I cannot answer for GP, but in Denmark this article (Danish, sorry) state that the super market chains use approximately 210 million Euro per year on dead-tree advertising alone (that is 40 Euro per Dane per year). On top of that, producers spend 600 million Euro per year to subsidize dead-tree advertising (some 115 Euro per year). For a family of four, that's an extra cost of 620 Euro per year for dead-tree advertising on goods from super markets alone. Add to that TV commercials and internet commercials. About 5 years ago, there was a survey (can't find a link) that stated that approximately 25% of what Danes paid for groceries were used to pay for advertising.

I gotta say... For a long time I've been wondering why exactly Paris Hilton is always talked about on TV and wherever as if she's really sexy when she is actually not very attractive at all. But you've just confirmed it for me... There are in fact men (you are male, right?) who find Paris Hilton attractive. Astounding.

Do a Google Image search for Vida Guerra, Esther Baxter, Michelle Ford, and Ki Toy Johnson... Study their pictures for a while. Then do the same for Paris. Notice how Paris looks like an 11 year old boy made up to look like a 50 year old whore?

Got it? Good. Now don't fall down on me here... It's your fault that whenever entertainment people want to show off a sexy girl, they tend to put some stick like Paris Hilton or Uma Thurman or whatever in their movie/show/whatever. Get on the ball and maybe some females who are actually attractive will start showing up on TV/movies.

(I have a confession to make... I've seen the video you're talking about, and it actually is uncharacteristically (for Paris) reasonably hot. 97% of the time though she looks like an ugly skank.)

The Danish TV station TV2 did a similar show about a year ago. Check out missionen.tv2.dk. However, this was not to go to the ISS, but to win a trip on a Space Cruiser. (the site is old, and it looks not very well maintained)

I believe it is also being done on the Norwegian TV2 (no relation between the two).

The AERO concert with Jean Michel Jarre two days ago was staged in a windmill park in the north-western part of Denmark.
