I have my fair deal of scepticism against John Titor and the claims he has traveled from the future to fetch an old IBM machine besides testing the time-machine, but so much that he wrote about in 2000-2001 thereabouts, has in fact come true. These are just the broad ones:

This is yet another drop in this mans pretty hefty prediction bucket. At the time of this link, there were no mentions of black holes being generated in the new smasher, but now it seems that this too will come true (if possible), and very much in the same timeframe as predicted too!

I dont claim any of this is true, in whatever what you regard as truth, but when reading this, it is startling how accurate the person who wrote those messages in 2000-2001, is describing the trends of our society, problems of the US, Mac Cow Disease, CERN beginning to experiment with mini-black holes, and much more.. For the sake of our planet, and our future, it is worth considering living as THOUGH weve already been through this, than not. He describes a more primitive, but also a more enlightened society if you read the archives from the first link.

Wow, a post from the future! What's it like in 2036?

I was going to ask the same question.

I normally treat conspiracy theory stuff with a bit of disdain, but having read about John Titor and his predictions back in 2003 when the US invaded Iraq, I began to wonder. Like most, I was shocked when the World Trade Center attacks happened. Yet less than two years later, any sympathy I had for the US had vanished when I began to see what the US government was heading towards - a totalitarian police state. Readers of Orwell would not fail to notice the similarities.

It's funny. Time travel is usually held to be the most unlikely science fiction event to occur in reality (well, alongside matter transporters a la Star Trek I suppose). Yet there are some quite disturbing revelations that Titor predicted that really do seem to be happening. I've read them through thoroughly enough that I decided that 2007 was my litmus test on whether it was likely real enough or not to begin making at least some preparations as suggested by him.

So I will be very keenly watching what happens once the LHC starts up. If they make that black hole and contain it, as Titor predicted, then I will be willing to believe that the rest of his predictions are at least probably going to come true, if not exactly as specified by him (see more info on him as to why time variance comes into play).

Heh, from what it looks like, he said in 2001 CERN will say making black holes is possible. The first black holes will be made in 2007, but he doesn't say when the method for making black holes was discovered.

Well well, just in case you didn't get it, some nutjob who calls himself John Titor claims to be a time traveller from 2038 claims that there will be a civil war brewing in the US of A in the 2004/2005.

Also "predicted" (well, not really so since it is all history for him) the war on iraq.

And a whole lot of other things.

Better educate yourself, it is just another "the end is nigh" message, but in the recent days I find myself more and more spooked by the events in the news.

Looks like a police state is really coming to pass!

Maybe it is really time to buy some really heavy armaments, and know how to use it well..

Apparently he is a time traveller from 30 years in the future who got lost in our time and foretold that in this year, there will be a civil war starting in the states, which would escalate to WW3 until 2011

Well, I don't know what to make of it, but look at today's headlines, so korea set of a nuke. I can see that there are many in the US who are sick of GWB, but without any doubt, through weird 'election policies' and 'political contributions' who can you see as president of the US of A?

John Kerry? Come on, don't kid yourself. We all know the outcome now, what with E-voting and such.

Well, according to John Titor CERN will allow humans to create the first localised black hole in 2007. This leads to new scientific breakthroughs, eventually leading to limited time travel (around 30 to 60 year jumps max).

Of course, if that happens, along with how the US is currently regressing as a society, you can be reasonably certain that in 2015 the US will be devastated by a short but horrific nuclear war.

So, if CERN does indeed create a black hole around 2007, you'd be well advised to move away from the US permanently before 2015.

Anyone remember the time traveller John Titor, and how he claimed the US was going to descend into civil war over loss of freedoms starting next year... Starting to not look good... Check it out

Beware John Titor

In any case, we don't know if John Titor was a real time traveler from 2036 or not....his postings/messages make a lot of interesting reading though. He "predicted" the development of CERN's blackholes, China's space mission, and more importantly, the American Civil War, which is supposed to start in the next two years (2004-2005) or so.

The primary reason he mentioned was the ever increasing highhandedness of the US government (this was in 1999-early 2000), before Sept 11 happenings/Patriot Act etc.

Anyway, what he said was, that people got tired of the US government monitoring them all the time, passing more and more unjust laws favoring corporate America, and curbing basic freedoms of the people.

True or not, every time another such YRO story comes up on /., it makes me wonder where America is headed.

Starting to look more believable...
