Re:Terrorists!
These results are from a poll of Muslim students:
â" 33% claim that killing is justified if done to protect religion.
â" 40 percent support the introduction of sharia for British Muslims.
â" 33 percent support a worldwide Islamic caliphate based on sharia.Yeah but those numbers are similar to the numbers Christian post in our well developed, secular democracy_
- 33% believe Christianity should be the state religion:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/06/christianity-state-religion_n_3022255.htmloh, and about those 33%....
http://www.theocracywatch.org/
You can pretty much rest assured that they would answer the first two questions in the affirmative if they were ever permitted to come to the kind of power they seek.
Radical Islam is no joke, but it's not that different from the 33% of Americans who are merely held in check by the fact of being embedded within the context of a civil, secular society

Stamp collectors?
I'd bash stamp collectors as well if they actively worked to block the teaching of science in schools, denied funding for legitimate scientific research, and pushed their viewpoint through taxpayer funded faith-based initiatives.
Stamp collectors actually help subsidize the US mail since they boost profits with minimal cost to the post office. What's not to like about them?

Re:Just too bad
Ok the citation is the entire GWB white house. It was a relentless assault on reason in favor of faith based initiatives and an overall anti-science attitude:

Re:Let's try to avoid a catastrophe too.
White House Faith-Based Initiatives
Faith Based Initiative - Transformation from Secular to Religious Government
On February 4, 2004, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for provisions in a social services bill that allow religiously based job discrimination in publicly funded programs run by churches. -

Re:Its all about Bush, isnt it
You know its funny
... I used to call myself Christian but I can't anymore becuase it has become a poisoned religion by the likes of the so called "Christian" conservatives, religous right. I think the same thing can be said of the Republican party, it has become poisoned by these same groups, touting "family values" that never used to be family values.
Christian conservatives/Christian fundamentalists are identical in every way to Islamic Fundamentalists except for the suicide bombings. I guess you could say the Christians aren't as dedicated to their cause or have as much an incentive to sacrifice themselves as their Islamic counterparts. Anyone who does not believe this has been brainwashed by these same Christian Conservatives/Fundamentalists into thinking they are mainstream. They are NOT mainstream in any sense of the word. The ultimate goal of many Christian Conservatives is to make the USA a theocracy/ theonomic/ dominionistic nation:

The most frightening examples of this ultimate ultra-conservative Christianity is Christian Reconstructionism who I like to think more of as Christian Talbian:

Anyone who under-estimates these powerful polictical forces and their re-making of the Republican party is being hoodwinked. -

Re:Bill Gates speaking?
Our nation is christian. We were founded on christian ideals. The only reason there is a separation of church and state is not to keep religion out of government, but to keep government out of the church.
Our government is not and should not be christian. The majority of americans may currently be of some christian denomination but, that does not negate the rights of the minority. Majority rule - minority rights.
Furthermore, most of the founding fathers were deists. Deist believe in god but reject christianity. See http://www.deism.org/foundingfathers.htm for a good overview of the religious views that the USA was founded on.
For an eye opening look at how civil rights are being eroded by christianity look here:http://www.theocracywatch.org/
Really, just try thinking for once.

Re:Boring
Wake me up when there is something happening the US which doesn't upset a minority group which goes in search for media attention or takes it to court.
When it gets media attention, it's the opposite of a problem. The problem is when it doesn't get media attention, and people are unaware of what's been quashed because it might offend a dogmatic unlistening minority. Like when teachers don't teach evolution--despite the fact that it's on the curriculum--because public schools have enough problems w/o dealing w/ fundamentalists who believe the Bible is the only Biology textbook you need.

Re:I don't understand
I also wonder how these laws are constitutional.
This is why I love the Judicial Branch of government, well, the Federal Judicial Branch of government ( at least in the last few years, all bets are off after GWB leaves office, when he has appointed "the craziest motherfucker [he] can sneak past Congress.").
The Federal Judiciary is for the most part is separated from politics ( the only connection to politics is when they are appointed, after that they are free to express their ideals with out fear of being voted out of office)
I hope that this is challenged in the courts and over turned. Though the neo conservatives will just have more to complain about in terms of "Judicial Activism" and well then push even harder for stripping the court of their constitutional rights. -
Re:Consolidating your base
They are only considered "Religous Right" if they score well on the Christian Coalitions scorecards. Here is a sample score card

Re:What...??
Reason # 1: Oil
Possible Reason # 2: To fight a Holy War and precipitate Armageddon.
Read some background on these fundamentalist nutjobs. Check out theocracywatch to see what our "leaders" have in mind for America. -
Re:Here's What I Know About Kerry
What a fucking baby. You are completely clueless if all you have to say about Bush is that you are irked about the Patriot Act.
How about making us less safe?
How about repealing environmental laws that protect all of us?
How about blurring the line between church and state?
What about lying about Iraq?
What about giving a huge tax break to the richest americans?
There are so many other things.
If all you can do is whine about being bothered by ads... fuck! You deserve the miserable piece of shit this country will become if we continue to have leaders like GWB.
Sometimes you need to vote against someone. Stop obsessing on Kerry and obsess on Bush.

Re:Human Rights / Trade Agreements
Too bad the bible thumpers aren't just going to church on Sunday, the bitch and moan to their government about things that they believe to be wrong.. for example, teaching evolution, abortion rights and who the fuck knows what else.
Perhaps this site can say it better than I do. Have an open mind, not like me who dislikes religion-loving people instantly. -
In Soviet Russia...
What's the world coming to when the self-proclaimed land of free-speech starts censoring everything, they're slowly turning the country into a Taliban-like regime. Read this site. Great, kill the Talibans, but then copy their values.
Fuck, Bush and Aschroft sound like the Iraqi Information Minister nowadays, "We fight for the good, we fight for justice. We are winning. We will prevail.", whereas they're getting their asses kicked in Iraq. Too bad it's not Bush himself in there, it's the sons and daughters of the Nation.
Fuck, the terrorists have won. It's like chess where your moves are exactly as your opponent wanted: responding so badly, you fuck yourself up.
Let's just fucking nuke the country out of the world, we'll be better without them. Which country? The US of A of course!!!
