Re:WoW game cards
Any AC1 accounts not migrated to turbines billing system(from microsofts) will soon be inaccessable forever. Of course if they are in the turbine system they can sit there forever unsubbed.
"Account Migration
On December 7th 2005 we will be turning off the ability to migrate accounts through our three point authentication system or through our billing department. This change is being made due a necessary update to our billing system. If you have any accounts that you have not migrated by this point you will not have the ability to do so after December 6th 2005."

Get a better game
I suggest packing up and moving on to a company that cares more about the game than the money. I recommend Turbine. They are making D&D online, and Middle Earth Online. They have an Asheron's Call 2 expansion pack coming out on May 4. If you want to read about it, here's the homepage. http://ac2.turbinegames.com/ It also is having upgrades to some major game systems, but player testers have generally shown approval for the changes.

Re:The big title in MMO'sI'm wondering if D&D Online might be able to do it. Pull the video game geeks together with the pen-and-paper geeks to make a massive online geek fest.

Re:Seasonally challenged
Judging by how the Red Sox and Patriots have performed the last couple of years, it's no wonder people from Massachusettts try to forget about Fall as quickly as possible and just move right on with Winter.

Re:GREAT Move - makes the market less transparent
First, I know what I'm talking about here because I have sold and purchased multiple accounts of AC. I haven't played in over a year.
I played the game from release till some time in 2003 when I quit for about 15 months. I recently started playing again because all of the other MMOGs I tried sucked quite badly. I also know what I'm talking about, and with more recent experience.
No, they aren't 'enforcing' anything. They are just telling Ebay that they can't make money off of it anymore. People can still buy and sell this stuff, just without the convenience and limited security of Ebay.
This is enforcing the AuP and CoC. It is of course only one part of enforcment. The AuP and CoC state that you are prohibited from selling any in game items, or accounts. By pulling these sales from known auction sites they are using one type of enforcment. Canceling a prohibited sale. Of course other sales are still going to go through by other means, that doesn't make this any less effective. The harder it is to sell items the fewer people there are doing it.
Another part of enforcment is the banning of accounts found to be used by the worst violaters. Personally I think this is all happening much to late to make a differance. Microsofts failure to enforce the CoC caused irreperable harm to the game and allowed people like Grayson to bring in quite a bit of profit by breaking the rules while those that followed the rules were often "left out" or behind. -
Re:Good
From the Turbine Website
'm sure that as soon as you read this announcement, your first question was, "Will Turbine develop an expansion pack for AC1?"
Does Bobo like nanners?
Yes, we are going to be making an expansion pack for AC1. But I have to warn you, don't expect it soon; it is a good ways off. Actual dates will be released later as we discuss with you what you want to see in it and firm up the design details. I can tell you this, though: Graphics update? You bet! -
Wierd
I find this interesting because I thought Turbine was devoting their resources to developing D&D online What a stark contrast that will be to the asstastic failure that AC2 was.

Re:Doh! Must spend more money...
AC2 already has multiple playable races with race specific paths, buildings, weapons, spells etc. This is being built by whom built AC2

FYI
Jessica was contracted to Turbinegames [website] by the Themis Group [press release] where she is helping bring that game around.
It's interesting in that one chapter in the story says more programmers wont make it go faster becuase AFAIK Asheron's Call 2 the game she's bringing around has only 3 coders working full time on the game in production. It's even to the point that one of the leading websites AC2 Warcry the site manager quit out of disgust of the game's lack of vision into the "Elder" game. While the Site Manager says he still plays the game it's not the only other game with the same issues. It's a too common occurance in many new games and presents a challenge to all future game developers to not have these mistakes.
I guess the old site manager must be a progressive customer. He wants more content!

Re:Ha ha ha.
Then, of course, there's Microsoft's AC and AC2 which STILL can't deal with more than one session over a firewall/NAT or ICS (their own freaking product)... multiple ports over one IP is too hard I guess.
On AC, go to the setup program -> Advanced options -> Specify port. Enter a different port for each client. Voila.
Also, as I'm sure you are aware, both games were in fact developed by Turbine Games and not MS. MS merely operate the service. -
Re:Asheron's Call?
Actually, Asheron's Call is the only reason that I still have a Windows Partition anymore on my main box at home. All joking aside, its a GREAT game. It wasn't developed my Microsoft, nor is it managed by them, but by a company called Turbine. If you'd like to learn more about this addiction, feel free to browse some of my favorite fan sites, Crossroads of Dereth or Asheron's Call Stratics. Of course you can also check my guilds site which I administer, called Strife.

Two WordsASHERON'S CALL!!!
Agh!...If lose the items on my corpse on HG, I will be quite pissed. BTW, AC servers were taken off line for a bug hotfix. And, like 8hrs. later when they were finally put back up, right then MS's DNS dies!...egh!
