Re:Orac from Blake's Seven
Zen wasn't exactly a barrel of laughs either, although it/he did have a striking resemblance to the playing screen on Blockbusters

Re:Crystal Maze
Does nobody remember a TV game series called 'Crystal Maze' that ran from the early-mid '90s.
No, but I do remember another major show: Fort Boyard. It follows the same style, where contestants have a time-limit to complete certain tasks. There's differences (e.g. only one team in one episode, and the host volunteers the contestants on their behalf), but it is generally the same. Only saw the french version, though. -
Well...
if Digital River are in on it, you can guarantee their system will be a big bucket of steaming dog plop. Having dealt with them when buying Symantec products online, I can vouch for the piss poor customer service and strange e-commerce system that makes re-downloading the software near on impossible and a Krypton Factor style challenge.

multiple organisms
"multiple organisms"
I almost had a blockbusters moment there...
What a suprise they removed the dumbass human-check. a-holes. Finished reading "Dumb ideas for dummies" have you? -
Re:If Leo goes, I go.
What kind of crack are you smoking?
Robot Wars a rip-off of Battlebots? Puh-leez. I was watching Robot Wars years ago on PBS. It's been around as a British series (hence all the funny accents) since 1997.
Craig Charles the "smarmy" host, played Lister on Red Dwarf, an IMHO, great sci-fi comedy.
There was (is?) an American Robot Wars on TNN that had Mick Foley, a professional wrestler (aka Mankind, Catus Jack), as MC - it was horrible. It was like Robot Wars meets trailer park. I'd much rather have Craig's stupid poetry at the end of every show.
I miss the obstacle courses they used to have -
I found that more interesting than the battles
most of the time. -

I think you're thinking of Cyberzone.

Inspiration?
I remember when I first saw scrapheap challenge I thought it was like "The Great Egg Race", but with bigger 'pieces' - did this show influence you at all?
Also I wonder, if you weren't presenting the show do you think you'd be knowledgable enough to actually compete as part of a team? What about with your fellow presentors?
(I'd love to see a special edition with the presentors vs some celebritys or something similar...)

Re:Inspiration for JYW
It's based on The Great Egg Race. Though where the idea for that came from is a mystery...

Hmm now where have I seen this before...The BBC had a very simliar format program back in the early 80's called Now Get Out Of That. It involved pseudo scientists competing against each other to complete a course over 3 days. I hate to say it but I find the whole reality TV genre completly overworked. Isn't there anything original left in US TV anymore? Or maybe there never was? Go here anyways if you want to find out about it.

Re:Don't get your hopes up.
A bit too practical for my tastes I prefer The Adventure Game I mean if I hadnt seen a shy Aspidistra rule an entire planet I might not have become the man I am today...

Re:Don't get your hopes up.
But do you remember The Great Egg Race? That was on many many years ago. It was this type of show, and was great. Details here.
