gun crap. OK, back to your regular scheduled humor. -
Google Rads say no to pro-gun sites too!
With the introduction of Google Rads in Opera 7.2x, it became evident that Google does/will not display ads when surfing gun-related websites in Opera -- instead, Opera displays its default "Buy Opera Today!" banner. Examples include prominent gun-makers like Remington, Smith & Wesson, and many more. Similarly, Second Amendment news sites also seem to thwart Google Rads, like Firearm News.

Hypocritical judgement
If this judgement is to hold up in court, then Smith & Wesson need to be held accountable for publishing their
owner's manual to the S&W 22A pistol online. Otherwise, this is hypocritical.
Showing people how to do something does not equate to them actually doing it. Yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater does not equate to telling others what would happen if you did such a thing. There's a difference between intent and deed, and it's being trampled on here. -
Re:violating copyright ok now?
technically, no, he didn't rob the bank himself.
Hardly.he just provided the guns, the get-away car, the combination to the vault, and the map of the exits.
This is a pretty lame analogy (as most are), but if you must use the bank robbery analogy, all he did was provide a list of banks that provided red suckers within 50 miles.
Where do you come up with guns, the get-away car, the vault combination and a map of the exits? His search engine was asked `where can I find this file?' and it responded.
Google itself is much more likely to provide a combination, a get-away car, Guns and an exit map. (All the links listed were given by google.)

What about revolvers?
What are they supposed to do about those convenient shorty
.38 Specials? Is everyone going to have to switch to bulky semiautomatics with "tamper-proof" firing mechanisms and huge batteries? -
And accessories...
'at-risk' kids: Inner-city, economically disadvantaged, K-8, in a midwestern rust-belt city
Hmmm... I think some accessories would be wise, no?

Whores!!!
We do not believe that users of Deja.com will view the hyperlinks as being part of your message
Perhaps not, but it has always been understood that wherever a link appears, it was the author's intent to provide the user with more relevent information. There is no assurance that the links will actually point to something useful.
The example showed this quite clearly in that it pointed to shopping links for modems in the midst of a conversations about ethernet hubs (!!).
We know that users love to discuss and debate their favorite products and services on Usenet...
But that's not what Usenet is about!!!! It really irritates the hell out of me for a commercial interest to say something like this. I wonder what kind of links they might put in a message posted to alt.support.warez.recovery.
But what I REALLY want to know is what kind of barriers are put up between their choice of links and their advertisers. Or, to put it another way, what influence do the product manufacturers have over what links get created. Could this ever happen: "Wow, I can hardly wait to get my new Playstation2. That think is going to kick some serious ass!!"
Or how about: "My life's a mess. I just want to shoot myself. Nobody would really care..."
Who's paying for link placement???
